I had to fast for a blood test at Kaiser and I'm starving, I decide to go to Safeway for a sandwich. A bad decision. I'm standing there what seems forever and no one comes up to the sandwich section, I see a lady way in the back as I walk towards her I see a man walk out I say ,excuse me can someone please help me with the sandwich's? - he answers very gruffly with super unfriendly vibes " some one will be there" I say thanks, and go back , eventually like what seemed an eternity a woman ambles on over and made my sandwich. Sadly, the sandwich tasted really bad I had to toss it. she had absolutely no love or care going into making my sandwich all The employees just seem to not want to work, so unhappy and unfriendly. I hope that they find their happiness one day.

I've been buying the sushi here for years. It's absoluty amazing for the price. But can you guys PLEASE start adding more Wasabi to the trays???? What happened??? They went from like 1/2 tablespoon of Wasabi to like 1/4th table spoon. It's so sad for the amount of sushi your eating in the tray. Not to mention They dont even give you soy sauce. I always have to have my own at home. CAN WE FIX THIS PLEASE??? MANAGEMENT HELLO????

Had a cashier I believe his name was J'Amal, but instead of scanning my organic vegetables (jalapeños and bell peppers) through the bags or entering the numbers, like they're trained to do (former Safeway employee), he ripped the bags opened to scan the stickers directly, he did NOT return my organic vegetables to the bags, instead just pushed them down the conveyer rolling along with the bag and other groceries to the cashier, he did this all while looking at me in the eyes while I stood there honestly in shock. As a former Safeway employee I've literally never seen or even heard of such laziness or disrespect, not to mention how unsanitary and unsafe these uncleaned public surfaces can be (they MAYBE will get wiped once a shift). Also, there was a clear difference of the quality of service between me, and the elderly man that was before me, whom the cashier was very friendly to. Barely said a word to the guy, but I have to say I've never felt more unwelcome at a store. Ellen on the other hand was my courtesy clerk, and she was very helpful and an overall delight!!

I worked here in the Spring of 2020 & I was fired for having OCD. Here's the full story, you be the judge, I guess: At every job I've ever had, I always give my 110%. I constantly go the extra mile, I always show up on time, I show up on my days off when someone else calls in sick & they ask me "can you come in today?" & overall, I'm very eager to please. Ask absolutelyany employer I've ever had, they'll tell you that. I applied to this Safeway's meat department. During my first month, I was occasionally told by my coworkers that I was doing a terrific job. How I wish one of them had told this to the managers, but what happened next was not really THEIR fault. Around the first month of my employment here, one of my fellow employees ( I think it was the new guy, but whatever) told the manager that I was "pacing around all day." Due to my OCD, I have no choice but to step on every crack in my path on the floor. If I could stop, I would, but I have OCD, so I can't. One of the managers approached me one day & told me that he had recieved word that I was "just pacing around all day" and that this was automatically the same as "not working" (Even though I was getting a tremendous amount of work done & clearly trying my best at every possible turn.) I explained to this manager that asking a person with OCD to force themselves NOT to do OCD things, such as stepping on the cracks in my path, is like asking a person with schizophrenia to choose not to hear voices in their heads anymore. It's not something I can control & asking me to control this behavior isn't actually something I can do. What this manager SHOULD have done was allow me to continue the amazing work I was doing. That's not what happened. I was instead told that if I couldn't stop "pacing around all day" then I would be punished by being transferred to another department within a few weeks. Have you ever seen that movie "Joker" starring Joaquin Phoenix? At one point, he says something like "The worst part about having a mental illness is that everyone expects you to behave as if you DON'T have a mental illness." or something like that. That's exactly what this manager's mentality was. He was trying to force me to act "Normal" by his standards. Needless to say, I couldn't stop pacing & stepping on the cracks BECAUSE THAT'S NOT A THING I CAN DO... so I was transferred to the department that "washed the carts" - this was during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic & during this era, Safeway had their employees hand clean every individual cart that came in. Management declared that my OCD was actually due to laziness & low effort. The cart washing area wasn't a good fit for me & a very real part of that was because of my OCD too. I would always wash the carts with overly-meticulous detail & as a result of this fact, I wasn't a very fast cart washer. At any given moment, there were many dozens of carts that needed to be washed & only maybe 3 that were ready for customers to actually use. Sometimes, there wasn't even one. I was so bad at keeping up with the high demand of carts that customers needed. I begged management to send me back to the meat department, but they didn't budge. I was told repeatedly that if I worked hard enough, I would be sent back to the meat department. I worked at this Safeway for a total of 3 months, two of which were spent washing carts. On my final day of work, when I had JUST clocked in, I was called over that loudspeaker they have there & told to come to the office. I was told that I was being fired, and that they would give me my final check now. I asked why they were doing this & was told "Welp, we did an employee evaluation & you're just the worst employee here." I told them that I always tried my best & that they were ungrateful & were, in fact, losing a terrific employee no matte

Personnel not very helpful asked about things they said search on aisle, so so didn't say want to check and see if they had it in stock. Just go search for it yourself not coming back.

