Ever since I saw a rug tufting video pop up in my feed, I've been wanting to give this a try. I went with the medium frame (28" x 24") for $120 as the small size (18" x 18" for $100) seemed too small to be practical. I would say the medium size worked great for me & my partner, but if it's your first time and you're by yourself then the small would probably be best as this is a long and somewhat tedious process. When I first arrived, I was a bit overwhelmed by how crowded the room was. They have lots of tables & chairs crammed in with not much space in between so you'll be bumping into your neighbors often. It took like 10 minutes for us to get set up with our projector as we had to wait for one to be freed up and to my surprise it only works with iphones so android users beware. Thankfully my partner has one or else I'm not sure what I would have done. After we finished outlining, another staff member gave us a tutorial on using the tufting gun and let us choose from their extensive yarn collection. Initially the gun they gave us was broken so we had to wait another 10 minutes for them to fix it. I didn't notice until the end of the workshop but our gun was kind of funky and didn't tuft as well as other people's, which I could see visually on the canvas. It took us about 3 hours to finish tufting, then we handed over our rug to the staff to add a backing. After the backing was added, we were given an electric razor to shave down the yarn in front to make everything level. Again, we didn't notice until the end that the shaving guard was slightly crooked so it took us a while to get it even. Another note is that the backing isn't great quality and I feel like they could have done a better job trimming it. In a few spots they trimmed too closely to the canvas so the yarn was hanging out and could easily be unraveled. Even with the parts that have the backing, you could easily pick out pieces of yarn as it isn't glued down well, making this rug a decorative piece rather than a practical every day rug. Overall the experience took about 6 hours, but there's also a lot of waiting happening so you're not active that whole time. Make sure you truly block out your whole day for this and pick an image that doesn't have too many details or colors if it's your first time. I am proud of my rug and think it came out really well!

Great place to do rug tufting in the Bay Area, my friend and I have been wanting to do this activity for awhile and chose to go here (originally we wanted to do it in Palo Alto or San Francisco but all of those studios were booked up or extremely pricey). This place is $10-30 cheaper than most places in the Bay Area so that was nice for $$$ (all of the studios in the Bay Area are minimum $100-120 for the going rate) We ran 30-45 minutes late to our appointment, but the staff were still nice and accommodating to us. We started around 1pm and ended around 7pm (the lovely staff stayed late to help us with our rugs, very much appreciated). Staff members help you along the way of creating your rug and after with cleaning up your project The set up of the studio is very "chill," you are in a seperate room from the main entertainment room with groups of people doing the rug tuffing. After a quick run and tutorial, you get to tuft on your own for however long you would like. There is a wide selection of yarn colors and you practically can do any design: highly suggest to a larger design if you want a lot of detail and "shading." I highly suggest that you bring snacks and/or eat beforehand as you should anticipate to spend at least 3-5 hours, especially for us because we did two medium sized frames. Definitely coming back here for more rug designs!

Such a cool experience! My friend and I had a reservation for 2 medium rugs. When we got there we showed the workers our images that we wanted to tuft and they used a projector to enlarge the image onto the canvas. They then taught us how to use the tufting gun and even let us practice using it. We outlined our projected images with a marker then went to work! They gave plenty of advice, feedback, and even assistance to ensure our rugs came out lovely. We took about 7 hours and we were so excited and happy with the results! They are very transparent about the prices upon reservation and I think it was worth the experience and quality

I took the week off from work to spend time with my daughters and was looking for some fun activity to do with this. I remembered seeing this on social media and thought it would be such a fun and great experience and also great memories! Unfortunately, we didn't plan in advance and when you book online, it provides you with time/s for the following day but I needed a same day booking and tried to reach out on Instagram Message, calling the phone number on their Instagram, and even tried texting. I was determined to see if it was a possibility to be the activity for the day.I did get a message back via Instagram but no sooner than they responded, I also responded on time and other info but no further response. We were just in the area, so I told my daughters, let's just head over there and see.Crossing our fingers, the guy, David initially was like, no, you have to book a reservation because it's just me and we are full. I think he took pity on me and my girls. lol so, he allowed us to join in the activity which I'm so grateful for.David walked us through the ins and outs of Tufting 101 and was very thorough and very attentive when we needed his help which was pretty often. My daughters had a great time and plan on coming back in the near future. One of the best activities of all time and pricing wasn't too bad considering it included time of instructions and materials. I would say it was pretty fair. The finish product was pretty good for it being their first time! Color me impressed. If you're looking for something different and fun, I would totally recommend checking them out but book in advance.

