On a Sunday afternoon in December, my sister was looking for snack desserts made from Japan. I found parking on the street. I forgot how small inside with crap aisles. They had hot food items and bins of cookies. It is like other Mitsuwa. Too bad it is not bigger in size.

My daughter raved about this place! Unfortunately, she meant the other one on the other side of town... Quality/Quantity - Limited selection, maybe we came too early...? We did just fly 15 hours back into the country and needed some "comfort" food. Got a sushi plate; onigiri and a teriyaki chicken bowl for the rice. All of which was good, but again, I was starving so everything tasted better. :) Atmosphere - Very small and old Japanese supermarket. Maybe I had too high expectations due to my daughter's recommendation. Either way, I would have been disappointed. Plenty of parking. Security at the door to watch and protect. Open 7 days a week from 9am to 8pm. Service - Good. See my noodles warning picture, is this a new thing? Should I be worried? Price - $27ish. Above average for cold/refrigerated supermarket food. But way more convenient than buying "takeaway" (Australian term), I mean "to-go" from a restaurant. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1998 and your 11 locations. We are still loyal customers at your San Jose, CA location. We also like visiting your location in HI when we are in town.

The best Asian Market ever, you can find whatever you need. The parking lot isn’t that big but you will definitely have somewhere to park as a turnover is fast!

Fun selection of Japanese snacks and candies. Frozen unagi was pretty good. I like that I could get shiso leaves here. Lower rating due to store's cramped feeling and long line. Security doesn't even let you put your groceries on the counter when previous person is checking out. Kind of ridiculous. It would be faster if second in line can start putting things down. Parking lot available.

Nice store. Great Japanese food needs. Mor bento lunches should be made though.

Always here for nice, affordable and fresh convenience food for breakfast and sometimes lunch too.The staff here is friendly and helpful. Some of merchandise is kinda expensive but you can’t find this elsewhere so it’s worth the price.

This market is very tiny compared with all the larger Mitsuwa stores. And they don't have the 6pm half price sushi special. They told me it was up to the manager's mood that day. Seriously?!

This one is probably the smallest of the Mitsuwa market places. I came at 5pm. Most of the sushi disappeared. Nobody touched the alcohol or bought any. This place has okay fish. The torrance one is the nicest one. It has big food court. The tokyo central in torrance or gardena is also nice. There are handful of small ones, I haven't been to. I tried their eel rice. It was a bit old. I think it was almost for that 20% discount sticker when it hits 7pm. I think the super market at little tokyo is better. Tokyo central west covina that one is also good. Vegetables are so so. I rather go to 99 ranch or H mart for veggies or red meat. This place could be a tad cleaner and the end caps could look a tad bit less run down.

Came looking for onigiri and it did not disappoint. The flavor is amazing. Best tuna mayo I've had over la. It's giving a smaller scale of Japan 7 eleven in San Gabriel. Prices are reasonable compared to other places.

Shopping in San Gabriel, California... My friend, Mikey, didn't know what arare (mochi crunch) was. Trying to describe it is too challenging. Why not just have him taste this savory Japanese rice cracker? Yes... I could have brought arare from home. We have Mitsuwa Marketplace in Honolulu. I just thought that arare is a common snack. I found out after I had left Hawaii that Mikey hadn't experienced mochi crunch! Anyway... I searched for Mitsuwa Marketplace in LA and found this location at the corner of Rosemont Boulevard and Las Tunas Drive. There's free parking behind the store. The interior is clean and neat! I found arare (and the regular fresh produce, frozen foods, refrigerated items, Asian cooking ingredients, noodles, tea, seaweed, etc.) easily! Service was efficient and pleasant. I was done in no time! I got a variety of arare, a Hello Kitty snack, and some munchies to eat later on! Hee hee!

I recently went here and I've got to say there food is amazing it's fresh and has the quality of Japanese food and snacks. But the reason for the 4 stars is that I saw some product had cancer causing ingredients so I would recommend looking at your product before buying. Other than that I recommend everything they have good service and good food . ( try the sushi!!!!!!!)

We regularly shop at Mitsuwa to get specific items not readily available at most area grocers, at least that we are aware of. We mostly get our Jidori chicken (whole and parts) from Mitsuwa. Occasionally, we will get them at Eataly Century City, if we are out that way. My wife purchased Jidori chicken yesterday morning around 10AM and we brought it right home. This morning as she was opening the multiple packages to start cooking she immediately smelled that some of the chicken was just about to go bad and she threw those out. The odor somewhat dissipated after opening so it would seem to be futile trying to take it back for a refund w/o it emanating a stronger odor. A big hassle to make a special trip, too. She had to go out and buy more chicken for the recipe anyway delaying her cooking. Anyone know of other sources for Jidori chicken (esp small whole chicken, +-3 lbs) in west SGV?

Great place for Asian groceries. Found some great beer and tacoyaki for dinner. Plus some great onigirie spicy salmon.
