There is so much I could say about my bad experiences with Dr. Bredeek's Metropolis Medical Group - most of which have to do with the staff of inefficient, late, and clueless people. But the thing you need to know the most, is about the last visit I had there. Dr. Bredeek, after complaining that I had enough medical issues (and I do) to be seen by himself, and not a new medical assistant he had hired (Bonnie) that refused me my monthly medications because I had never seen her (despite having had a visit five months prior with Dr. B), while Dr. B was on vacation... sat me down and said this: "I do not make enough money off of you to see you. Your insurance only lets me bill them $90 as your GP. So you must see my assistant or the nurse." I'm serious. He said that. This, after having been subjected to the prior Nurse Practitioner that prescribed me medication I did not need in too high of a dose, and told me I had mono...which I did not have...to explain the fatigue and brain fog I was feeling - a Thyroid patient that had never been taken up from the minimum dosage for several years. Thank the Gods for my expert UCSF Endocrinologist, who saved my life after Dr. Bredeek nearly took it from me, for lack of care. It was like pulling teeth getting my complete medical records to my new doctor. Did I mention the receptionist was wearing a see-through animal print top, tight black leggings with see-through lace all the way up the sides, and 6" platform heels? This is not the look of "Medical Professional." He also did not bother to even call me after he had been notified that I was admitted to the emergency room after his botched efforts to control what he called a cold (put me on a nebulizer for a month), that turned out to be severe bronchitis requiring an overnight $20,000 stay, several IV antibiotics (the infection was so bad after not being controlled, it had built up in the lining between the heart and lungs). Not even a phone call. Don't waste your time with this one. I agree with Hell O's review.

I would recommend finding a different practitioner. I've given this office over a year and a half to get it together but am continually disappointed by the service. It's difficult to get someone on the phone. Dr. Bredeek seems to rarely be there because I always end up with a different physician's assistant. There is no sense of urgency and I've sat waiting for a half hour when I was on time and just there to get a Flu shot.

Billing with Metropolis is a nightmare; and when you do try and contact billing, they do not return you calls.

Metropolis has billed me and Medicare on several occasions for services never performed. I have contacted Metropolis, they said it was an error. They billed Medicare again, and I was billed by Metropolis for what Medicare did not cover. Medicare has been informed and has investigated Metropolis. They have billed in excess of $2,500 for services never performed. It gets even better--I have been there only once years ago, yet they're still trying to collect off of Medicare and my secondary insurance.

STAY AWAY.. Trying to cut ties with office after complete inefficent care and had to call 3 days in a row just to get the task taken care of! Not to mention I actually talked to office staff and they told me they were too busy and to keep calling back the next day and so on! AND THIS OFFICE ASSISTANT!!! How is this girl even employed!! I guess idiots all over have jobs, but this one truly amazes me! She is obviously has trade school education and NO empathy, compassion, basic understanding of how to treat a patient or how to handle their needs. After making contact with her on the third day of requesting my records she told me she was too busy to handle this due to apts and that she needed a WEEK to process this request! People, I work in a medical office I have 8200 clients and I fax, email, etc medical records the same day they are requested. THIS OFFICE IS THE DEFINITION OF THE UNEFFICENT, UNCARING MEDICAL SERVICE PROBLEM THAT WE FACE IN OUR HEALTH CARE SYSTEM here in America! Someone should put them out of business

Dr. Bredeek might be a decent Doctor although I doubt it. His condesecending attitude and rude behvior to his patients and support staff leave a lot to be desired in the bedside manner department. I have had some great Docs at CPMC who truly care about the welfare of their patients and Dr. Bredeek is not one of them. He seems much more focused on making money than providing good health care and does not really listen to what you say. I will not be seeing him again and advise people to look twice before dealing with him.

My PCP went out of business and one of the recommendations was Dr. Bredeek. I got an appointment right away, his office staff Lavina and Bob are friendly, cheerful and after a year the longest I have had to wait is no more than 2 minutes. Rudy is also a very nice, polite staff member. I sign in and immediately am shown to an exam room for BP/Weight/Temp and then about 5-10 min wait for Dr. Bredeek himself. He is always upbeat and interested. He's a PhD and extremely versed in his practice. Suffice to say, I feel fortunate to have found him, he is totally dedicated to my well being and good health.

