My new favorite spot for Mexican food. On the surface, this place looks expensive and fancy. However, as you get in and taste the food, it is very good yet reasonably priced. You get well flavored with variety of fresh ingredients packed in each taco. What amazed me the most though is the salad topped with carnitas. The carnitas is grilled and fried to the right crispiness. And there is more meat than vegetables! As if the vegetables are just decoration! What I love about this place is how much they care about small touches yet flavor packed like mango or salsa they topped on the dishes. That makes the meal so refreshing to the eyes and tastebuds. And don't worry about seats. This place is big. There are more seats than you can see from the outside. This is definitely a place that I will come back again.

Food was tasty and sangria was flavorful without being too strong. Although it felt a little pricey for the portions, overall it was a good experience and I would come back to try more from the menu.

Excellent dinner with my beautiful wife. Delicious mexican food and drinks. Great atmosphere and service. Our server Selby was awesome. Very nice, friendly and attentive. Pinky another server/host and Vanessa the floor manager were also friendly and nice. Great location near Union Square. Outstanding customer service. My lovely wife and I highly recommend the Matador. Thank you.

I love Mexican food so was excited to try Matador for the first time. The Matador margarita was delicious. We didn’t try any appetizers and went straight to main course. The vegetarian enchiladas were tasty. Right ratio of veggies and cheese for me, I don’t mind more cheese but liked that this didn’t taste too rich. There are 2 sauce options red or green and I chose green. I think the tangy tomatillo is good match. The entree is accompanied by rice and beans and again there is choice of Mexican vs cilantro rice I choose former. And wHole vs refried beans , I opted for latter. Both were tasty however I felt the temperature could have been better, felt lukewarm to me. While the portion was sufficient for me at $22 I felt the quantity of rice and beans could have been more generous. I could see someone with a more hefty appetite not being satiated. Thus removed a star. The ambiance was very nice and I look forward to coming back and trying more items on the menu.

Menu is varied with some innovation offerings. We all enjoyed our meals. Vegetarian enchiladas were fantastic, Drink menu is extensive and they were well done. Our server was friendly, knowable, and very attentive. It was a wonderful evening and have recommended this to friends.

Great food, great service. Small space with music too loud and not crazy about continual loop of wierd music videos on big screens with lots of twerking. That was strange and dissonant with vibe of food and decor

We selected this restaurant because of it's proximity to Curran theater (a short walk). Dinner was excellent. Started with chipolte honey Brussels sprouts. I had chili relleno with cilantro rice and my husband had steak quesadilla. Both were very tasty. The chili relleno wasn't fried (which was a happy surprise). We weren't drinking that night, but the bar is beautiful and looks like they could make some tasty margaritas! I did have watermelon agua fresca which was very good. Definitely would recommend this restaurant.

I ALMOST WENT INTO ANAPHYLACTIC SHOCK HERE BECAUSE OF THE WAITRESSES NEGLIGENCE. I dined here last Monday afternoon and immediately made my severe avocado allergy known. I ordered the quesadillas and was assured that the green salsa was avocado-free. Ten minutes after delivering our meals, the waitress causally came back to our table to say that there was in fact avocado in the salsa and they were “just going to make me a new one”. She was COMPLETELY unbothered which made the situation even worse. She blamed a “language barrier” on the reason for this delayed notice. I wasn’t much in the mood to eat after that and shortly thereafter broke out in hives and my throat started to close. It’s really unacceptable that you make an allergy known and then carelessness leads to a very serious health situation. It’s not hard to pay attention to these things.Oh, and to top it off my friend that was dining with me had to ask for the quesadilla to be taken off the bill. Apparently that’s not something that automatically comes with a severe allergic reaction.

We went on Valentine's Day. Got fairly full. Service was good considering how busy they were. The food we ordered was delicious, especially the quesabirria. Their house salsa was also excellent. I would definitely return.

Our party of 3 had reservations for 5:30pm on a Saturday evening. We arrived a few minutes early and were promptly seated at a table in a spacious section in the rear of the restaurant. Our waiter came to our table within a few minutes and provided menus. Our drinks and food were served quickly. Prices were very reasonable and everyone liked the food they ordered (chicken tacos, cauliflower tacos, fish tacos, salad) and the service was excellent.
