Heaven forbid you need to send money through WesternUnion multiple times. Not only will you not be able to they decide for you if you can or cannot send money to Friend's family and loved ones whether they are living in a different country or on vacation because of their card being denied while on vacation. So they reach out for help asking to provide some cash while they resolve their bank card. Western Union has a very poor customer service when they call to verify if you are trying to send money ask a couple of questions and determine if that money will be sent or not once they've determined it's been denied. They advise your transaction has been denied and hang up immediately. They never give the opportunity for you to speak or ask a question as to why it was denied. Their email is very vague on providing information or details as to why it was denied. I'd like to say thank you but I can't because you never provided a service. Doesn't matter which location branch you go to the outcome is the same.

Terrible. Western Union is no longer reliable for money transfers. New tenant wired $ to our local WU and they put a hold on it. After driving 30 mi. we did not get the rent, and $ is being refunded to new tenant. It has made a long distance transaction impossible. This is a professional moving into our area that is trying to rent our apartment. WTH! I will never use WU ever again. Not sure how they have stayed in business this long. If you have a similiar request find a different source. They transfer you to a Secialist, and the call magically gets dropped! Way to go WU!!!!

I have been using western union to send money to Philippines for years. Last night I sent $4,900 through western union on line, before i continued my transaction I called the customer service to make sure that my sending U.S dollars and receive in U.S. dollars. I wanted my receiver in Philippines to receive the money in U.S. dollar. So I paid for their charges for Dollar to Dollar. Now my receiver just messaged me and said that western union in Philippines will not give him the U.S dollars instead they will give him the conversion of Philippine Pesos. this is not fair. So, apparently the customer service lady I spoke with was lying. I didnt know that western union is a scammer.

There are far better money sending services that I would prefer to use than WU. So it started with me sending $2.5k dollars to India in mid June 2021. I went for in store transfer in Fred Myers as the website was not allowing me to schedule an amount of $2.5k online. For some reason, they said that they could not allow so much for cash pick up and told me that I would get a refund and it would take around 14 days to issue. After 14 days I called them as I could not see the refund, and they told me that they had not acknowledged the transfer, so my bank would have to issue a refund. So I called my bank and they told me to file a dispute and they will investigate it. I did that and after one month, the bank came back and told me that they could not issue me the credit as I had my money already debited. So I contacted WU again and they told me that the money was ready for the receiver to pick up. And I told them that I had already sent the receiver through some other means and immediately requested to issue me a refund. Since the money was not picked up by the receiver (which is so dangerous, as if the money would have already been picked, I would have lost all the money), they issued me a refund and gave me a new MTCN number which I can take to the store and collect the money. THIS IS SO HORRIBLE, that after assuring me a refund they still went ahead and processed my original request and made money available to the receiver but the story doesn't end here So I went to the store with my new MTCN number and they told me that they cannot give cash to the tune of $2.5k. So I went to another WU store and they told me the same thing. Then I called the customer service again and the person called Kabir, spoke very rudely with me but still managed to give me the new store address which would be able to process my request. Then I went to that store and they gave me the same reply that they could not arrange for so much money. Luckily it was a safeway location and they had the money, so the nice lady did told that they can honor my request. But guess what, when she tried to take the money, WU website showed that I was being serviced at some other treminal. Now this is because the previous 2 stores that I inquired, some idiot WU employee there forgot to log me out and it was another 20 minutes call with their customer service. The safeway store employees then called the WU office from their store and they managed to shut the other location access and give me the refund finally! To see my own money, I had to go through so many loops which is unacceptable. The entire way in which they run their business is SHADY at best and there are so many loopholes where the customer can easily lose their money. If the money would have been picked up by the receiver (whom I had already sent them money before through other means because WU initially told me they could not honor the request) had picked up the money, I would have lost it. If the store employee would have hit the serviced button, I would have lost it. There are just too many loopholes in their process and I advice everyone not to use WU as you could easily lose your money. At best BEWARE!!