I also have similar horrible experiences other reviewers described. When Metropolis moved their practice to SF in June 2008 and Dr. Bredeek began to see his new patients from the old Pacific Medical Group, his practice had not been certified by Anthem Blue Cross, which has been my insurance company since 2006. I had several appointments with them in July and August 2008. When I received my Anthem's monthly statements in Sept 2008, I noticed that the insurance company didn't pay the medical group for the services I received, so I brought the statements to my next appt and informed Dr. Bredeek of the potential billing errors. He reassured me of my concerns and said he'd take care of it.. Fast forward to May 2010. I received a bill over $400 for the 2008 services I received. I first ignored it because I thought there must have been some billing errors. A month later, I got a call from a woman and she demanded that I make the payment owed to the Medical Group. I told her that the patients shouldn't be paying for the billing errors made by their billing department but she wouldn't listen. Not wishing to alienate the relationship with my doctor, I swallowed the pill and gave her my credit card #. After the incident, I thought to myself that I was never really happy with their services after all. The whole office, from the receptionist to doctors, feels very cold and sanitary. To be fair, I consider the HIV medical advice I received from Dr. Bredeek to be excellent. He switched me to new HIV meds that were newer and easier to take. I also enjoyed seeing the NP Rudy . However, once the doctor pushed me to take some expensive test and I didn't believe the test was medically necessary. He then warned me that he could report me to the city clinic if I refused to take the test. In the end, I didn't take the test and I don't believe the doctor reported me to the clinic either. So if you prefer your doctors to be the warm fuzzy kind, Metropolis is not for you.

Dr, Berdeek sems to be knowledgeable, but his attitude toward patients is more like that of a vetrenarian toward (cash) cows than a "therapeutic ally." The practice is very insensitive to insurance coverage and to patient's time. "The doctor's time is more important than yours" is way too prevalent, but particuarly acute at the Metropolis Group.

You will see many patients talk of billing nightmares with this office; and it is all true. My experience has gone on for nearly three years, with incorrect billings, administrative charges, collection agencies, etc. All because they did not bill, or incorrectly billed, my insurance provider. Stay away from these wretches; nothing but trouble.

The office was empty, I got an appointment the same day. Both visits were fast appointments and physical were easy. For some reason my flu shot was not billable and I had to expense it myself with my insurance. Odd.

When they took over this practice, Summer of 2008, Dr. Schynder hijacked my appointment from the NR I always see without telling me. He said I would now be meeting with a physician at least once a year. At first I appreciated this, but then he preceded to talk down to me as if I knew nothing about why I was there, not just terrible bedside manner, he was an a--. After dumping them they kept telling my records/lab sheets didn't exist. Had to walk in and demand copies in person before they gave up my records. A year later they sent me a bill, calling it "seriously past due" when this was the first time it had been sent. AVOID THESE PEOPLE!!!!

Dr. Bredeek is first rate. I came into this practice as he acquired it and so my experience started with him as my doctor. He is both an infectious disease specialist and an HIV specialist which is a great combination to have if you are poz. He has always spent a good amount of time in my sessions with me and is very meticulous in my care. I highly recommend him and and office.

I dumped these guys a while back.... Very bad first experience with the doc visits (cancelled without calling-2x), bad run-in with the over zealous billing dude (bills me for $5 every few months than I get a bill for 0, then it goes back to $5 or $20). I have not paid any of it because I am unclear whether it will be "corrected" back and forth forever... All the staff are new and eager to please the boss instead of the patient....too bad. They have lost a lot of the past patients over the last few months and most of us have scrambled to find a new place with a more hospitable and patient friendly place.

I too was a patient at this practice before Dr. Bredeek. Though I've never even met the man, the way he runs his practice....IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY! First off, when you arrive for your appointment, they have you sign the bottom of a blank clinic sheet (supposedly to document your arrival time). It turns out, this is the same form the the Dr. or NP use to make notes about your visit. My problem with it is, at the end of the day (or in a court of law) it appears that you've 'signed-off' or approved what they wrote about you. Second, Dr. Bredeek charges my insurance company as a 'Specialist" (plus I have to pay a $50 Specialist Copay) even though he's supposed to be my Primary Care Provider. And this is the case even when I see the Nurse Practitioner who's seems to be fresh out of school, and FAR from being a 'Specialist' Third, the fact that a physician who is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases and is also soliciting your business for Sculptra injections (ka-ching, ka-ching), is like your Neurosurgeon selling real estate part-time...."for a little extra cash". Gimme a break! Lastly, got a bill today for $40. Seems they don't check their voicemail, so that they can charge you for being a no-show! I'm done with Dr. Bredeek and Metropolis Medical!
