Recently used Born for a one bedroom move from a residence to 1 bedroom apartment in San Ramon. Crew did fabulous job and packaging. Happy with everything but the price. I thought Duane quoted $155 an hour when actually he said it was $355 an hour. Kind of a big misunderstanding. Ended up being $2239 to move less than 2 miles for a 1 bedroom,. was expecting about a $1000. Recommendations to others make sure you get firm quote up front.

We were give an estimate for three guys to break down,wrap and reassemble our 5 rooms of furniture. Loading and unloading was handled with care. Antique furniture was handled with extra care(just make sure to tell them).
They did a great job,thank you. Jose ,Alex and Kevin. Alittle pricy but at 62yrs, we'll worth the money.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They are not even worth 1 star.
They are the worst at packing your belongings and loading into PODS. Most of our furniture, frames, TVs, lamps, gym equipment were damaged/bent/scratched due to them not properly wrapping the items and loading into the storage containers.
They put boxes that were marked fragile on the very bottom of the stack. Our treadmill monitor, TV, Elliptical, Pelotons, reformer, rowing machine? dressers (there are too many items to list!) are scratched, bent and/or broken. We have pictures to prove this is true!
Also, there are hidden fee. Make sure you get a quote. We were quoted $185 per hour for 4 workers to help us load the PODS and when we asked for help with packing, nothing was mentioned about the price changing. Duane ended up charging us $455 PER HOUR!!! BTW, this also included their drive time from Hayward to San Jose. Why should they charge customers that much to sit in their truck to drive to/from when they are not loading and/or packing? We also threw away a lot of our food items and they spent that time at $455 per hour to go through our food to take it home with them.
They are not professional movers and I will tell everyone I know in the Bay Area to not use them and to also spread the word to all their family and friends.
It is truly frustrating and makes me angry that a company who does this for a living is still in business considering the way they handled our belongings. THIS WAS NOT WORTH THE $16,795.00!!!

Horrible, dishonest owner (Duane Fagan). Initial quote was $225/hr. Total in the end was more than double!
Although bed was taken apart prior to movers showing up, they wasted time breaking down further. Spent a lot of time wrapping items although they were told repeatedly that it was not necessary. Once items were in the truck, received a call from the owner stating the driver locked keys in the truck (more time delay). Once movers completed job, Duane showed up and started charging for truck rental, distance/time to and from San Leandro, etc. Added fees were insane! If you decide to use this company despite the similar negative complaints, make sure you have a signed estimate of ALL fees before you allow this crook to move your stuff!

My boxes were well packed and shipped from the West Coast to the East Coast and nothing broke. I'm very impressed with this moving company and I would definitely use them again

My name is Deon Stancil made an appointment for 9:30 am on September 4th Labor Day, Duane and Al showed up on time, I had been up since 4:30 am trying to finish they started moving my furniture great customer service don't worry we will take care of this after a couple of hours moving headed to my new location include elevator, secured gate again Duane and Al started unloading took the plastic off the furniture, put my televisions back together such excellent, uplifting enlighten conversation there nose were not in the air very down to earth common sense enjoyable mens, I ran over my time because of the elevator, I did not mind the extra cost and gave them a tip especially on Labor Day, thank you God for these mens and taking care of me please reach out to their company allow them to touch your heart show their passion about their customers.

I wish I'd read the reviews before hiring Duane. They are incredibly slow and charged me for "commute time." Find someone else!!

DO NOT HIRE THEM!!! I used Duane and his not-so-experienced crew a year ago moving from my condo in Oakland. I hired them to pack and load my belongings into PODs. It was a horrendous process. They underestimated everything from timing, to boxes, to how much would fit in the POD. I kept asking through the whole process if the POD was large enough, it didn't seem so to me. And at the end, I had to scramble and get another pod because they left my most valuable stuff to the end so I had to 1/2 fill one and it cost me extra to store two pods. AND THEN DUANE WILL ASK YOU FOR CASH ONLY! The move cost me THREE TIMES what I was quoted. FAST FORWARD over a year later, I'm finally unpacking my PODS and it was THE WORST packing job ever, I just found a bag of TRASH and a box of wire hangers. The crew needed so much managing that I could not monitor what was going into the storage and they kept asking me questions over and over. I had to call Duane multiple times to manage his team. I lost so much money and they treated me horribly during a very hard time. They overcharged me for boxes and furniture pads that were taped terribly. I AGREE WITH ALL THE ONE STARE REVIEWS, TOTAL SCAM! DO NOT HIRE! AT ALL!

Born Moving helped us move four office rooms, furniture, copier, and a large amount of boxes across town. Everything was meticulously packed with pads, plastic wrap and tape. All movers were friendly, followed instructions and worked hard for 14 hours with a short break for lunch. Very pleased and highly recommend.Services: Furniture assembly

Born Moving is an AWESOME moving company! They have great customer service and the owner is honest and very friendly! He made my moving day so easy, they showed up on time and worked efficiently and made sure to be careful with all my boxes and belongings. I've worked with other moving companies in the past and have never had an experience like I've had with Born Moving. The owner went above and beyond to help me. Scheduling a date was super easy and convenient too, they make the whole process so easy and stress free. To put this into perspective:Last year Born Moving packed and moved me less than a mile away with a bill of $9K. Now I'm moving out of state (650 miles away) and my bill for them disassembling, packing, moving, (including gas, insurance and their overnight stay due to the distance they are driving), unpacking and reassembly is only $4.6K. I a quote which includes all mentioned above whereas when hiring Born Moving is was all verbal. I'm writing this for others - PLEASE be aware and get anything you can think of in writing before using this company. Take note of distance between where you live and where they are coming and returning to and account for traffic should they run into it as you'll pay for that as well. I learned my lesson well (I hope) as I had just received a pension payout and it all went to them. Now I can only have wished I'd known and I would have been more selective or asked for something in writing. I just hope my pension was spent well and they enjoyed whatever they bought with it. My first review never made it to the main page so I wanted to send in this follow up. Though I'm no longer dwelling on their ways; instead I saw a request for a few payments (old requests) in my Venmo just now and it brought some bitterness back to my heart. Hopefully someone will wisely do their research before considering any company for hire.

Born Moving was a great choice in helping me move. This is the first time I actually hired out someone to help me move. As a family we usually just spent our entire weekend moving and unpacking. This time I decided to get someone to help. Born Moving was the best in helping smooth our transition from one home to the other. They were so good in fact that I recommended them to my significant other who used them to move her two months after my recommendation!! Professional! On-time! Courteous! Responsive!
