“Exceptional Experience at Bernal Beast!
I discovered Bernal Beast during my walks with my new dog, Little Bear, and after noticing the store’s training offerings, I decided to give it a try. The classes I wanted to join were full, so I opted for a private “Ask the Trainer” session—and I am so thankful I did!
From the moment I contacted the trainers, I felt at ease. Erika and Stephanie (the amazing folks running the training program) were incredibly understanding and helpful when I made a mistake with my booking, going above and beyond to get everything sorted.
When Little Bear and I finally met Erika, I could immediately tell we were in great hands. By the end of the session, I felt like I had learned so much, and I left with renewed confidence as a dog owner. Erika is patient, knowledgeable, and incredibly kind—not just with my dog but with me, too. She showed us new techniques, went over some of the basics, and took the time to ensure I wasn’t overwhelmed. I felt supported every step of the way.
Bernal Beast is more than just a training center, though. The store itself is wonderful—clean, easy to navigate, and always stocked with great pet products. The staff here are all friendly and welcoming. Little Bear is a bit nervous around new places, but the staff’s patience and generosity make each visit a positive one. They spoil her with treats, give great recommendations without pressure, and genuinely care about the pets they serve.
I can’t recommend Bernal Beast enough. Whether you’re looking for training, pet products, or just a welcoming space for your fur baby, this place has it all. I wholeheartedly recommend working with Erika (and Stephanie, who I’m sure is just as amazing) to help build that bond with your pet. We can’t wait for our next visit and to continue learning from Erika!”
“Everything about this store my dog absolutely loves. From the staff to the food and treats, to the other cats and dogs she meets there. Not to mention it's in a great location; we can have a day out at one of the many parks in the area and then end with a visit to Pawtrero for a bath and treats. This is our new go-to for all her needs!”
“The owner and all the staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable! When I was fostering a puppy and felt overwhelmed (to say the least) they were a guiding force, allowing me to keep fostering dogs. Their years of expertise in dog nutrition, training and merchandise - show brightly through their deep love for animals. Favorite pet store in the Bay Area for sure! “We love PLAY's products. Our French dog and chihuahua always seem to choose a PLAY toy from the toy bin before any other. We only have PLAY beds and mats. They are easy to clean and hold up for years of snoozes and play times.”
“This is our neighborhood pet store but I’ll continue to come here once we move to a different spot in the city. Has everything we need for our dog and more. They stay up to date on new toys and brands so much so that it almost feels like they are anticipating our needs. Everything they have is high quality, we can buy there without worry that it will be worth the price. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, plus, their window displays are top tier and make me smile every time I walk by. We love Noe Valley Pet Co and all they bring to the neighborhood!”
“They made my dog the most beautiful birthday cake ever and even the pickiest of the dogs loved it. All the biscuits are freshly made right there at the store, too. “Very nice people, as are people who shop there. Nice neighborhood also. My Chihuahua walked out with some new duds and all the fixings. I know the place is fairly new, but there's just a lot of potential there. I hope they really keep going with the concept of what real dog food should be. I fear just like us, the food is leading them to their graves. Makes me sick going to the chains! How many dogs do you know that like crackers (a few). I love my animals, they are living beings, and not lesser life forms, as is the perception of a lot of human beings. We force them into an unnatural, and unforgiving world, as we kill of the rest of them or some other torture practice that we fail to recognize. They deserve better lives.”
“I’ve had a great experience with SF Raw for 6+ years. My dog is 11 years old and still
going strong and I contribute that to getting a fully balanced sf raw diet. The quality of their products is the best on the market & everything I’ve purchased for my dog is always fresh and consistent. They have a wide variety of meat options sourced with care. If you're looking for high-quality, reliable raw pet food, this is definitely the place to go. Highly recommend!”

“We've been going to Black Nose since 2014 because Walt is basically the only other human we'd trust to watch our pup. We moved out of San Francisco a few years ago but still bring our pup back for boarding here when we travel. Our dog is a mellow senior with daily medication and some other health issues but we fully trust Walt and Black Nose to take care of her. I wish I could give this place 10 stars!”

“My senior German Shepherd Honey has been going here for about 18 months, for bath/dry and nail trims. I think my experience and Honeys have been excellent.Communication is great, space is clean and calm, the prices seem more than fair for the amount of labor involved.Honey is on the nervous side but when I pick her up she does not seem freaked out - she's clean, her nails are trimmed but not bleeding, etc. They mention she can't stand the entire time so they have to get creative at times but everybody seems copacetic with the situation.There's a bad review that mentions that they informed a customer they were taking care of another dog with fleas. To me, a place that really likes dogs and wants to help them would of course take a dog being menaced by fleas and help them. You never know if the owner is able to do the care themselves, some must rely on services like this. This to me is a good sign, not a bad sign.”

“George is such a cute pet boutique in pac heights. I go here every year to get my Shiba Inu her birthday hat! They have a large selection of dehydrated treats in a "serve yourself" area as well as packaged treats and pet supplies. The workers are always very helpful and give my dog lots of samples.”

“I have a pup with pancreatitis and most lower fat treats she refuses but luckily mishka’s turkey cake is very low fat and my dog is obsessed with the cakes and so am I. The cakes are absolutely beautiful and there are always fun new shapes with different seasons and holidays. The staff is also always so friendly and helpful. Mishka is a must go to if you have a pup in the Bay Area.”
