What a nifty store full of oddities. Lost track of time as I browsed around since there is always some other cool looking treasure to be found. Would recommend popping in to see what you can find too!

My favorite store in the city. Lots of oddities and high graded skulls. Great for gifts for artist friends.

The most unique style in SF. I picked up a bunch of cool rocks for my younger nephew. They also have a cool book selection where I bought a book on bugs with full page, color images.

Deyrolle in Paris was big and nice, so I visited it in San Francisco, but it was much smaller than I thought!

The people who work here are very kind and warm-hearted. They seem to also know a lot about their products, which is awesome considering there are a lot of abnormal things in there haha. This is one of my go-to spots for anything occult and stone related. Being a practicing shaman, I have much appreciation for this place and what they have to offer. Not to mention they are one of the only places in the city that you can get human bones legally haha.

One of my favorite stores in SF! On the expensive side but great to find curiosities to give to the scientifically inclined people in your life

A small but well curated shop of oddities. The front half is an oddities and curiosities shop ands the back has a nice selection of houseplants. The staff are super nice too. If you're in the area check it out. You won't regret it.

Fantastic place to visit and great, quality products and service. Staff are very nice and welcoming, have a wide variety of niche minerals and animal related products that, no matter who you are, will tempt you and test your willpower. They have things that can range from a few dollars, to a few hundred, all in between, and beyond, depending on what you are looking for. Highly recommend; I never leave reviews for places, but I felt this place warranted it.

Another great reason to love this store. I was so distraught at the sudden loss of my hairless guinea pig & was at a loss. I called Paxton Gate & luckily was referred to Wilderness Taxidermy, Geoff did a great job, Thank you for the recommendation!

I love this store. It carries such a variety of unique things. It's definitely pricey, but you don't see the stuff in there everywhere. I love the selection of stones, bones, art, plants, jewelry, kids toys and other trinkets. The store carries some ghoulish but tasteful quirky pieces. Being that's its expensive I bought one thing which I thought was pretty reasonable. It was about $35. It's a beautiful plant attached wood. I absolutely love this piece I am adding to my home and plant collection. I just hope I can keep it alive! I'll definitely return to Paxton Gate one day when I can treat myself. I only left out a star because the staff barely looks up when you're standing in front of them. I stood at the register and the man that rang me up barely said two words. And again, it's pricey however I do like to support local businesses when I can. Especially post pandemic.

Cool, weird spot with a lot of interesting oddities. Items can be expensive but you're paying to have something unique. I purchased VERY COOL odd dried flowers for a friend's birthday. I loved the gift. Glad this treasure exists.

Pretty cool / unique curiosity store in the Mission with everything from crystals to animal bones / skulls to art to a really great plant room in the back. So much to look at and really great for unique gifts or just to take in the randomness.

Been here many years before and didn't really like this place. Recently walked by with a friend and she wanted to go in again. She's been here before too. Inside - Lots of taxidermy covering the wall. I felt sadness. Some part of the store I felt like there are something creepy here. Don't know what. I told my friend I will wait for her outside.

Online order. There was a mix up that was fixed immediately without problem. Very happy and will be ordering again!

Love this place! I had been meaning to go here for awhile now, and we finally made time to go! I picked the perfect day, they were having a snakes and margaritas event which is right up my alley! I was able to get a few fun unique gifts for my son and mom (for Mother's Day) Would def go again, and I can't wait to take some of their workshops in the future.