My sister actually took my corgi rug with her to college... But I think it was 100 for the class or something? That's how much I zelled my coworker I think? Once you go in, they'll teach you how to use the rug tufting gun, and you can pick a design to draw onto the board via projector(in opposite order). After messing with the yarn and having to do cleanup for a while, you eventually manage to start making stuff! Just make sure to go dense on your carpet tufts. Ask the staff for help often, and get your moneys worth! I would go again, but only with people who haven't gone. I saw a lot of couples doing it, so maybe that if you've found someone in peak cuffing season, haha. You can get a deal where you can do a larger one for more. They also have other crafts and stuff you can sign up for. It's something you gotta cross off your bucket list!(Because this is the ONLY rug tufting thing I've ever done, this automatically goes into my GOAT list for "Best Rug Tufting". Go figure?)

This place is the best tufting experience to make a rug! The staff was really friendly, informative, and took the time to teach and answer any questions we had before using the tufting gun and materials to make our rug. The location was really spacious and there were plenty of tables to make your rug with your partners or friends! They have enough shades of colors for yarn to use to make for your rug as well. The prices to make the rugs are fair and it is listed on their website. I purchased the medium size rug which was $118 and the size was about 26 x 28 inches. The tufting process can be challenging the first time if this is your time making rug before, but it does take a lot of practice and the staff were really supportive and helpful while you make your rug!

One of the best crafting and learning experiences I've ever done! My team booked this for a team building event, the smallest size since it's quite time consuming! When we got there, I was intimidated by the setup and then the training, but once I got started with the tufting gun, it was actually quite intuitive. I ended up picking one of the more involved designs of my group, so mine took the longest. I am soooo happy with how it came out and we all had an absolute blast. Very well organized, fun, and unique. I came away with a beautiful rug, a sense of accomplishment, and a sore arm :) Highly recommend and I will certainly be back to do a bigger rug on my own once my arm is up to it!

We had a lot of fun tufting our customized design that I created with my boyfriend. We got there at 12 and finished at 4:30pm that included tracing our image to finalizing trimming our carpet. The staff was very nice and taught us how to tuft and helped us with any questions we had in the process. In the beginning they gave us a short tutorial to learn the basics and practice in front of the instructors. They also check in on you to see if your carpet is looking correct as well. I think it's a good price since you have unlimited yarn that is a big variety of colors for the design. It's a great date idea or you can come solo to get creative!

This is a great way to pass a Sunday afternoon with a friend! My friend and I contacted this business via WeChat and they informed us that we could make bookings on their website and add in the note that we wanted two workshops to be booked. We were initially afraid that they would forget, but I'm glad that they did allocate for both of us and set up our canvases. We booked two medium tufting frames. The day of, both of us were running late so I called to inform the workshop that we would be arriving 10-15 minutes after the start and they were very understanding! The two women who run the workshop are so sweet, definitely make sure to tip them for their service. The process includes projecting your design onto your canvas, tracing with an Expo marker, learning how to use the tufting gun, then tufting (this took SO LONG). After you're done, call one of the girls over and they'll check to make sure there's no bald spots in your rug that you need to go over. Afterwards, they'll heat up your rug, attach it to a sort of cardboard/paper backing, and then you can shave and trim your rug as you see fit.I loved peeking in on what everyone else was making- there were couples making rugs of their pets and girls making Sanrio characters. My friend opted to make a Discord emote she liked, and I opted to make a baby Snoopy from Peanuts sleeping since I thought it'd be cute to have in my bedroom! I had extra canvas room and asked the girls if I'd be able to create extra rugs, and they confirmed. I created two small heart rugs but only one was able to be salvaged (the other one tore in the canvas, typically they warn against this if you tuft horizontally but can fix it by cutting out extra canvas and stitching it behind the tear but I decided the hassle wasn't worth it). Everyone who says that you should bring food and water is right. I picked up pastries from Tous Les Jours 3 minutes away for my friend and I to split, and it helped us get through the entire stretch. While the workers were steaming our rugs, my friend went next door to Gong Cha to get a drink to tide herself over for the time being, lol. I would actually really appreciate it if they sold some sort of sticky backing to the rug to make it stay in place, because it does sort of go all over the place. We asked the workers if they sold anything of the sort, but they didn't have a clue what we were talking about. We decided to purchase this separately on Amazon. Everything was very fun, I'd love to go back to take one of their paint pouring classes with a friend.

