Recently, I have used Safeway three times for grocery delivery to my house and all has went well. The food items were great no complaints. On Feb 15 I needed 2 gallons of milk and I decided to try the "value corner" brand reduce fat milk, 2%. It was two dollars less, why not right? The expiration said sell by February 25 today's the 22nd. This morning I opened up my container of milk and it was already going bad so I poured it down the drain. I think for the price that we're being charged for food and milk, etc. That things shouldn't be going bad three days before the sell by date on the container. Avoid this brand just avoid it it's not worth the minimal savings.

The music and commercials are way to Loud and Horribly annoying. I can say that lost prevention is more respectful, but unfortunately there is still alot of stealing happening. This is happening everywhere and the thieves are forcing the store's to leave.

This Safeway feels like prison. I grew up in the Fillmore and always came here before I moved for college. But when I came back for Christmas break, they changed everything. No more self checkouts and the whole store is feels like an open prison.

The Safeway was cool now until one day I showed up and got removed from the store by security for no apparent reasons. When asked they told me nothing they just looked at me. I tried to argue my case they just sat there and stared at me gave me no reason why and I think it was more of a racial profiling thing Only reason I would claim this is because I noticed every time I come to the store to shop I would be followed and you know individually out as a thief or whatever but never stole from the store ever and never stole from any store for that matter. Normally I don't let these things get to me but this one kind of got to me. I will give this store a 1 out of 100 because of this reason security is lame there are a bunch of racial profiling lames. I guess nothing against the store Safeway but more of the lp and security they really don't know how to do their job they just single people out based off what they look like it's unfortunate maybe they should rethink their security and LP. I think that's what a good store owner should do.

I moved right across the street from this Safeway about a month ago, and the reviews on Yelp convinced me that I wanted no part of this place. But one time I needed some milk and thought I'd walk over and check it out. I was pleasantly surprised. Maybe they've cleaned things up since some of these reviews were written, but I've been there over half a dozen times, including once at night, and the experience has always been pleasant, with no street crazies in the store (that I could see) or anything besides what you'd see in a typical Safeway. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, the store is clean, with a good selection of products ... so give it a shot!

ever since this location implemented the new scanner systems to deter shoplifters, homeless or drug users, exiting this place is a nightmare.i went to the pharmacy to get a vaccine, and I was not given a receipt to exit the store. after presenting the clerk stations at the scanner exit, they were not even smart enough to realize customers who go there for vaccines should be allowed to exit without a receipt even after i showed them the paperwork.this is a policy the store manager should put in place to make it easier for customers to exit because this should not require a receipt with the barcode.this is totally unacceptable and causes a lot of headache.

I am new to the City and this was my first time shopping at Safeway which is an interesting name for a grocery store that I didn't feel safe in. Security guards at the entrance had me concerned. I thought what the heck is going on with security guards who by the way we're not friendly at all! Well it didn't take long to see why. While I was waiting in a line so long that i should have brought a chair to sit in while i waited for my turn, I heard screaming. Some elderly lady was screaming at the security guards and threatening to call the police. People didn't seem the least bit concerned like it was just part of a Safeway shopping experience. My daughter later told me the lady seemed mentally ill and was screaming racial slurs at the security guards she thought maybe this woman was caught shoplifting. I guess she couldn't run fast enough out of the store and was apprehended. I won't be returning to shop here. I would rather pay extra fees and use instacart to deliver my groceries. It was too stressful just being inside the store. People seemed so unhappy- employees and customers. On a positive note I did like the fact they have a nice selection of products. I especially liked that they carry Boars Head meats and cheeses.

Conveniently located on Webster and Geary Blvd. But not feeling too safe, as too many homeless, solicitors and drug addicts lingering around outside in parking lot. Many items inside store are locked--can't blame them afterall what happened during early days of pandemic in SF, all the looting. I try to make my runs, if needed, super fast. Not sure what happened to the self check out kiosks. Last time i came they seem to have been removed?? Not too many checkers so wait at times can be pretty lengthy.

The worst Safeway somehow gets worse! I won't be shopping here anymore since its simply not worth my time and money. The removal of self check-out lines means waiting 10+ minutes even when grabbing just a few things. Please implement a less than15 item line that is actually enforced.

Walked in, asking the employee about the restroom, which, by the way, was broken down, no public restroom, he walked without even turning around, dismissively, saying "nope it's not working," we asked if there was another restroom, he said, "nope" not even turning around to acknowledge the customer. Rude and dismissive! The self checkout line is not functioning and closed completely; not to mention that there are armed guards with bulletproof vests here, all around the store. Please tell me what the hell kind of Safeway this is? Is this a grocery store? Customer service? Seriously? While checking out, the cashier just straight left and came back 510mins later, as people were packed in line?! Disgusted!

I just moved nearby and this is my new Safeway. Well, it could have been. I'm going to continue to go to Diamond Heights after a miserable Drive up and Go Experience. My order is ready, the time is three minutes after 8:00 PM. Ok fine I was three minutes late. I do this quite often - shop for pickup a few times a month and am rarely late. The times I have been running a few minutes late, the Diamond Heights location has acted like it was no big deal, same story at other locations too. I used to work in retail and I realize that some locations are just not as good as others in terms of the customer service offered. It would've been different if it was just one person but it was a team of people to tell me "no you can't get your order." Kind of embarrassing to say the least, since it happened in the checkout lanes. I don't think I will ever want to spend a dime here again, and when the doom loop expands into the Fillmore/Japantown area, I hope that it consumes this awful safeway too. Good riddance.I'm off to another Safeway, because I cannot wait until tomorrow for the things I paid for today.... I just hope that Webster Street Safeway refunds me quickly.

I live next to this Safeway. I've seen this location go through the gamut of changes over the past 15 years and I can say the added security measures are obviously inconvenient to some but absolutely necessary to curb the rampant shoplifting and bum fights that were happening there several times daily. That being said, this location also has the most excruciatingly SLOWEST checkout lines of any Safeway I've been to. It is 90% elderly folks who don't know how to pay or have an issue over a few cents on a $5 purchase. I'd avoid this place if you don't have an extra 30 min to spare. It can be a maddeningly painful experience at the checkout.
