Had dinner here with my friends on our trip and it was amazing! The staff was super friendly. Shout out to Paolo from Italy!! My friends and I had a great time here and the food was very good. I recommend trying the crème brûlée. One of the best I ever had.

This is a great restaurant for a nice night out - perfect if you are attending theater at S.F. Playhouse (just next door), or the Toni Rembe theater (ACT’s home stage, formerly the Geary) or the Curran, both a block or two away on Geary. The food is delicious Mediterranean — I recommend the Branzino or Salmon — it’s well-marked for gluten free or vegetarian, and the staff is warm and friendly. The vibes are fantastic. This restaurant took over Farallon’s old space, and features all the beautiful sea decor, including lamps like swimming jellyfish and the mosaic tiles of an old public pool decorated with sea gods and goddesses. A must-do in Union Square!

Fabulous place, great ambiance and awesome food. I can say it's little pricey but it's in downtown SF and it's fine dine so it's totally justify it.Parking is always a big challenge in SF, you must be luck to find one in good price.

You will likely be enchanted by Ula Restaurant's nautical theme as I was when I went to Farallon Restaurant years ago. The friend who took me to Ula for Valentine's Day has the place dialed in and perfectly time to slip through a side door to the SF Playhouse without walking in the rain. The drinks and food were fabulous - just the right balance of crunchy, soft, savory and sweet. Enjoy a meal here!

Worst food I’ve ever had and it’s so overpriced. It was so expensive for small portions of unflavored, gross food. Terrible cocktail as well. I didn’t have more than two bites or two sips of anything. It was clear it had been microwaved and not made fresh. Will never go back. An obvious tourist trap.

5 star experience dining here! I totally recommend the pasta and crabs. The architecture is stunning. It is very affordable compared to what you get. Little restaurants offer this!

Maybe its because we have dined at some of the finest restaurants in the states and in Europe that the food experience here was underwhelming. The service was okay. The atmosphere was very nice as I see patrons still dressing up as they did when this location was the famous Farallon.

Bruce, our server, was outstanding. The tapas were good although the cheese board was uninspired.. BUT-- it is an inexcusable management failure that one of us could not have a featured specialty cocktail because the bar had run out of pisco. Wake up! Are there no liquor stores in SF where the bar manager could have obtained the keyingredient for what's supposed be a signature beverage?

We would not come back to Ula. The staff was great, beautiful place but the food was not good. We ordered several appetizers and did not think any of them were worth the price. Quality of food was poor.

Food was really late. Like even for getting drinks we were waiting for so long. Food was not good at all especially the main dish. The ambiance is nice. Waiter never checked up on us. Not worth the money.

We booked for Valentine's Day for an event that promoted a live jazz band. We were sat in the back under a drop ceiling (with staining) and felt very forgotten. The food was fair (prix fixe), the service was decent. We ordered oysters (had a lot of sediment and shell), both croquettes (decent), one of each salad, a filet mingnon, and the salmon. No wine pairings for courses, just a list to choose (which is fine). Dessert was ok as they were out of our first choices. No dinner pairings/drinks offered. Felt like we were an afterthought most of the night as our food came late and we waited 20 minutes after dishes cleared to get the bill. If you come to an event with music, unless you're at the front, don't bother. The sound in the back was full of tinny speakers playing weird 60's/90's/00's music that was all over the place and distracting (did not fit the venue). It was weird walking from the back to the bathrooms as the music/sound clashed. While the space is a cool piece of history. We remember when it was the Farallon, and were excited to see any updates to the space (not many/any of note). Ghere was little updated and our corner booth and lighting (lights flickered). Where we sat was dated and stained (looked like a ceiling in a bar that once allowed smoking and never replaced the drop ceiling tiles). We likely won't be back as the cost of the night's menu, even if you factored gratuity, was significantly more than if you ordered each of the most expensive items in each category.
