I opened a new account, took out cash, then they froze my account and wouldn't give me any money until I proved how I got the money and why I wanted cash.After giving them many personal documents, they unfroze my account but refused to give me cash. It was way way under $10,000 where the IRS gets involved but still treated like a money laundering terrorist. So I closed my account and went somewhere else and received cash.It was a very invasive experience. ☹️

I have been a member of techcu since 2010. Their service has uniformly been a cut above other banks and credit unions. But I have waited until today (Nov 2023) to share my review: Majdi Mardini at the Campbell branch was superb! He helped us with Trust, Escrow and new ATM card all at the same time with calm professionalism. Great job MaJdi.

I have been a customer of Tech CU for many many years. I have moved out of the Bay Area but have kept my relationship with Tech CU. I had the occasion to stop by the Bascom Avenue branch yesterday. As always, their customer service was beyond compare. Nicole helped us accomplish everything we came in for and much more. We had some questions on different account types and she provided us the information and sent us on our way with documents providing the information as well. She was friendly, attentive and courteous. I have remained a loyal customer for so long because of the customer service Tech CU provides, as well as an easy to use App, ATMs, etc. One person in particular needs to be called out and that is Bob Tran. He has always supported our needs and gone out of his way to make sure our account is serviced at the highest level. Thank you to Bob and thank you to Nicole for yesterday.

Have a vehicle loan with Tech CU. Constantly having issues with them related to insurance. I have provided all the specified insurance information multiple times and yet I get notifications that it is not verified and threats to hit me with their own insurance costs. This feels like an intentional scam.

Edit 07/15/2023: I am happy to say they have FINALLY removed the arms from one chair and staff is more friendly. I am happy to be treated like a person who matters once more. I considered raising the review another star for these small but important changes, but the rest of my review still stands, and now I've been told they've discontinued their free life insurance program. As a person with a limited income, I've depended on this as a "just in case," since I am unable to buy insurance. What a disappointment. I am still overall satisfied with my membership for the other benefits credit unions are known for, but those benefits have been dwindling and I feel like this is becoming more like a bank than a credit union. To the folks working there, and the voting members, please don't allow TechCU to become like just another bank. We have enough of them as it is, and when basically 5 banks drive the economy, then being like them is bad news. Please bring back the friendly, welcoming feeling of just walking in the door (you really need to remodel our branch location). Please consider opening another branch near central or northern Fremont or Newark. Please bring back some of those special benefits that set you heads above the banks (instead of mere inches). I know our economy has been struggling, but would a few changes set you back that far? One thing you might consider is adding small loan options for people with limited incomes (such as a minimum of $500 or even $1,000, instead of $2,500), or offering prepaid credit cards for those of us working so hard to repair our credit (it is totally secured since we're putting up our own money on it so I can't imagine this costing you much - if anything). Thanks! Keep working on getting me to raise my stars for you! I'm totally open to it!
