The worst possible retail pharmacy experience you can ever imagine. Impossible to get through to on the phone. Send text messages about prescriptions being ready and then when you go to pick up they are not ready. Long lines to get to the pharmacy clerk. No concept of even basic customer service. One star is way too good of a rating - this place will do nothing but waste your time.

Prescription was almost an hour late and the pharmacist was completely unapologetic. Refused to expedite it and made me wait for 40 min to fill just one drug. Incredibly bad service!

Calling/dealing with the pharmacy at this location has been problematic over the years and customer service is hit or miss, but yesterday I called with a question about a scrip and the person answering at the pharmacy was exceedingly rude. Her attitude was dripping out of the phone. There’s also usually a good sized line for prescriptions, so count on spending 20-30 min waiting. The main store staff seem to be good. There’s less stock locked up behind plexi, unlike locations downtown or up around market, or up in the Castro. This location also has its share of crazies wandering in and around but seems safer (less sketch/ less zombies) than the one by General, off Potrero.Something to note: this location does have an indoor lot available (30min. customer parking) off 4th with a couple spaces, but it ALWAYS seems to have a pick-up or two from nearby construction sites filling spots (and making it tough to navigate in there) most of day, so look for street parking or use transit.

The employees at the pharmacy are awful. No one ever answers the phone, medications are commonly rejected due to the the team not sending it for approval. We constantly have to micromanage.

Don’t bother calling the pharmacy, they hung up on me twice after I sat on hold for 20+ minutes each time. Once without saying a word, just audible noise letting me know they picked up and then hung up. Currently on hold again, fingers crossed.

The Walgreens pharmacy at 4th & Townsend is run HORRIBLY. Mismanaged, and perpetually understaffed. This used to be a good pharmacy, but since the pandemic, something changed, and now there only (1) cashier EVER, with an approximate wait of 30-40 mins. Their excuse each time? "Sorry, we just understaffed today." For a leading corporate entity like this to be understaffed is not acceptable. We've now transferred all our pharmacy business over to Safeway on the corner of King/4th. While the store itself is a train wreck of illicit activity including armed guards at the front and everything in locked gates at the front, the pharmacy is a little known oasis of convenience with very friendly staff members. AVOID Walgreens Pharmacy on 4th/Townsend at all cost.

3 times now I have called and asked if they carry certain items. It takes a minimum of 10-15 minutes on hold for them to get someone that can understand the language I am speaking (English). On all 3 occasions I've been told "no" just to see, later, that they DO, in fact, carry said items.

Had to wait for over an hour for a flu shot for which I made an appointment in advance. When I confronted the staff about that they had an apathetic reaction like "it's business as usual".

Complete waste of my time. I have an Rx for a controlled substance for a disability and am treated like a criminal for trying to get the medication I need. My regular pharmacy in Oakland was out, and I called here to check before having my doctor send the Rx because I have to pay $15 for a prescription refill (she is very busy and $$$). I was told they have the medication in stock, but the pharmacist gave me a hard time about my residing in Oakland. I work two blocks from this location and explained that, and finally the pharmacist told me to send it over. When I went to pick it up, it wasn't ready. I got a call 20 minutes later telling me they couldn't fill it for me and that I needed to send the Rx back to Oakland. I explained they have been out of stock, and that I work nearby. Then the woman changed her story to "we don't have enough". Go bleep yourself. Thanks for nanking the world even harder to navigate with a disability.

Each and every Walgreens in San Francisco is certainly unique in character that's often has a lot to do with the location of the pharmacy/ retail store within the study and a huge factor is the customer service of the actual employees within the store stores in the city can range from nice experiences that are quick in and out and friendly staff to under stocked irritated rude and downright unprofessional this particular Walgreens gets four out of five stars based on my last visit only as customer service was fine however products were lacking

I was forced to move my prescriptions to this Walgreens due to the company closing all their stores that were closer. I have the store more than a year, but have moved my prescriptions to another store a little further away. The staff at this store isn't very friendly. What's more, they make mistakes like double charging, telling me an order is ready when it isn't, or not charging a prescription to insurance. This is also a smaller Walgreens so they can't keep as much in stock as larger stores (not the staff's fault.)

Do not make a flu shot appointment here, you will wait a very long time.I came here for a 10:40am flu shot appt. I arrived 5 mins early, waited 10 mins in line, then waited 60 mins to get the shot. In that time, I saw:- An elderly man get denied for a walk-in covid booster, because they didn't have enough shipments. There was no signage at the time indicating that walk-ins were not allowed. He told me he's on-call 24/7 and can't make an appt, so it was really important for him to know when walk-ins would be allowed. Staff didn't know.- A man who drove in from Reno, only for the pharmacy to be alerted after he arrived that what he needed was delayed. They could not answer him when he asked when it would come in.- Someone with a 10am flu shot appt got their shot at 10:45. They were lucky their wait was that short.- A FedEx worker kept waiting to see if there was any pickups for the day. Pharmacy workers were too busy to get to her quickly.- Someone get denied via credit card for their flu shot appt. There was no way to delay payment to get the shot, so they skipped it.The workers were courteous, friendly, and professional throughout. They worked together to put out clear signage that there were no walk-ins (after they got a very late alert that they only had enough vaccine stock to satisfy appts). But what a horribly run company. Whatever their employees are paid, it's not enough. I picked this location because I live close by. I will not be coming back.

I called the pharmacy to check on my mother's medication only to be placed on hold 3 times. The first time I was asked if I would hold and I said yes. The next two times, the person on the other end of the phone didn't even wait for a response, "This is Walgreens Pharmacy could you please hold?" and then the music picked back up. There wasn't even time for response. Terrible service.
