How is it even possible that I have failed to write a review for this place until now? This is the BEST. STORE. EVER. The manager/owner is amazing, the operation is smooth, and the stock is fantastic. To be clear, yes, this store does sell military surplus items. But it is so much more than that. They sell all kinds of work clothes, boots, sweats, shoes, jackets - tightly packed aisles filled with all kinds of things that any blue-color or labor-oriented worker would need, and at really good prices too. The store is worth visiting just for that! That section takes up the main part of the main room - but then there's a kind of "second area" off of one side, almost as large, and just as packed with items. Here you'll find military-style bags, backpacks, BDU style pants, shirts, and field coats, along with raincoats, parkas, and every other kind of clothing you could imagine. They've got military style bedding, blankets, ropes, and related equipment. Then they've got "normal" backpacks, a large selection of camping gear, and assortment of always fresh MREs from different suppliers, camping food and - on one end-cap, a VERY nice selection of cast iron cookware! Here's a sample of how the manager rolls:Me, coming in, recognizing him: Hello! Nice to see you!Him, remembering me: How have you been! How is your kid? (remembered my kid, and that they were at college). Hey, we just got a new shipment of field coats in from several countries! (remembered that my addictive purchase there is M65-style field coats).Me: Thank you!Me, later, coming out with a huge armload that I could barely carry: "Sorry, just came to pick up one or two things."Him, with a grin and without missing a beat, "Well then you need to buy some more!"That says a lot! When you stop to think about it, working in the customer service industry is never easy. You have to deal with all kinds of cranky, confused, problematic people. I see people like that in the store sometimes. Yet the staff is always patient, always kind, and always super-helpful. They are clearly like a family there, and you feel that welcoming feeling when you walk in.... when you're not being overwhelmed by the huge variety of products. Here's a tip: Some things, especially around Halloween, are not returnable. Don't think you're going to go in there, and "rent" yourself a costume and then return it. That's not a right thing to do in any event, and you shouldn't expect it of anyone. If you're buying something, try it on there BEFORE you buy it - they've got fitting rooms - and if you're not sure, ask about the return policy for that particular item. It will save everyone stress later. This is literally my favorite retail store of all time. I am in there from time to time and I always spend far too much money there. But the quality, the selection, and the prices are all excellent, beaten only by the customer service, and, really, what more can you ask?I encourage everyone with interest to visit this store. You will absolutely love it!

Lots of camping as well as outdoor equipment and clothing. Prices are reasonable. I prefer this type of hope over big chain stores. You be the judge when you visit. I like it.

Great selection of work/outdoor gear. From boots to tarps and backpacks, they have a lot to offer. The store looks small on the outside, but once inside, it opens up into a vast selection of merchandise.

Got all the big brands, like 5.11, CAT, Dickies, etc, but beyond that it has a staggering collection of high quality surplus. ACU shirts, pants, all uniforms up to current, various harnesses, bags, pouches, kits, belts, even a dozen or so plate carriers. Can't go wrong with this store. Can only recommend!

Work on your customer service, first of all. That would make everything better! I went in to buy new work boots. I have bought all of my work boots from here; I am in construction and generally I buy a new pair every year if not sooner. My last pair wore out really fast so I decided to go get some new ones. I had an idea of what I wanted. When I first walked in I went straight to the boots and immediately a man asked if I need help. I said yes, I'm looking for more hiking boot style work boots rather than the typical cream sole that wears out quickly. I said I was a 7-7.5 in *men's* and wore *men's* boots but he directed me to the women's work boots. I don't wear those bc my feet are too wide and I had already said men's boots. I told the guy my Irish Setters wore out really quickly and I guess that was a good reason to tell me they had Irish Setters?? No thank you, I'm not impressed with my previous pair. I went back to the men's boots and grabbed a couple different boxes- immediately a lady appeared and asked if she could hold them up front for me. I said no thank you, I'd like to try them on. I tried on a few pair and as I'm walking around getting a feel for them, she asks AGAIN if I need help. No, I don't! I'm not going to steal them, sheesh. Then the first guy comes around the corner asking again if I need help... no. If you want people shopping here, maybe don't be so abrasive. The older gentleman who usually works in the boot section was not there- he is a gem! He's always the most helpful. He gets all the stars. Also, I don't get the store policy of not taking returns. You mean to tell me you don't want to guarantee $200 boots? That seems absurd to me. What if they're genuinely uncomfortable? I'm not sure I'll come back, even though I've been a loyal customer for almost 6 years. It's been going downhill but this was the nail in the coffin. Sucks because they're one of very few places that carry my favorite women's work pants!

