Called customer service at 9am on Sunday and asked them about the Gatorade freebie on if it was available..the person said we had Gatorade 2for 1 and there was no freebie advertised ... I told her that it was clipped in the Safeway app and could you look... she refused ... this Safeway has terrible service

The worst Safeway you have ever been! The lines are DMV-level slowwwwww. Overall weak management.

I went around 5 after not too many customers except the retired and advanced seniors, which unfortunately the store Safeway could not provide enough personnel they only have 2 employees at registers barely and everything else was self serve type (scan your own groceries, pay, pack your own food, find one of the workers to confirm your receipt, etc Sad sad sad

Produce: Almost half of the shelves in the produce section were empty. Red cabbages rotted and way past its prime to be sold. Genuinely concerned with how this location is handling and storing produce. 2 stars only because their staff is friendly.

The reviews regarding this Safeway weren't promising but I needed a few things and this was closest in an unfamiliar area. I found the security to be delightful upon greeting and the staff very helpful and ready to help with my needs. The manager was even engaging with the customers politely and seemed to know her regulars by name. I was thanked numerous times upon my exit and wished merry Christmas by 3 staff members. I would go out of my way to come here just for the pleasant experience alone. Great job!

The two stars is really only for the grocery aspect of this Safeway. Don't come here if you want their sandwiches/hot food. They open early and all day but only have 1 person actually working, with 2-3 others standing and watching the one person work. Don't you dare come in the morning, they will have you waiting for help WHILE STARING AT YOU before they will even approach you. Specifically....Anna. Just come for the groceries and keep it pushing.

Lady at the register employed by Safeway was rude to my wife with her snarky remarks. Involved herself in my personal conversation with my spouse commenting on items we purchased. Manager wasnt any help condoning her employees behavior. This Safeway needs some serious training in customer service . How about just ring up my items and mind your business.

The most convenient grocery for me - usually find most things I need. But the produce is THE WORST! Today I bought some packaged cucumbers and an avocado, and they were inedible. This year I have wasted so much money on produce that turned out to be bad or spoiled rapidly. How can they sell avocados that are totally bruised up inside or so unripe they never get edible? Their packaged produce like apples, potatoes, cucumbers often have a rotten one in there that spoils the whole bunch. It isn't this bad at other grocery stores, even other Safeways! Also, frequently (today again) lacking things like a pint Half an Half. And the fish and seafood looks horrible. And one time bread was moldy when I got it home. What's happening there?

It must be a requirement to hate your life to work here Everyone is always so rude at this location. Can't even ask a simple question without a major attitude. I politely asked an associate (he was literally just standing there at the self checkout) where I can locate a hand basket and this man literally said "somewhere" when I said okay and walked away he continued to talk crap. The whole interaction was weird but it's one of many I've had here.

I love the Safeway it’s one of the nicest safe ways I’ve been to it may be a smaller Safeway but I like that I love the friendly customer service. I love how I can do a Safeway pick up order and it’s always accurate and they’re super efficient. I’m not waiting more than five minutes. Albert customer service experience. Here is very splendid. And the atmosphere is just lovely. Go here if you want a good shopping experience

I am so pleased with the recent changes at this location. I shop at this Safeway because it is close to my home and, with a disabled spouse at home, it's very convenient when my time is limited. Over the last 28 years, I have noticed a decline in safety, witnessed a number of shoplifters who would race out the door, reported a creep who was making sexual advances at women shoppers, and there was poor maintenance inside and outside the store along with increased wait times in checkout lines. By last year I would take the time to go into Castro Valley to shop at the two Safeway stores there, as I don't like the downtown Safeway. The recent changes have improved the Bancroft store to the point I am now happy to shop there. Security personnel look professional and appear competent; the single entry and exit discourages shoplifters; the store is cleaner and better organized; and the alcohol section has been moved closer to the checkout stands where it can be easily viewed. I am especially happy with the new self-checkout stations, which enable me to spend less time shopping. Today the checkout stands were busy with customers in line, all four self-checkouts were being used, and there was even a cooking demonstration. I am glad to see this store has improved and is thriving.

The store has seen better days - decades ago tbh. Though the self-checkout has improved things somewhat, there still seems to be a lack of attentive staff.Recent renovations have left much to be desired in the way of customer service. I understand these are rough times, but you cannot have imprisoned merchandise AND unreliable staff and technology. You may save money by reduced theft, but you will also lose sales (from myself and others) because of the raggedy system of service currently in place. It's a small grocery store compared to many others in the area, brand aside, so fluidity and speed of service is paramount. Your store cannot hold both long lines AND bulk shoppers at the same time, unless you actually WANT chaos. Somebody be reasonable, please.

today around 1 pm, I decided to go into this Safeway Store for some last minute items for a dish I was planning on cooking. When I entered into the store it had a different feeling about it. It was much cleaner and organized. I found all my items I needed and proceeded to check out. I decided to use one of the four self-check out stations. Entered my items successfully and even entered my telephone number for my discount card. The changes were obvious and can only congratulate store management and staff for being successful in bringing the store back to the standards that shoppers deserve coming from the surrounding San Leandro neighborhoods and southern Oakland past 98th avenue households who will make the trek to shop at this store. I will plan to come back during the day when it is not so crowded and encourage others who gave up on the store to go back and visit it.

Left one Safeway in San Leandro due to no available parking even though it's a big lot. But it's for several businesses. Went to this next Safeway, lots of available parking. The store was stocked and I got what I was looking for. Thank you Safeway for the choices.
