My 80 year old mother with a heart condition and whom walks with a cane, was treated horribly by one of the employees at the Valencia location (a woman with red hair tied up in a bun). She was looking around the store walking with her cane when she had a dizzy spell. Having osteoporosis and many broken bones over the years, she was afraid of falling and sat down on the nearest chair. This employee who had already yelled at her for walking in an area she wasn't supposed to, rudely told my mother that she couldn't sit there and if she was going to, she would have to buy the chair. Dizzy and demoralized, she got up and managed to find a bus stop outside where she could rest. Is this seriously how you treat the elderly? What she experienced today is nothing more than elder-abuse and I can't believe this actually happened in San Francisco.

This location has vulgar personnel and doesn't deserve the donations. We took a valuable antique solid wood desk with leather inlay for donation, and they didn't want it due to scratches (of which there were few) but which can be expected from an old solid wood desk. That was odd, but not offensive other than the long wait to get this answer and the fact that we asked them if they would take it beforehand and they said they would, so we went through the effort of loading the heavy desk into a truck thinking they would take it only for them to say no when we got there because "no one would buy it". The next day we went back with some boxed goods and the person who accepted them (who had also been present the day before when we brought the desk) gave my husband the finger unprovoked when he turned to drop off the donation and my daughter saw him. At the same time another employee saw that my daughter had accidentally labeled the box (which we have reused several times and has old labels on it) as "Goodwill" and made a passive aggressive comment: "So much for goodwill, huh?" to my 23 year old daughter. These people are just plain rude, and should not be working with the public. Give your donations to a more worthy cause. It is not the first time for questionable behavior for these people but it's the worst so far.

The door was open at 9am, which read opens at 9am. I was looking at all the items, then a lady approached me, stating I had to leave, cause they weren't open yet! I told her, but your door was unlocked and open and it's 9am. Again, she said we're not open. I left. Guess, she isn't happy with her job!

A lot of people don't realize the Salvation Army is a strict Christian organization. While I can appreciate some of what they do, as homeless services are scarce, there is a downside. That downside is that any donations go to fund government lobbyists and anti-LGBT discrimination. Especially in the United States, which is part of the Canadian branch of the Salvation Army. They try to get bills passed that are anti-trans, pro-life, and as mentioned anti-LGBT. Many homeless have also said they were treated badly while in Salvation Army shelters and forced to adhere and participate in Christian behaviour. The administration at the top also get bonuses and paid very well. Please do not support this bigoted “non-profit†organization.
