It will make little difference because it’s a government agency. But, you shouldn’t be in a hurry if you cine here. The last three times I’ve tried, they’ve had one person serving and a line. It is not efficient. It’s a great example of how government agencies are the last resort.

Not that it matters cuz it's never going to change but 36 minutes in the lobby waiting and they're only two people in front of me.

The staff at the 18 th street post office is really nice, especially when you get to know them. They even greet you by name.I always look forward to seeing them as I deliver packages to them for shipping almost every day.

Bought a bunch of dried goods in Chinatown and on a visit to Castro we decided to ship back everything rather than carrying on the plane. The staff was super friendly and even assisted in packing. Made my life easy! Miss living in SF!

Good place to mail something. If your package is already labeled, you can simply drop it off on the counter where it says "drop-off." If you're here for a passport appointment or something else that requires human assistance, you might wait for a few minutes depending on how busy it is. Packing supplies, greeting cards, and a small assortment of gift cards are sold here.

Pretty reasonable service for a busy post office. Print your labels at home to avoid longer lines during rush hours. :)

There's one staff member here that's always friendly and really tries to go the extra mile. I really appreciate her. Unfortunately, the rest of the staff that I've interacted with seem to hate their jobs and the service here has been steadily going downhill for years now. One of the most frustrating things about this post office is how they constantly misplace and lose packages. You show them a tracking number that shows the package arrived and it's hit or miss. If they can't find it, they'll tell you to "come back another day". You go back a few days later and they still can't locate it. And then when they do locate the package (if they ever do), they send the package back to the sender because you didn't pick it up (WTF?!). This has happened so often over the years that now, whenever I have a package arriving at this location, I make the sign of the cross, say 10 Hail Marys and (despite not being a believer) pray to the Virgin that the package will actually make it into my hands in one piece. If you're expecting a package here, don't hold your breath. Also, good luck calling them; they never answer their phones.

For an urban post office, while it’s often quite busy, the waiting time for service is remarkably short and the willingness of the staff to help with postings remains quite generous. Post offices aren’t the most highly funded of semi-government institutions, and I think it’s impressive how well they operate with comparatively little appreciation.
