The butchers at this place are freaking rude and incompetent. A few weeks ago I needed something from the cold case. Stood there for a good 5+ minutes waiting to be assisted. Called out "hello? Can I get some help please". Butcher looked at me from the back, and then kept packing. I waited a few more minutes in silence. Called out again. No reply that time so I left.
However, today 6/29/24 around 11 am, was just disrespectful. There's an Asian couple waiting to be helped at butcher cold case. I stand behind them. We wait. We wait. We wait about 8 minutes. I lean in to see if there's a butcher in back, say "hello?". There's three dudes back there. Two of which look directly at me. One wasn't even doing anything, just standing there while the other two were prepping. All trying to hide behind the station. No reply. I step back again behind the couple. A third woman gets behind me. I assume they butchers are just wrapping up something. Odd it takes three whole dudes but it's pre 4th weekend, maybe busy. A few more minutes go by. One of the guys then walks to the counter. Looks at all of us waiting there (the one who was doing nothing so far), and then turns around to go back to the group. Rude, but ok, they know we are here and still refuse to assist. A fourth person gets in line to look for something from cold case. Wait even longer. Finally a younger fourth butcher comes From over by the dairy direction. Says "sorry, those guys are really choosy about who they help". He then proceeds to assist the older couple and the woman waiting behind me. I guess they were all waiting for something to be wrapped. As he walking away I ask if he can get me a pound of shrimp, as the other 3 dudes won't even address customers, he reiterates, "these guys aren't really helpful", and thankfully he gets me the pound of shrimp. J thanked him profusely for assisting. It took over 25 minutes to get a pound of shrimp with 4 butchers on hand. I don't blame the younger guy, he was frazzled and apologetic, however the other three guys could have answered, said "please wait a few while we wrap up". 25 minutes to get a pound of shrimp is just terrible customer service. Anything to at least acknowledge people waiting for them would have helped the situation.
I tried to let customer service/manager know, but the customer service desk was "closed for the day"(sign). Explains a lot, ya know?
As I stood there, no customer was rude. No one was yelling or demanding. We were all just trying to buy groceries.
To the younger guy who got me my shrimp, thank you. I'm really sorry you were getting the brunt of everyones impatience while your team stood there letting you drown. Hopefully management reads this and recognizes you were going above and beyond while your team slacked off.

I had a kind gentleman assist me with a order that I was having delivered. His name was LALY.
His Customer is 10+++++ excellent.
I was concerned about my order. He went out of his way and told me that he would pull my order personally . I just want management to be aware this store is blessed to have such a kind and helpful young gentleman working for your store and thank you again for your help LALY. I have had horrible experiences with the American Canyon store delivering ( maybe you should go over there and train them ) we will definitely be ordering from you again.
Management please note I won a year subscription to Safeway last year during the monopoly game .
I had until Monday to decide if I was going to pay and keep it or cancel
LALY service has restored my faith that delivery orders can be delivered correctly and people do care, so I am going to keep the subscription because this young man showed me there are people that are willing to help and go the extra mile.
After all my bad experiences with American Canyon I was so shocked, surprised and my jaw dropped when he listened and cared.
Kudos to a job well done I certainly hope you are recognized for tour customer service.

It certainly is a bad experience to be marked as a suspect there. I was going to shop, but I was forced out before doing so. I was going to the bathroom, but forced to leave after just checking a machine out. Someone may have the premonition or paranoia that with what I wear and that I'm "colored" makes them think I'm a bad person. It's a shame that this has happened to me-I never got my bread, cereal and fruits. I'd rather go for the FoodMaxx across for low prices better service and respect from their employees to their customers-never again...

I went to the Greenhouse store today, and was unable to find vegan ground beef anywhere in the store. It's unacceptable to not offer something like Impossible Beef for vegan customers. This is my nearest grocery store, and I am unable to drive, so getting there is always difficult. To not make accommodations for vegan shoppers, isn't attractive for a national grocery store. I'm forced to make make alternative shopping arrangements from now on.

This Safeway is NEVER in stock! I live in San Leandro and usually shop in Alameda, just so I can get everything on my list! Plus they never have enough checkers in SanLeandro!!!

Long lines and when another cashier opened up a registered she only allowed 1 person at a time to get checked out. She would pick and choose the person she wanted to help keeping the line behind the person closed-end so she would not have a line at her register. I will not be returning to this place.

Friendly staff, what few are remaining. Get ready to wait because they dramatically understaff here, often only 1 lane open that isn't 15 items or less or self checkout. I'll use self checkout when I start getting an employee discount. Until then , I don't work there. Hire more people or close.

Please watch the date on all food products. I ended up getting a product that was a year and a month old. I wished that I looked at the date before taking a bite.

I went to the delivery dept. on 3/17/24 at about 4:15 pm. I waited behind another customer patiently. She cane to me, I asked for a ham sandwich on multigrain bread. She just threw the sandwich together real fast. She did not care AT ALL on the quality of the sandwich at all. She wrapped it in brown paper and handed it to me-no thank you or nothing. I went and paid for it. When I started to eat it, the bread was stuck to the paper. I carefully tried to pull it apart, and it just ripped off chunks of bread.
This horrible, worthless employee should be immediately fired for her attitude that she has towards the customers that gives her a job!! I might add that I paid $9.00 for this horrible sandwich.

I come here almost every day or every other day since foodmaxx in the same complex has a rat issue (lol). Safeway is clean, and usually pretty well stocked. The bakery items are always delicious and the produce is pretty fresh. I hope it stays this way forever please!!

Service. Was horrible. I actually took the time to complain and I am not some one who complains. I could not get a manager on the phone I will most likely be driving the extra 12 miles to the next-door to avoid this place
