I have been an Aesop frequenter since post-pandemic 2021, spending thousands of dollars annually for top-notch formulations and excellent customer experience at several locations around the Bay Area.Every cent spent toward this international retailer was rendered worthless today following several mishaps with location manager Adrian. At 1 PM, I stopped by to re-stock on a parsley seed cleanser and geranium body balm. While I searched for a parsley seed cleanser, Adrian assisted with gathering the latter (I specifically told Adrian I needed the “geranium leaf body balm”). At the check-out kiosk with Adrian, I had asked if the parsley seed cleanser (it was an oil formulation) was the only cleansing formulation of the parsley seed line, to which Adrian said yes. Once I got home, I realised this was not the case—there was indeed a gel-like alternative to the oil formulation—and I realized Adrian had given me the Geranium Leaf Body Cleanser instead of the Geranium Leaf Body Balm.As I was home 30 mins north in Palo Alto, I called this location back: Adrian corrected that he misinterpreted my question as to the parsley seed product line. Understandable. And partially no fault for neglecting to clarify. About the Geranium Leaf product mishap, Adrian was apologetic. I was told I could go to the Stanford Shopping Center, five minutes away, to swap the products. Despite Stanford’s hours showing it as open, the lights are off and the door locked. My only option is to go back to San Jose. I call this San Jose location’s number back to see if they’d be open by my arrival time of 6 PM. They say yes, and as to the closed Shopping Center, an associate who is not Adrian tells me because it is easier all smaller Aesop locations—with the exception of the larger San Jose one—are mostly closed on Easter Day. Why had not Adrian told me that when I called an hour earlier?I return to the San Jose location to initiate the swap. Adrian is there, apologetic yet obstinate in reasoning that it was my fault for not double-checking my purchases at check-out or clarifying my inquiries as to product knowledge. Adrian does absolutely nothing, apart from swapping my products to the correct ones, to mitigate these issues or the hours wasted on this $100 inconvenience, not including wasted gas.A shame to the Aesop brand that a single store manager is able to perform below the expectations of even its newest, comparatively lower paid associates. After today, I will cease all personal business to Aesop. A shocking decline in customer service is not worth these formulations, I have learned. This is a disappointment to the ethos of a brand whose employee’s performance run tangentially to its values.

1/18/24 Update - Had the pleasure of experiencing Aristotle's excellent customer service again in store. Did a guided smell-through of the entire fragrance line up. Aristotle knew all of the scent profiles by heart and was incredibly patient with my taking the time to experience each scent, while juggling and serving other customers in the store. With his help, I was able to narrow my choice of fragrance from Aesop down to two scents: Karst & Eidesis.Excited to return to the store again in the future :)

We went to Aesop since they have a 15% off sale from Dec 1st to 3rd. Service was great. We had a wonderful experience. We had a few workers assist us with answering questions and providing recommendations based on our preferences. We stayed here for some time trying their samples before making our purchase.

$110.00 for little Candle is outrageous! I used to shop here, but not anymore.

I love Aesop. The citrus hand soap and the hand lotion are stunning.

My friend and I went in to try the hand soap and were faced with an employee with the worst attitude. I commented on how the hand soap smelled good and he told me that was "the last point in mind when the hand soap was made" and that it was all about the botanicals or something. They sounded really upset to be there, I hope they find happiness and can move on to a job that makes them happier. Younger white male, shaggy brown hair. So disappointed.

This store has so many great things, it always looks super neat and customer service is great. I went back because they sprayed a scent on bag when you purchase something and I found out that they sold perfume! The employee was so helpful in finding out which perfume it was and he was great at explaining what ingredients give out which scent. I love this store!

HORRIBLE first time Experience. After admiring this brand for so long, I Finally decided to indulge and treat myself. Upon walking into the store we felt judged to be there. We were offered "help" if that's what you call it . From a young white guys with shaggy long hair + a bad atty and NEGATIVE vibes. I asked about the hand soap and immediately rushed me to the register with it and was leading with the price. I was planning on looking around possibly getting more items but I felt like we were bothering him and when I did ask questions he had a passive, aggressive, condescending answer. Geez .. I didn't know selling both care was so depressing. To be realistic he should not judge anyone , after all he is the one working retail on a Thursday afternoon . I also seen they had tea but wasn't sure if was something they sold or offered to customers. I guess I will have to visit another location to get more of my questions answered. Save your money and support another store the one in SF is way more pleasant and friendly.

The AESOP team at Valley Fair was fantastic! Daniel, Cameron and the rest of the store staff went above and beyond to answer all of my questions and provided excellent customer service. They were patient and kind as I sampled all of the different body scrubs, hand washes, lotions, etc. I ended up purchasing 4 Amsterdam travel sets for my best friends, and couldn't be happier with the purchase and overall experience - they even threw in a bunch of free samples! :)

I love the Aesop brand but unfortunately the customer service here doesn't live up, as others have stated. I walked in the other day to browse, and noticed that the sales associate clearly looked up and saw me but decided to return to texting on his phone without greeting me. The same thing happened when another group walked in. I was in the store more than 5 minutes and I even walked right by him to see if he would offer any acknowledgement or assistance, but no. He was more interested in texting than I'm doing his job. SMDH. It's no wonder they say retail is dying, because I wouldn't have to put up with judgmental workers online!

The sales associate that helped me out, Maximillian, was so sweet and friendly! I couldn’t decide what hand cream and travel set to get for the longest time, so he walked through a bunch of scents and his personal favourites with me. He was so patient and kind, and threw in a lot of extra samples for me at the end! ?
