I was led to believe that i purchased brand new snow gear not once BUT TWICE! And i wasted time and gas 2 times because i had to make multiple returns. (I live about 40 mins away) I highly dont recommend this store. If you really want to support local (like i did) maybe try the santa cruz or redwood city location. I ultimately went with sports basement in campbell instead, No problems at all. I recommend them instead. I payed 2/3 of my total in cash (over $300) and they would not reimburse me my cash, That was MAJOR MAJOR bullshit. Also the employees are a bunch of childish teenagers who couldn't find there way out of a cardboard box. They argued right in front of me very unprofessionally. Please dont waste your time in this store, or atleast be very thorough with your inspection and DONT PAY IN CASH. Over all just a very shitty experience that left a very very bad "taste in my mouth" and I highly regret being so chill about the whole situation.

Great service from Colin (or was it Conrad?) at the ski service desk again yesterday. I've been shopping at Helm for skis over the last 15 years because of good value, knowledgeable sales and a great value in the Helm Local Card. That later offers free, unlimited ski waxing and sharpening when you buy skis with Helm. Believe it's good for 3 years after purchase. Worth the extra $. Good job team.

Great place; great service. Pro tip go during the work week if you can for a boot fitting, for extra time 1:1. They are extremely patient and thorough and will spend all the time you need with them for a proper boot fitting.

Don't rent from them! I rented a pair of skis but didn't buy their "protection insurance". When I returned them, they managed to find a couple "scratches" and said they were caused by me and charged me $85 for the "damage". I only went on an easy route a few times as usual. I rented several times from sports basement and other local shop and never had this kind of issues. I will never do business with them again.

Very helpful for boot fitting (Tom) and selecting skis (Paul). Highly recommend! Tom was very thorough with his boot fitting and didn’t charge any extra for all his time. They are pretty detail-oriented and patient in working with us and their other customers. Good/fair pricing as well.

These folks are experts, and give a very high level of service. They asked numerous questions about where I ski, what types of runs I ski on and what kinds of turns I make to establish the type of skis that I needed. They then gave me a number of choices from their extensive selection of skis. They then fitted me with new boots. Their selection of boots is equally extensive. After measuring my feet, they patiently tried around eight different boots to find the best fit. This was the best experience shopping for skis that I have had. I recommend Helm of Sun Valley without reservation.

Little context. I'm an avid disc golfer and this store has a great selection of discs. I also like to support small businesses, so I've come to this store many times to buy discs in the past, even though I could easily have found what they have online for cheaper. They keep their discs upstairs in a loft area, where adjacent to the main display area is an equally large room with many discs I've never seen displayed in the main area, especially their prodigy dics. I know this because several times I've found discs back there in the past that I've purchased which I love. I've gotten used to checking this area to find some gems and went today to do the same, just browsing. So I do this and one the owners or managers starts barking at me in an extremely condescending tone about it being off limits to customers and it being back stock for their main display. I basically knew that's what this area was, but had done this so many times in the past I didn't think they really cared. In any case, I immediately apologized and he kept being a jerk about it, essentially implying I should have known better. Whatever, I get it, but the part that really irked me, was the guy's tone... He was talking to me like I was a piece of garbage, not a valued customer who made an honest mistake. Little do they know, I'm in the market for some of their higher ticket items and would have happily considered shopping there for them prior to this encounter, now, from one simple interaction that could have been handled in a more cordial way they've lost that shot. It may seem minor (it is), but I want to shop at a place where I feel welcome, not like some criminal for a minor infraction of store etiquette. If that's your default mode in how you treat customers, no thanks.

I was shopping for ski helmet Asian fit and David was really helpful. He's quite professional and knowledgeable about what they sell and found me the exact helmet very soon. Saved me much time and efforts!

Better off going elsewhere. Wanted snowboard boots and i already know my size from other store's fitting. First time i went they insisted on fitting you, but was booked out for the entire day. When i tried to make an appointment, they claim they didn't do appointments. The next time i went they insisted on you having snowboard socks just to try in the boots. Never had such a tedious process just to try and buy some boots. Needless to say i didn't buy the boots and decided to go elsewhere due to their poor customer service.

DO NOT COME HERE!!! I was here trying to just get a size in snowboard boots and i asked the owner if he can quickly go back and get me a size. He then went on to yell at my mom and I telling us to get out of the store, worst store i’ve ever been to in my life. never coming back
