Food is pretty good and prices reasonable. We are visiting the area and wanted Mexican food. They have hot food with an extensive menu, and you can see all the choices. They also have fresh fruit beverages, sodas, and fresh squeezed juice. We ordered carrot juice and orange juice, and they were both excellent. There is a bakery too, but we didn't try the baked goods.

Hi I got surprised this time I ordered a chicken burrito maybe they forgot to clean the chicken, lot of chicken skin very disappointed. Also I ordered a Beef stew(caldo de res)...I only had a few vegetabinles, no corn on the cob and like 4/5 oz of meat... You got it be careful the inconsistencies hurts so much on business wise...Not so happy at all. Thank you.

Have you ever been eating some fire tacos then all of a sudden want something sweet? El Campeon is the place for you! I have been going to El Campeón ever since I was a young child. El Campeón is a Mexican cuisine restaurant with a bakery inside. El Campeon was a restaurant that was established in the late 90's. It is a family owned restaurant located in San Juan Capistrano (31921 Camino Capistrano #15, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675). It first started off by a Mexican Lady who had come to America and wanted to open up a restaurant that would bring the community closer. When you enter the restaurant you see beautiful colorful spanish style walls, while seeing that you get the amazing smell and view of the food being cooked. Due to the amazing food being cooked the restaurant brings out the hispanic community to go eat there which always makes it super crowded with the end of the line always being outside the doors and really long. I mean really... really... long. I personally think El Campeón is one of the best food places in all of Orange County. At El Campeón they sell food under the mexican cuisine category- Tacos, Tortas, and Aguas Frescas. The reason El Campeón is such a good food spot is because of its authentic homemade food they sell. Whenever I am eating the amazing food there it always makes me feel like I am in Mexico eating my grandma's food. I think this restaurant is so different from others because of how they have a bakery filled with sweet treats for those of you who have a sweet tooth. As soon as you walk into the restaurant you will automatically get that sweet and wonderful smell of fresh bread coming out of the bakery. After having some of their amazing food you can head over to the bakery and get some sweets. The food is so special because it is authentic and not frozen. When I go there to eat I get the Tacos, Pan dulce, and Agua Frescas. Their tacos are so flavorful with a beautiful color of salsa, and cilantro and onions. The amazon smell of those tacos will make you drool.Pan Dulce: filled with sweetness and colors and smells amazingly when coming out of the oven. When you bite into them you feel the taste of happiness from all the sugar entering your taste pallets. Their Agua Frescas are amazing refreshment with amazing tasting and really good color to it. This restaurant is one of the best places to go to get authentic food because of the history behind it and how homemade it is. The best things to eat there are the beautiful rich smelling tacos, the wonderful sweet and doughy Pan Dulce, and the colorful, refreshing and fruity Aguas Frescas. If you are looking for some amazing tacos then after wanting to go get a sweet snack El Campeón is the place for you.

I had been there prior to covid however this time I noticed the folks there don't speak English, I usually get the lengua street tacos however thought this time I'll try the burritos, bad idea. There was so much rice inside and I wished they would give a little more meat. I got it to go and they gave me 2 tiny little containers of salsa. I asked for an extra green salsa and they charged me $0.25 each little container . I think now they're just gouging their customers.

Got 8 pounds of the marinated chicken at their market. The employee was helpful and the chicken was very tasty. I have only had a small portion, but so far the only downside was we ordered boneless and there was a small bone in mine. Regardless, we will be returning for the great taste and price and just be more vigilant.

Hands down amazing!!! Cafeteria style ordering. Staff is friendly and efficient. Anything you order is phenomenal. We had all the tacos and the mole is our favorite. Fresh and very authentic. Watch out for the salsas, they can be spicy (but it's oh so good).

El Campeon is truly a hidden gem in San Juan Cap. Its in a very unassuming strip mall and is attached to a mexican bread shop. There are around 5-6 tables outside or standing room inside. You first order at the counter and tell them what you want. They give you a number and when your order is ready, you pay for it. I ended up going with the Expulsion which is beef steak ranchero style. It cames with juicy marinated pieces of steak, beans, rice, salad, and tortillas. The steak is very moist and comes apart easily. Its marinated in some type of tomato sauce. You put it all together in the tortilla and get an explosion of flavor in your mouth. I also ordered a lengua taco and cabeza taco to share. They both offer a generous portion of meats with cilantro and onions. Both great and flavorful. The reason this place didnt get 5 stars is because I also ordered the chicken burrito. The burrito was a very good size for the price, but honestly it was almost inedible. The chicken was dry and flavorless. I had to use as much salsa as possible so it wouldnt try out in my mouth. I had to wash it down with my juice. Despite being disappointed, everything else is so good that I would definitely come back.

Hmmmm where do i start? I honestly feel like pretty cliche "if i could give this place zero stars i would" This place is gross man, inside its really dirty and the tables are dirty no one cleans them. The food was a total fail, how can you mess up mexican food this bad? The taquitos were cold and soft not even crispy the inside was meat and potatoes i guess they need to cut back on costs. The chicken tacos were dryer than the sahara desert and the pastor looked like dog meat or something And their soda machine was out of order to top it off I couldn't even wash the awful taste with anything. Their system is unorganized as well, you cant order your drinks until you get your food which is pretty dumb if you ask me. Anyways dont come hear unless you want to barf. Ill give them one more star because the pan dulce looked good but didnt try it.

The two times I've been there I've tried the carnitas tacos and cabeza. The workers and service was great and everyone was very friendly and cool. It's a very casual environment. More of a market, and you can eat at some tables outside... maybe a better place for to go orders. The cabeza tacos are very tender and fatty. I would maybe add some salsa or hot sauce that has some salt to it. The carnitas tacos.... Epic. I need to find out what makes the meat pink and gives it that amazing savory/salty flavor. All the tacos are loaded with meat, cilantro and onions. Simple but awesome. I will go back for the carnitas tacos alone. I also had the agua Fresca ... watermelon flavor and banana... super fresh... it's straight up watermelon and banana. Simple and awesome. I love this place.

I have visited this restaurant on several occasions and have tried several items on their menu that are delicious. On some occasions they have the strawberry water that sells out quickly and the tres leches cupcakes are also a quick seller. My reservations are with the carne asada that I have eaten before and on this trip the carne asada on my torta and the half pound of carne asada had more fat than meat. The mole is good along with the red or green pork that will fill you up. I will try and request less fat next time and hopefully get more meat than the inedible fat.

If you enjoy authentic Mexican food, you arrived at the right place! All the food I tried was excellent. It's like a real Mexican potluck with a big family!