I also made a small transfer to my mother who was vacationing in another country as a way of getting her money in minutes. For hours she stopped at a WU affiliate to pick it up and be told that there was no record of a transfer. I finally call WU to see what's the issue. Their rep tells me that there was a hold on the transfer as they needed to talk to me too ensure that it was not for money laundering or fraud. They proceed to ask me stupid questions even after I told them that it was money for my mother. They ask by what means do I communicate with my mother (?), they ask what will she spend the money on (!?), etc. I didn't get any notice that there was a hold so I didn't know I had to get in contact with WU to remove a hold. What should have taken minutes, as they state, took more than 24 hours. They was there last time I use that service.

I've been using western union for years sending money to my people, they were good and easy specifically with their app online but now I don't know what's wrong with them now they're so stupid. This is the second time I try to send money and they keep putting my transfers on hold. Get a text from them saying I need to call first, when I call they asked me a bunch of stupid questions. I'm so f****** upset now. F U western union and T U.

4 unsuccessful attempts were made, waisted 4 days and hours with customer service on the phone who were giving excuses from "must be misspelling of your address" to IT problems on their site. I ended up getting a call from a customer service representative who asked me stupid questions like "What is the reason I'm sending my relatives (days before Christmas and with 1-year pandemic worldwide) money. Just terrible experience!!

Western Union takes my money gladly, but treats me like I need them and not like I am a customer. They say money is ready for pickup and then when you arrive it is magically now on hold. Call their customer service to confirm both parties are involved in the transfer and it is my money. Customer service treats you like a fraud suspect and not like a customer. They want to know exactly what you are using your money for. Are they giving me a loan?! It was my money to begin with! Customer service is very rude and will put you on hold if you don't answer your entire life story. They will tell you they can refund your money if you don't like it, but doesn't that mean you know who I am? So am I not verified providing you will all my information? Will never use again.

Horrible! First of all they over charge, but, I've used them to wire my bf $. We are drivers and it's inconvenient because you have to put a state to pick up in. And, it's not easy finding WU that can fit a truck and trailer in. My bf tried 4 locations, either they were closed or the machine was broke. So, I tried to change the transfer to his bank account. Mind you, he's the only one I've sent money to, and it's on my history. So, I call to speak to agent to help me set this up. And, shocker the call center is in another country . After talking to this man, that could barely speak English, and doesn't help, I decided to change the pick up state(since they can't change it to his bank account). I call back and talk to next agent that informs me that I know have a security block on my account, and, the only way to change it is to go to Western Union to show a agent my I'd. So, I am the sender, I overpaid to get treated like I was a scammer. I will NEVER use them again. Worst case scenario, I will choose money gram. They deserve zero stars!

NEGATIVE FIVE STARS, if I could post such a rating. I tried sending money to someone I know personally in Central America, and my transaction was put on 'secure hold' until I contact the department responsible--for which I waited on hold for more than an hour--all for a $55.00 transaction. I even e-mailed them, and was told to contact their customer service number, which tries to advertise some service instead of getting you to a customer service representative--and then hangs up on you! Their customer service is abysmal--if you can reach them--as is their incompetence and authority to resolve issues such as this. I will NEVER use Western Union EVER again, and I advise others to avoid Western Union like the plague.

I don't know where Western Union find and recruit their employees from. They are the most RUDE CONDESCENDING AND IDIOTIC people I have ever dealt with. They are bunch of liars and and they cannot keep to their own rules and they drag out peoples money and hold on to them until people can no longer find it. They make excuses that it's the senders fault. When you ask for a manager they send you to a line that just rings and no one is there.I literally HATE THIS Place and have never felt this way towards anyone. I will post everywhere and will start sending money though another avenue. USELESS PIECES OF HORSE MANUER!!

I have had issues sending money overseas to family. In the beginning when I first sent a money transfer I understood the need for a person receiving validation, but to be asked for a validation for a second time for sending money to the same person is unacceptable.I've been on the phone with them for over 1 hour and 20 min and still no operator has answered. All for getting cleared to send money because they think I need the protection. Will not be sending money through western union again.

I tried to send money to my girlfriend in Jamaica. Western Union added a process to the procedure. They needed to talk to me personally to verify my identity. That's fine, but I had to wait on hold for two hours. They should not add extra steps if they are not staffed to handle processing them. They suck.