Surly service with a sneer! This place hasn't changed for decades. In the area of actual surplus it's like they got a shipment of stuff long ago and have been going off of that ever since. They sell a lot of work clothes like Carhartt and such, boots, etc. If you just got a job and the bossman says you have to show up with boots or a safety vest tomorrow at 6AM, this place has some of these things, overpriced and of limited selection but they do have them and they are open later than most places.Except for some very narrow cases, you're better off going to a uniform store, camping store, work shoe/boot store, online, etc.Staff are ... not friendly. They've probably had to deal with a lot of guff over the years (it's not exactly a ritzy neighborhood) but there's also that to consider. It is what it is, I guess.

Overall I'm between a three and four star but the service is so good have to drop a 4 star rating. The reason is that as a surplus store , not a big selection of actual surplus items , maybe 30% surplus and 70% new manufactured items. However , I usually find what I need as long as I'm not looking for all surplus gear. They also have half the store for clothing and related. Seems a great place to go if you need fair priced work boots. So overall , give it a check and see , if new camping or survival gear is your thing for the area this is the only place around. Store is well organized and I do appreciate the excellent service

My family and I have been going to this place for as long as I can remember and today we sadly had such an incredibly disrespectful situation happen to us.My mom had gone in to return some shoes which she had tried to do days before but she was told to go in again with the card used for purchase, she did as she was asked and today when she went in she was attended by this woman at the front and from the start she was telling my mom she couldn’t do the exchange this and that and my mom was politely letting them know she was doing as asked by the manager days before, which is when my brother was called and he tried talking on the phone with them which they denied talking to him, and which is when they continued to laugh in my mom’s face because of something that wasn’t her fault and something that was out of her control. We found this incredibly disrespectful especially just because we have been going here for years and they decided to laugh in my moms face for something to do with THEIR store policy and something that was very much not the clients fault.

I came here to look for boots to wear for the reserves and another for my normal 5 to 9 job. Ive bought boots from here few years ago...i figured id come back again.... I asked the guy in the back for help. to see if they have my size in the back. Instead of asking what size I was. He said that this store can't help me becuase this is a predominantly a man's store.

Something that drives me nuts is when employees don't leave you alone or follow you around. This place doesn't have much parking, about 2 spots and outside is kind of trashed. I walked in and was just browsing. They have pictures on their door of shoplifters to show they have cameras. I side yes they have a ton of cameras, but apparently that isn't good enough. The employees will follow you around. I walked in one isle and one employee asks what Im looking for, I said Im just browsing. Im military so I wanted to look at the military items, MRE's and see if they had women's carharrt jackets. They have mens stuff, didn't see women's. I was texting on my phone and another employee popped out of nowhere, I jumped, I just gave them a dirty look, he just stood there. I found the MRE's and squtted to look at the kinds. Next thing I know.... I see with peripheral vision someone standing 5 feet from me. I looked to my my right and I look up... Yet another employee standing there watching me awkwardly looking through the MRE's. I got up and walked away. I ended up getting some paracord which were $11 for 100 feet, which is similar cost to Amazon. I figured maybe they'll have military discount since it's a surplus but they don't have military discount. So I won't be back because it really irked me that employees would follow customers around and literally just stand there. I mean... You have 1 million cameras if someone's going to steal you have them on camera. Nor do I look suspicious or anything of the sort.