This was our first time here, and we booked two medium sized rugs. It took us 6 hours total, but we were the first people to finish. There is around 1 hour of instruction, including how to use the tufting gun and other steps. The workshop is best if you prepare a design ahead of time but are also open to some changes on the fly. We used Pinterest to find designs we liked. They have a really good selection of yarn colors that are more or less guaranteed to look good together no matter how you mix them. That takes a lot of legwork out of the equation because you can pick the general colors. I recommend not using too much black outline and having some variety in color values. It was somewhat cramped in the studio, and they keep it dark at first because you use a projector to trace your design onto the rug material.I also recommend bringing a snack and beverage, as the workshop is very long and starts around lunch time. Keep it tidy though. The instructors were very communicative and knowledgeable. They kept the workshop engaging and answered our questions. They were also very busy throughout, so I was impressed with how proactive the were the entire time. I got a big hole in my rug right off the bat and one of the instructors helped me fix it.This is a bit more involved than a paint or pottery class, in my opinion, but it is somewhat unassuming when you sign up. I took off 1 star because I think some people might not enjoy it as much, if they're not prepared to put in effort to learn the techniques and make their rug look nice. Most of the people in my workshop (around 15?) were having fun, but I don't think this is for everyone. It was very difficult and I was very tired by the end. I don't think two people should share a rug (to save money?) It's best if one person makes one rug. It also gets cramped when 2+ people share a station -- I think the business should consider making a rule about this actually. Finally, medium is probably the best size. Small is quite a bit tinier, I think it can only be used as display. Large is definitely too large for me -- it takes considerably longer, I'd guess 7+ hours, and it will show mistakes more easily.

We had such a GREAT time! The instructor David was awesome with tips and his tutorial it helped us feel comfortable using the tufting gun. First time tufting and by the end of the workshop I felt comfortable using the tools and yarns. Can’t wait to go back! Thank you for providing a workspace for me to hang out with friends and be creative.

I had heard good things and had never tried tufting so I was excited for this! My gf and I decided to tuft our cats. The shop isn't very large, it probably only seats 8 groups. They provide everything- instructions, materials, and equipment. The process takes a LONG time- be prepared to be there for hours or take multiple sessions. That being said it was super enjoyable, and I will come again for another rug :)One thing we disliked was advice from the instructors varied, and we were stuck making adjustments to our rug repeatedly. Try not to leave too much space between lines!

We went tufting in the evening and the instructor David was still very responsible and patient to us, even in the late night he had helped us tailor our tufting work and finished it till very late night. Also he gave very clear and detailed instructions to us when teaching tufting which makes the experience very handy and smooth! Very good service and highly recommend.

Fun activity! My bf and I were a bit ambitious in choosing the large + tracing our cats (vs a 2D image). It took us ~1 hr to finish tracing and finish the tufting training. ~3 hours to tuft, ~2 hrs to "fill in the blanks"/fix some stuff, and 1 hr to wait + complete the finishing touch. It's easy to get a hang of it, but it's also easy to get tired tufting. The gun was kinda heavy for me so I'm glad we chose to do one together. We misunderstood some of the instructions. We were told we didn't need to make the lines super close to each other, so we were pretty lax with our lines in the back. However, when the staff checked the rug for us, they warned us that it might look and feel too empty. Tbh, it looked okay from the front (for us), and felt mega soft so we low key wanted to leave it as is...mainly because we were exhausted and hungry, but we sucked it up and fixed the majority of it as per suggested. After filling in all the blank spaces, the rug felt more sturdy. The yarns are super soft to the touch & definitely feels better than the carpet at home LOL. It was super hard for us to tuft the super thin lines (ie for the whisker, nose, mouth, eyes, etc), so I feel like maybe next time we should tuft the body color first before doing the detail. I also accidentally tore the canvas because I didn't push the gun in hard enough so I left a hole. They were able to patch it up to us and you can't even tell where the hole was. Just for reference - large (36x36) fits right in front of a door frame. They give us the canvas, but we don't actually fill up the whole thing with yarn, so the final product is prob smaller than 36x36. I also noticed that most people cut the rug in the shape of their design, so it doesn't need to be square/rectangle.
