This is a dystopian hellscape of a grocery store. I've watched it decline over the past 10 years and now I can't even buy milk here.

I lost my phone and the staff dropped everything to help me out, including calling my phone to find it. I can't say enough about how great they are. Big thumbs up.

I love this Safeway. It's a bit smaller but even better. It's so clean. It's more brighter and light up than other locations. It's down the street from Won Kok & Shang Hai dumplings. Love both those restaurants. Their shelves are always stocked. I love I get to choose my $10/10 yoplait yogurt and they have more flavors (because other locations, ppl just grab every thing). Their shelves are so well organized. They have baskets for you in the front, as they should! It's not all gone or lost. Or customers stupidly take it home. Staffs here are great. They greet you. Ask if you're finding everything fine. If you need help looking for something. Even when you didn't ask them. How cool is that!!?

The manager at this Monterey Safeway store is the best. Helpful and understanding. Thank you. Linda Nellessen

Sally deserves a raise! She was very helpful and kind, unlike other staff members here at this store. She is the only one that seems eager to help and makes sure you've found what you were looking for. Sally, if you're reading this, your hard work and efforts don't go unnoticed!

I have been going to this safeway since way back then when bacon was like 2 for $4. Life is not that fortunate anymore. I rarely go to safeway anymore. I only come when it is a last minute decision and I am craving something unhealthy like juice, ice cream, or cereal. Otherwise, I just go to costco to get all the important stuff or I go to asian markets for the condiments and sauces. Covid made me cook more. Ramble over!

This Safeway needs a lot of help! This is the first Safeway I've ever been to that is so poorly managed! A bunch of the meats looked spoiled and seems like it's not properly refrigerated, some vegetables had mold, the eggs had water droplets meaning it also was not being properly refrigerated, the hot whole chicken did not have an exact packaged date, only month and year! The card machine on the very end register near the vegetables and the one next to that have constant problems (happened me and my Gf plus the person in front of us and behind us). I hope corporate sees this and does an investigation on this location. Management here needs to step up and do their job

The place could stand a serious remodeling, and more often than not you'll find yourself in a 6 person line with 1 register open. But it's convenient and usually clean, and in a pinch it's a good grocery option. I wouldn't make it my regular store, but for a quart of milk or bag of salad on the way home from work, it does the job.

They are still very diligent and following all Covid protocols. The shopping carts are always carefully cleaned by dedicated workers, and the cashiers all wear masks and gloves.

This is what a good Safeway store is all about. Good management with great diversity. Just because you are a particular race, it does not mean you should hire your own race. It does not matter what color you are. The only thing that's matter is Good and Bad. If you have good customer service, then the store will be good, if you have bad customer serve, the store will bad. So far the store has been very good, because there are nice people working there. This is what I like about this Safeway. There are diversity employees out here. Every businesses should learn from this example, and this is what we all need, diversifications, not racism.

They are a great neighborhood Safeway. Always well stocked and friendly workers. I've been going here for years.

This Safeway has a great selection of vegan and vegetarian options. I was actually fairly surprised and will now be going here regularly! The store is on the smaller side but you can get everything you need. I don't understand the reviews about rude cashiers, I've only had pleasant experiences with them!

Do yourself a favor to never come to this Safeway. It's small and rundown with awful employees. I went in this morning to get a breakfast burrito- there were no active employees watching the desk so I kindly asked a young girl in the back if anyone was able to help me out- and she rudely replied "I'LL BE OVER THERE IN A SECOND" while rolling her eyes. And THEN she comes over with the same gloves that she was using to wash dishes with and starts grabbing the cooking supplies without any intent of changing her gloves or washing her hands- so I proceeded to say never mind- you aren't even changing your gloves and left. I will be contacting OSHA because that is absolutely disgusting and I can only imagine what else they allow while handling food.

Not all Safeways are the same. The difference between a well managed store vs a terrible one is apparent when you visit this one. Unfortunately, this is my neighborhood store and happens to be badly run. Expect to be stuck in a long checkout line with one cashier and hear frustrated sighs as you and your fellow sufferers ask them to open another lane. It will happen, eventually. But likely not before you have been reminded yet again that you have the misfortune of being stuck with an *incompetently managed* Safeway location in your hood. Shameful!