Wow, just wow I was in the express lane. 15 items or less. I said my basket down on the counter for check out which I didn't know is not appropriate to do or I wouldn't have done it and the cashier takes my basket, dump it out that everything out of the basket, including some of the items on the floor. I've never been so embarrassed and upset in my life, I guess this is how Safeway treats customers

Great! It was a great selection, their prices were reasonable. I've been shopping at discount stores for so long I just figured they would be really expensive.. and it was a nice surprise!?

Safeway should stop fake pricing. The NY steaks listed as 12.99 per pound, and with club card it is 7.99 per pound. Bones and 1/2 inch of fat still attached (untrimmed). Costco has the NY steaks fully trimmed, no bones or fat for 9.99 per pound. Regular non-club price is not realistic. Saw dust is still all over the steaks. After you throw out the bones and fat, even club price is high.

I shop here a lot, and have never had any issue. In fact today, I had such a great experience I decided I wanted to leave a review. These 5 stars go out to Stephanie in the flower department. I was dropping off some flowers to my friend at Kaiser, and her favorite color is purple. The only purple flowers they had in a (necessary) small jar were kinda dying, but that was all they had and I was late to work. I was just asking if she could change the water for me, and instead she remade the whole bouquet for me. It looks even more amazing than before! She's great with flowers and customer service!

A few times I have noticed "customers" walk out without paying for their groceries. Don't think anything is being done about it and the more it happens, the more are encouraged to do so until it turns into a place that is not safe for shoppers.

This Safeway doesn’t employ enough people, so there’s not someone to collect carts from the parking lot. As a result, there are frequently no shopping carts or baskets available and carts are all over the parking lot, blocking spaces.

From the last time I left a review there was no improvement so I stopped using their drive up and go all together and shop my self and good thing I did because one of the males he was Caucasian was casually picking his nose as he's walking down the isle pushing his big cart.. that's so gross and it's not like he had a hand sanitizer near by to clean his fingers no!! He just casually wipes it on his shirt and move on..all that occurred as I was walking pass by him with other shoppers in the isle I was so speechless I looked around and saw the same reaction with the rest of the customers in that isle..that's so ridiculous and unsanitary especially when he's picking peoples produce and groceries. I believe the young man's name was "THOMAS" or at least that's what it says on his name tag I don't even truly know if that's his name but that is so disgusting, picking your nose in front of customers without a care in the world like it's normal to do like us paying customers want to receive booger'ed up produce and groceries.. like I said their drive up and go used to be so awesome but it's just gone down. Good luck getting your orders done on time while having all the items you ordered and I guess just pray to god the person picking your groceries didn't shove his fingers up his nostrils while he was picking your items. DISGUSTING DO BETTER!! At least tell your employees to not pick their noses in front of customers, if he's doing that while he's shopping for customers then he's definitely also doing that when he puts our groceries in our vehicles. That's so unsanitary it makes me wanna throw up!!!!

Go early for $5 Friday if you want to get your items. Sometimes they run out of the special items, and they won't put anymore out on the floor until the next business day. The store is very nice, but they often don't have the promo/new items listed on the Just4U app. Cell phone service is horrible/non-existent, so your only option for internet is the store's free wifi. The parking lot is scary, and people drive carelessly. The Starbucks inside is good, but it is sometimes a bit slow.

This store can learn a thing or two about customer service. No one is ever available to serve you at the deli & when someone finally shows up they're not happy about it. No smiles, no courtesies, no professionalism, & no gratitude for having a job. This is consistent with every visit. Nob Hill on Santa Teresa, on the other hand, consistently has bright, cheerful, personable & caring employees, not only ready to serve you at the deli (without waiting) but throughout the store including their long-term cashiers. I go to Safeway because it's closer to home but Nob Hill has it all over Safeway when it comes to customer service. It's obvious Nob Hill has put their staff through customer service training while Safeway has not. To be fair, Safeway's bakery far exceeds Nob Hill's (but Safeway's bakery employees are consistently grumpy).

It's one of the biggest Safeway in the area. Very organized and clean. Just one issue which happens to lot of the grocery stores recently - can't find any shopping carts at the store sometimes. Either had to wait at the door or "stalk" someone and grab the cart after they loaded their groceries which is quite annoying. This shopping center has plenty of parking and very convenient since there are all kinds of restaurants like MOD Pizza, Wings Stop etc. and Target, Ulta, Marshalls & more are within walking distance.
