If I could place a minus 10 star- I would! Rented from GotRentalCars.com/Thrifty. Paid $147.00. Arrived San Jose-car was not ready-given a complimentary upgrade. Authorized bridge insurance-$25 per day x5 days. $125 High-but I did authorize this-not the price of course-I wasn't told what the price was-guess I should have asked. PREMIUM Roadside assistance?? Another $49.95. I didn't authorize that but I guess it's in their contract-which I was reminded of several times when I called Thrifty to dispute these hidden charges. Pretty smooth move! Authorized pre-paid gas and was TOLD I would be charged for the replaced gas. Was charged $76.00 for gas-I returned the car EARLY 11/5 at 7:00 pm-with 3/4 of a tank of gas-after I was told they would charge for the replacement fuel only-that's OUTRAGEOUS! Why would ANYONE pre-pay a full tank? I expected the refill to be high but I think it was around $5.52 p/gallon-I didn't expect to pay for an entire tank of gas on a Toyota Camry. And $118.20 for something I didn't even understand!!! All said, this rental of a car for 4 days (11/1-11/5) was $516.15. Notice that I'm charged for 5 days when I actually returned the car on 11/5-4 days. General Public-Read this!! I've rented cars for 30 years from every car rental agency all over the country and I've never EVER experienced such obvious money grab! I've rented from Thrifty before-Outrageous business practice! Never, ever again.

I dropped off the car on time and 20 minutes later I got a charge on my card for an extra day. Now I'm dealing with that and the costumer service is really bad.

The lady lied to me saying that I needed to buy their insurance coverage when I already told them I am covered through Progressive. I know, buyer beware, so I will do my part in making my co-workers aware to avoid this location.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!!1. I reserved a compact car when I landed in San Jose and after waiting 30 mins in line, I approached the counter and was told by the lady that they dont have my compact car. But, she offered me an upgrade to a mid-size for $15 more. In the past, when my car was not available, I was GIVEN an upgrade but didnt have to pay more $$! The lady told me I can either take it or wait an hr or so until a compact becomes available or is returned. SMH...it was late so had to take the upgrade with the addt'l $15 per day charge. 2. Huge screw found in the front passenger tire while doing the auto check for dents or scratches. No agent around the parking lot so had to take the car. Lot of anxiety driving the car that night and next day expecting a blow out while driving. 3. BEST FOR LAST: I had an emergency the next morning which resulted in me having to drive to Oakland. I decided since I was out there, and not drive back to San Jose, to leave the car at the Oakland rental center. When chatting with Courtney online and telling her the situation, she told me it would cost $329 one way drop off charge. I expected a charge for one way, but $329!!!NO sympathy about my emergency, or lesser charge. Basically, that is the penalty, shall I make the change on your itinerary? No choice, had to take it.**I always stay at the Fairfield Inn Marriott in San Jose and when I told them about my emergency, they were gracious enough to credit me 1 night stay and wished me the best and hope all goes well. Now that's CLASS!!YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED PEOPLE....STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. RENT WITH A MORE EXPENSIVE COMPANY, PAY A LITTLE EXTRA AND SPARE THE ANXIETY AND LOUSY SERVICE.

Nice guy at the counter but if I'd taken a ride share I'd already be at my destination vs a hour in and sitting in traffic to get out of the garage.Unless you have no time table, avoid Thrifty, Dollar or Hertz.

Rented a car from this place, filled it up with a full tank of gas, returned the car. We got our receipt emailed to us and they added a bunch of different charges that made no sense! We called and someone said they would contact us and we have yet to have this fixed!

Filled the vehicle fuel tank immediately before returning and they tried to claim the tank was only 3/8 full and added a charge of $74 to the bill. I drove the vehicle a total of 79 miles.Hard to believe it was an innocent mistake. This feels like systemic fraud.Good thing I have my fuel receipt. Watch out if you decide to rent here. Take pictures of everything.

Absolutely not! I lost my phone in one of the vehicles and was already on my flight back to return home. When attempting to call there is no direct number to the front desk. I was connected with the customer care and was told to file a claim online. After completing the claim I waited the recommended time and followed up with a call. I couldn't connect so I went to Twitter. Got a response finally we were getting somewhere. They literally could have just called the location and checked to look for my phone in the vehicle but they took long and my phone disappeared off my map after a day. I knew it was I. The car because find my android showed me the location. They offer great rates but honestly there is a reason why. Most of thrifty is managed by hertz counters.

Reserved a car and was told there were no cars available. It didn't quite register so I said "but I reserved a car..." and was told they won't have a car for a 1-2 hours and it's pretty much how it is at any car rental at this time. Was offered an SUV if I paid more. Decided to cancel my reservation and just borrow my parent's car for the day. What a waste of time and money (ubering to the airport and back)

Its like going back in time to slow computers, long and illogical credit card machines, and protocols that make you go through iterations of running your card. After 15m of what is usually a 1m experience when booking online, I was locked in the garage with no-one in sight.

Since I am not able to not put a star, I had to put one-star. In reality, they do not deserve a star because they cheat their renters big time. From the time you pick up, they already confuse you with all kinds of charges and charge you items they are not suppose to. They would make it seem they did something to help you but they hit you in other ways. I would never go back to this place. They

Horrible place, car is defective, engine overheated and smoke can out. A serpentine belt came off. When I asked them about compensation, they asked in a sarcastic tone "what do you want me to do????" As such, they won't give any refunds besides closing out the bill early.

This is the utmost worst experience I have ever had with a rental company. I was offered a fuel service option at the counter where I can return the car without a full tank and I would only be charged for how much I drove. They ended up charging me with a price for all the fuel left in that tank, which I did not even use, costing me 60 dollars. Absolutely horrible, and the customer service is nonexistent. Please do not use this horrible company
