Having just arrived in the city, my friend and I were in search of a hefty meal -- fit for two starving children (we're adults). After some arduous googling and thorough research and broken ferry ride -- we arrived, up the stairs into the nook of this restaurant. We ordered the half and half broth, but admittedly wish we had just ordered the non-spicy broth as the spicy broth was just too much and too sour for our taste. But overall, we enjoyed our experience! The meat tasted well and as did the other fresh veggies we had ordered. But what surprisingly elevated this experience was the dessert and drinks. The best advice I can offer in regards to dessert is "Save the best for last." The sweet egg custard buns were an absolute delight. Especially when fresh, the warm custard just sweetly coats your tongue and leaves you satisfied with your meal. After hesitating as to whether or not I should order coconut juice, I finally committed and will admit it just may be one of the best decisions I've made in this lifetime. The coconut was as fresh as it comes, giving me a refreshing and vaguely sweet recovery from the warm broth. At the end of the night I found myself cleaning out its flesh because I found it a waste.

Awesome place with delicious hot pot... Went there two days in a row... Cuz i had 5 star ⭐✨ experience the first day. Went for lunch, got lamb, beef, veg combo, dumplings, & delicious fresh noodles. The lady who looks like owner even came and gave us free shrimp and we had an amazing meal!So I brought my friend there next day for dinner it was definitely busier and packed. Didn't expect anything free so that's fine but service was terrible. I think there were five servers but only two of them spoke English so the other three could not do anything beside picking up the dishes. The problem was a lot of people including us were just waiting for food to come out... And remember this is a hot pot where we cook ourselves on the table. They just have to bring raw food out on a plate....We ordered essentially the same thing plus seafood combo... We got meats and fish but didn't get vegetable until we asked at least three times.... And anyone who likes hot pot knows you want vegetable upfront.... And when it came out, unlike the day before when we had cabbage, broccoli, mushrooms and different mixes they only had cabbage and broccoli along with lettuce. Yes you read that correctly they gave you lettuce for Hot pot.... When I asked if any mushroom that comes with it, they said it does not come with any mushroom even though we had them yesterday ordering the same combo....Needless to say, I did not go back to third time. It was just very different experience between those two. I think I even saw someone getting kicked out during the dinner. Anyway overall just very weird ride during the dinner.....

This is a great place to have hot pot. I wish it was more places like this in San Francisco for about 30 to 40 bucks a person. It’s worth it you could eat and eat and eat your heart out very tasty hot pot.

Let’s start with the conclusion: I don’t recommend Happy Lamb in San Francisco.

food was good but service was trash , server came to our table like twice. Most of our help came from a busboy, frustrating because every other table but ours was getting helped by a server.

I would definitely have to say this was an amazing experience at a hot pot dinner (it was in a convenient location being right next to Union Square). I thought the location of the restaurant is really cool being on the second floor and having to walk up the stairs to go to this Delicious restaurant. We were seated rather quick and tended to. I loved little booths and all the individual experiences I saw in this restaurant and all the different options we could potentially order. It made it exciting! We ended up ordering the original house bone marrow broth and the spicy bone marrow broth, along with the bok choy for a more neutral veggie, the Napa cabbage for a sweeter taste, tiger shrimp and scallops to add a twist to the broth, emoji mushroom because I just love emoji mushroom and it is the house recommended mushroom, and freshly cut noodles. 1. ABSOLUTELY GET THE FRESHLY CUT NOODLE - it was extremely fresh and delicious and went perfectly with the soup.2. I was very happy with the veggie options I chose3. Broth was extremely tasty and you know this is real broth because we found a chicken foot in the soup. FYI this is how the highest quality of broth is made. Only thing is that the spicy broth has a lot of oil so you need to mix it a lot by it is really yummy. You can control the temperatures or the heat, I like mine hotter so we turned it up and turned it down when we needed to. Overall I highly recommend, it was a great experience, and a solid option to go eat at. Was the place insanely mind blowing? No. But it was delicious and a great place to visit in my opinion and I had a great date night with my boyfriend. The waiter was also very kind, and recommended that you go with the house specials with the lamb on the side of the menu ! Also didn't love that they charge for sauces but not a deal breaker! Didn't end up getting any and still had a yummy meal although it think it could of elevated it a little, I'll see next time!

Happy Lamb is a hot pot hotspot in the heart of San Francisco. Bring friends, coworkers, family, or yourself! The soup options are practically endless, so there’s always more to explore here!On 25 October, I ordered the pickled cabbage (sauerkraut) broth, sliced chicken breast, and wood ear mushrooms. I requested a side of chillies (“hot reds”) because I love spicy food. The broth itself was soothing and full of crisp cabbage, livened up with tangy scallions and zesty ginger, and dotted with goji berries. It’s truly a superfood and sure pairs well with chicken and mushrooms! The chicken was tender, lean, and hearty, and the wood ears had that characteristic leathery, chewy, gelatinous texture.Note that this is a chicken and beef bone broth, but vegetarian broth is available upon request. It is a vegetable stock with carrots, onions, celery, and garlic, making it also suitable for vegans.Of course, I cannot forget about the excellent service and the pleasant atmosphere.I highly recommend!

this is the first hotpot place I've been to without a self-serve sauce bar. they charge $0.50 per sauce (5 choices), which is good enough for 2-3. it's not ridiculous, and in a way helps reduce food waste. the menu isn't the most extensive, but since it's not all you can eat, you wouldn't be getting a lot of ingredients anyway. total turned out to be about $40/pax for us.the original & spicy chicken-beef bone marrow broth were very flavorful. loved the beef short plate and the fresh fish fillet. the marinated garlic beef was okay, and the angus beef was very lean. the fish ball with roe was seasoned well, and I loved the wood ear mushrooms.the staff were super friendly and attentive, refilling our waters consistently and our soup bases. our server gave us a plate of mango mochi ice cream on the house too!

The oldest hotpot restaurant in San Francisco. Good food, supper broth, always great place for big groups.
