I think I've always had a pleasant experience here but tonight was especially something I'll be grateful for. I dropped my wallet somewhere in the parking lot and the employees here found it, handed it to the manager, and returned it to me. I'm so grateful for the team that helped me out tonight. THANK YOU!!!!

I occasionally go there and always have a pleasant visit. No complaints. I know the people traffic is light. Hope don't close

This store is small, stinky and has poor customer service as most of the other reviews have noted. They also don't have paper grocery bags?! Weird. A super annoyed and unfriendly bunch of staff, avoid this and go to Trader Joe's up the road instead!

I've been in this store many times and have never had a problem. Even had a nice conversation with the Starbucks barista one time. Because of that, I'll give two stars which got averaged off after what happened today. I was really caught off guard. The clerk at the self-checkout must have too much time on his hands. I don't know how he was trained. He came over to me and said that I didn't put all the brussel sprouts on the scale. He cancelled the item and re-weighed them. I felt accused. I thought he was there for customer service, not to catch someone getting away without paying for two brussel sprouts that weren't on the scale. BTW, the brussel sprouts weighed 2.2 lbs, both times.

Safeway on 6150 Bollinger Rd San Jose , California 95129 Acknowledgment to Employees: !!! I sprained my knee and when was in the store, a worker named Chance helped me get an electric motor chair, and when I ran into some plastic coffee cups, he was there to help put the cups back onto the shelf... very helpful and very nice.... Linda, cashier was very nice , Jun helped me to my car and took back the motor chair, Dave the manager was very nice too... It will be a few months before I get well, I will be shopping here instead of Cosco. Thank you so much for making my day Best wishes, Erwin

This is the first bad experience I've encountered with Safeway bakeries. Been buying for years. First of all, it seems there was a bit of racial profiling. Secondly, the cake we ordered was for a baptism, whipped cream frosting with pink rose and pink trim. This is what we got. A birthday cake with child's handwriting, green rose and trim with a cross and the word blessed. The frosting was bland and the cake was ok. The other photo indicates the order placed. Obviously, not what we paid for. Highly dissatisfied.

On both apple maps and google maps, it says they are supposed to close at 2 am. Whenever I go there around 12-1 am, they are closed already. Really annoying. They sometimes let me in, as they are doing me a favor. They should either update their business hours on the apps or obey the current one on the apps. Other than that, there is no problem with the place. Clean and well organized.

I eat at Safeway deli's often but I went to this location on 2/8 at 10:30am and ordered a breakfast burrito. The girls who made it barely put anything in my burrito and it was cold and somewhat frozen in some parts of the sausage. I can tell he didn't care at all helping me. I won't be coming to this location anymore

The food is not clean, price is high. Don't buy anything! Big noise at night. All my neighbors can't sleep. They didn't concern the feelings of their closest customers!

Today I went there at the crack of dawn to get coffee supplies. Why not? I'm up. They're open and they're a very short drive from my house and their products are acceptable quality for my coffee. And this is the second time I could not get any help at all in checking out. It takes me 3 minutes from putting on my jacket to walking in their door, another minute or so to fetch the half and half and then 5 minutes of waiting at the one lit register later I finally abandoned my stuff at the counter. It's galling. I drove to another Safeway this time but frankly, no, I'll just get half and half somewhere else in the future. I'd shrug it off if it were the only time. It is not. If you can't staff a cash register, you shouldn't open your doors. I don't need stores to disingenuously tell me they're open.

Unfortunate and sad to say that this Safeway that I'd grown up going to needs to hire and train their staff better (perspective coming from an HR professional). During recent visits we have made to grocery shop for my parents (due to covid), we encountered unhelpful staff when we had questions about products listed on the Safeway app and terrible service during checkout. One staff member, perhaps still being trained (regardless, apparently not the best fit for customer service roles), was extremely unfriendly, impatient, and rude as she tried to check us out. She went as far as to curse under her breath and complain extensively about monopoly tickets we gave her, not knowing new app scanning guidelines (Rivermark/Hamilton Safeway staff were helpful and had no complaints about scanning tickets for us). Upon my feeling bad and trying to assist her, she ignored me and continued with the same negative behavior and attitude. When she asked another staff/manager for help, there were no apologies from anyone except from me. IMHO, they should've apologized for the inconvenience and worked together to help us instead of blaming us for not knowing new covid guidelines for the monopoly game (which TBH, I do not ever want to play again due to this encounter). Also from the looks of it, the in-store ticket scanning process really needs to be streamlined and/or the staff need to be better trained on the process, as the girl that helped us made it seem like she had to match every ticket to each item during scanning vs just scan all the tickets at once and letting the system do its job. Anyway, thoroughly unhappy and mortified, we ended up having to put all our groceries back into our cart, as there was a line developing behind us (only one checkout stand open on a busy weekend/time of day!), then scan the tickets, and decided to just use self-checkout to avoid another round of such terrible customer service (huge hassle with amount of items we had, not extreme amount, but enough to be a feat when having to put every item on the weighing platform); we actually considered even putting all our groceries back and going to another Safeway or Sprouts or Trader Joe's for much better (friendly/helpful/welcoming!) customer service... One other time, a staff and the manager (when asked for help), seemed to purposely charge us for the more expensive type of eggplant (Chinese vs Japanese; ~$10 for 2 eggplants!), as they apparently/clearly did not seem to know which type it was. The eggplants were also not properly labeled in the produce section (no sign/label), nor easily discernible in the checkout system, as we all looked at the photos in the system and tried to figure out the type. IMHO, and from experience at other stores, if they couldn't figure out the type, they should've gone with the cheaper one, to provide a positive customer service experience, and then improve their store's systems and processes so the same problem doesn't occur again. We try to avoid this Safeway now. Hopefully Safeway HQ will revamp their hiring/onboarding/training/etc processes and systems so things will improve. I'd love to move back to the area one day and be able to visit this Safeway without anymore bad experiences!

A good store with good offerings and friendly staff that also appears to have no problem with you bringing in your bike into the store which is very useful when you come shopping by bicycle.

Worst behavior by customer service manager, calling us idiot. It was embarrassing to argue in front of kids but she can't stop me from sharing my views online. One says $10 can not be returned and other says $20 anf then they call customer idiot for calling that out.. God gave this team some sense and humanity

I like this place as it used to be open 24 hours.. of course it gets short hours now due to covid (still open to 11pm). It's very clean place and lines are never too long and cashiers are pretty nice people

This Safeway is poorly run with poor customer service. The self check out doesn't always key in the correct price for the discount. It took over 5 minutes with two different employees trying to find the manager Michael. I will continue to go to Safeway for my groceries but stay away from this location.
