I first came to Tommaso's in 1966 when a student at San Francisco State. Does anyone remember the SF Opera chorus lining the center table and singing? Or the drag queens from Finnochios? There was always a can of AquaNet in the men's restroom. What a great place!

I first went to Tommaso's about 50 years ago. They have always had the most excellent marinated vegetables, pizza, pasta and other Italian dishes. I don't get there too often anymore but my son took me there for my birthday last night. Delicious as usual. I had the manicotti and meatballs.

Finally a no frills Italian restaurant like you can get on the east coast! The Caesar salad was amazing. The penne vodka was so filling with a heaping amount of pancetta. They also had olive oil & vinegar at the table. Also loved their private label wine. I can’t wait to come back and try more dishes!

My family has been enjoying Tommaso’s food — especially the pizza — since 1980; 44 years. This restaurant is the real deal, as far the Tommaso family raising children in North Beach, attending church in North Beach, and running a business in North Beach — way before I even thought about moving to North Beach. It’s a terrific restaurant with deep roots in the neighborhood.Kid-friendliness: Of course children are welcome and appreciated in Tommaso’s; it’s an Italian restaurant, owned by a warm and generous Italian family!

What a beautiful dining experience. When you walk in you are greeted by the smell of garlic and other delicious aromas. Go and enjoy this establishment without second thoughts and make sure you get some dessert as well.

I've had dinner here in the past and the food is great. What's not great is the ramshackle homeless shelter out front. This establishment has constructed a gigantic "parklet" structure that extends almost a block. I walked by a few days ago and there was what looked like 4-5 men living in it (I don't mean just sleeping for a night, they are fully moved in). Not sure what to make of it as it was honestly almost unbelievable, I will add a photo when I can. It is my opinion that the owners of this establishment should demolish the useless structure as soon as possible instead of contributing to the deterioration of the neighborhood.

Their food is exquisite. Omg, during October, their mushroom lasagna is everything!!! Please do yourself a favor and go to Tommasos.

There was a (not small) maggot in the salad. No apology of any kind from the waiter, not even a free drink. We refused to pay and left.

The pizza was extremely soggy. There was a mosquito flying around as well on our table. The service could have been much better as well.

I walked into Tommaso's on a whim and I'm glad I did. As soon as I walked in I was greeted and seated with water. I was able to order immediately and received my food I what felt less than 10 minutes and WOW. I got the lasagna and it was delicious. The meat sauce packed a great flavor that was perfectly balanced with the rest of the dish. Everyone was polite. Will be a staple in my visits to SF.
