I use this bank for my business. Recently we wanted to streamline our banking process by doing digital deposits. Unfortunately there is no way to do this. We also wanted to do a transfer to a personal BMO account, but we can't do that either. Then we thought perhaps it could be done via Zelle, but the banker informed us it cannot be done. Generally we find that when we want to do something to improve our business, BMO is not a partner who really has resources to help.

Tried to set up two factor authentication for my account. Online customer service rep told me that I can't do that. It is 21th century but BMO doesn't offer this security service?

Jamil W. At customer resolution is a JOKE and is the worst customer service agent I have EVER dealt with!!!! If I could put zero stars, I would!!!From the beginning with his bad, snippy attitude, he did not want help, and constantly interrupted every time I tried to explain why I was calling! I called in twice on the customer service line and spent over 1.5 hrs each time with no help. My daughter opened an account with Bank Of the West as a minor with a type of account that received no fees. BMO took over and started charging fees a few months later. I called in to Jamil W to get assistance reversing the fees for the minor account and to find out what changed that she would start receiving fees. He said he reversed the fees and she would have $71 in the account after the reversal. Which still does not cover all the fees they took. When I stated i wanted to close the account due to the bad service, he then stated the account now has a zero balance. He stated the account was zero back in November, but yet had a $71 balance today after he reversed the fees!!! He obviously had no idea how to do his job or what he was talking about. Contradicted himself completely from beginning of the conversation to an hour and a half later stating there was zero money in the account. Jamil w has zero customer service skills and should not be working in a position like that!

Very slow branch if you have all day go and see Travis at this location he will be sure to take he's time for your needs or you can go ask for May who has very little experience apparently!! I only come here for my elderly mother or I would never come here. Lisha B

Case 1. I ordered some foreign currency (cash) about a month ago. I receive a message on Friday that the order is ready. I come on Saturday at ~10 am and the branch is closed!!! A piece of paper on the front door advises to use the drive-up window (see photo). Guess what? The bank does not have one! They are just too lazy to have it and find one teller to provide services that cannot be provided online. Eventually I came again on Monday (last day before my flight overseas) and got my currency. They would not care if I missed the transaction and wasted my $400. Case 2. A week ago I deposited $10K dollars into my checking account. They still keep my ~$5,000 on hold! Theoretically they have the right to do so. But it never happened to me before (~5years of depositing money in this bank). It is very likely, they are low on cash (bad assets/investments? total deposits less than withdrawals?). Be forewarned, stay away.

This was a long time coming for this review. I had Janet Huynh as my mortgage lender and it didn't sit well with me. I wasn't happy with her respond of "I have a $4 million dollar loan that is more priority then yours" How rude was that?! What kind of customer service is that? I literally needed a response for a loan and took her 2 days. By that time it was too late, I had to put in a offer that had a deadline and I literally told her the urgency of it. Called me 2 days after the offer and told me sorry the bank give me loan. Well duh Sherlock, I already knew that when you weren't replying to me. I just needed a straight answer yes or no. I was lucky another mortgage broker that came through. Talking to Janet was very condescending. She needs someone to help her how to communicate to customers. I guess if you are in the $4 million dollar loan is top priority then under $1million.

I have had accounts, on and off, for many years. I opened a new one a few years ago because I wanted a brick & mortar one near me. Things have gone really well until I became unemployed so I contacted them and asked for some help in paying my MC card. After waiting for 5 weeks for a response I contacted them again and still no help! I closed my MC account and have withdrawn all but .90 out of my checking account. As soon as a find a substitute/replacement bank I plan to end permanently my relationship with them! Terrible customer service and wouldn't EVER trust them to handle my $$ again..GO ELSEWHERE!

Horrible Business Bank: Given that Bank of the West is owned by the French banking conglomerate BNP Paribas, it should give you a clue just from the name of the bank that it is one big lie. Thier sulky depressed employees clearly don't want to work there. Managers on the other hand seem to delight in being unhelpful in an almost sadistic way. They charge fees for everything, including your statement. You would be a fool to use this bank imo.

Opened a new bussiness account and from there is all down hill. The customer service number has a 1-2 hour wait and when you do get them to answer they are under trained and refer you to the branch which is under staffed as again not very customer service friendly. My atm card and checks were sent to the wrong address i was first told it's taken 3-4 weeks because the USPS has slowed mail down but then discovered they sent it wrong. I have BofA , and Wells Fargo for personal accounts and thought their service was bad and long wait lines... Save yourself and use them not Bank of the West ... Walmart should open a bank it would be better then here

Bank of the West in branch and over the phone customer service is the WORST!!! Minimum phone wait time is 45minutes. Just shockingly bad service all around

This place is horrible. I have banked in West Virginia, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and now California. This Bank of the West is the most unprofessional and unhelpful bank I’ve ever been to. From the branch manager “Miguel” to Ricardo to the supervisor Jonathan. They closed my account because I work in the cannabis industry. They wouldn’t leave it open for another 1-2 weeks so I could receive my tax return. Even though I’ve been with them almost a decade. They closed the account immediately and didn’t even give me a week to get my finances sorted out.AVOID BANK OF THE WEST AT ALL COSTS! Go to Tech Credit Union, BoA, Chase, anywhere but here. Trust me. This fiasco is such a pain in the neck for undisclosed reasons, for not doing anything illegal.
