Terrible customer service. I was next in line and a young lady that I choose not to name because I don't want to cause anyone to lose their job, ignored me and helped a gentleman that came inside after me. Please talk to your employees and remind them about customer service and how important it is for your facility to continue to operate effectively.

The worst experience ever, if I could give no stars I would. We called that morning and they said they had time and to bring her in. Her eye had been scratched by the cat. We bring her in at 9am, they said to come back at noon to pick her up. We arrived at noon and they said she hadn't been attended to or even seen by the vet yet. We wanted to take our dog home and they wouldn't release our dog without us paying $ 90. They admitted they hadn't even looked at her but still wanted us to pay. That is absolutely ridiculous behavior and unprofessional. Don't bring your pets here. Not recommended!

Se esta mejorando dia con dia.I have 3 dogs. One 2 were sick. One dog I take to this hospital and I have to sleep. The sister I take to other hospital and the other hospital help me alot to survive my dog. Every day she is feeling better. The 2 dogs start sick the same day. Now the dog I take to other hospital now is playing, she is eating. When I take my dog to other hospital they help me with medicines. They gave me 5 medicines. To help my dog. In this hospital it was the dog stay in the hospital and pay 5,000 to 8,000 or put to sleep. Here is to make money and they do not care the dogs. I do not recomend this hospital.

Unfortunately, I had to change my 5 star review to 1 and wish I could give a zero.I have been a loyal client at this veterinary clinic located at 525 Lewelling Blvd, San Leandro, CA 94579, since 2017.Today, when I brought in my 15-year-old chihuahua. I encountered an unfortunate situation. I had agreed to specific services for my dog. When I spoke to the technician, I communicated my intention to pay using Care Credit. I followed the provided link and paid the amount of $228.20 through the Care Credit application.Upon arriving to pick up my dog I was informed by the receptionist that the actual total was $288.00, as it did not include the tax. The discrepancy in the total was an oversight by the technician. Unfortunately, I had already completed the Care Credit process, and not having my wallet and phone with me made it inconvenient to address the additional payment. To resolve the matter, Jennifer P. , the hospital manager, was brought in. She explained that the technician had provided an incorrect amount and claimed that she had verbally communicated the correct total over the phone. I cannot recall the details of the phone conversation, and I relied on the amount sent to me. Jennifer's response was unexpectedly harsh and unprofessional. She was very quick to reprimand me. She declared that I was not a good fit for the hospital as a patient due to my inability to honor the verbal amount, and, to my surprise, stated that I was no longer welcome. Despite instructing the receptionist to credit the amount due, she maintained her stance on my dismissal.Furthermore, when I requested Jennifer's manager's contact information, she walked away, refusing to provide it. Subsequently, I approached the front desk for assistance, but they were unsure how to advise me. Jennifer reappeared and expressed reluctance, but ultimately provided her manager's email as a point of contact.Apperently there is video of the incident. I would like to review this myself. There was an instance where Jennifer handed me a pen and it slipped or I dropped the pen and this was viewed as "agressive". Being a person of color, it is my opinion that I was treated unfairly. I know I did not, yell, curse or do anything of the sort. I did stand up for myself, becuase the treatment was unjust. The manager Carrie G said the incident escalated quickly. I agree, it did, and it was not nessecary for the hospital manager quickly tell me I was no longer welcome over a mistake they made and did not take onus on. To add insult to injury, this location contacted a vet I hold in high regard at a different VCA location and has banned me. It is my opinion they did not share and an accurate account of the incident. It is also my opinion this was done out of retaliation, because I reached out to this vet as a reference. When speaking to Carrie, she asked in an angry tone why I tracked down 2 vets at different locations. I said it was because these vets know me and I wanted a reference. It saddens me to witness such a decline in service at a location where I had been a huge fan, over the years, I have been a devoted supporter of this clinic and have even shown my appreciation by treating the staff to a pizza party during the height of the pandemic. Admittedly, the disorganized and disjointed experience, coupled with the unexpected additional payment, left me feeling annoyed and terse during our interaction. Unfortunately, this recent encounter, especially with Jennifer's behavior, has left me questioning the quality of service and professionalism at the clinic.

Everything about my experience with this hospital has been inconvenient, illogical, and frankly unsafe since my dog was ignored in a cage during her all day vet appointment. They may do a good job in an emergency, but for routine vet care they are unbelievably inefficient. First of all, the scheduled vet appointment is a drop off appointment where they keep your dog in a cage for 6 hours while they wait for the doctor to be available. Then it takes the doctor another hour to call you. Your whole day revolves around this SCHEDULED vet appointment, and if you don’t make it back within the hour when they call you get charged a night of boarding where my dog would have continued to be ignored in a cage. As soon as I picked her up, she peed immediately and pooped so she was clearly left in the cage for the majority of the 6 hours she was stuck there. I left early without the vaccines that I came for because I could hear her crying from the lobby and I didn’t want her to be scared anymore! Horrible, experience for me and my dog. Abysmal and weird.

We were so happy with the kind support we got today! I didn't get the name of the woman who helped us, but it was the very end of a long day, and she was kind and calming and supportive. We found lost cat and wanted to get it checked for a microchip. We took it first to a vet close to our house. There someone vaguely waved a chip detector over part of the cat (she was still in the carrier) and said it had no chip. I had called VCA earlier in the day about how to check for a microchip, so we drove the extra miles. The woman who helped us had us take the cat out of the carrier, and she found the chip immediately Then she made calls looking for where it might be registered. Then she went out of her way to help us try to track down the owner. She was absolutely wonderful! Thank you!!

As another reviewer commented, this place is a damn circus. They schedule visits that they can't honor. You book what you think is an appointment time only to be told (usually by text) that it's *actually* a drop-off time. Oh, and that means you have to leave your scared pup at the vets all day, risk them getting sick, and make a *second* trip to their location to pick up your furry friend when they are done examining him. And this is all done at THEIR convenience. And, if you don't come within the hour that your pup is ready to be picked up you risk being charged a boarding fee. Yep! How's that for obnoxious? Apparently they think the rest of us are just sitting around doing nothing all day while they are the only ones working. Never mind that you are actually footing the bill for the service, it's YOU who gets to be jerked around. After being misinformed three times and having my in-person appointments cancelled on short notice, I finally called it quits. I might put up with the absurd runaround if the vet care was truly stellar, but I would categorize even that as average at best. Bad, bad customer service. Spare yourself the frustration. Go elsewhere.

As with any place that provides a service, VCA Lewelling is bottom line about money. I hate to say that animals and their human families come after it but, it’s true. My mother is still reeling about how she and a beloved pet were treated back in the spring and I felt it’s time to share it. My mother was denied a humane euthanizing of her pet because the doctors felt that X-rays and scans and medications were due instead, costing thousands of dollars, to try to treat her pets severely worsening neurological problems, including increased seizures and loss of bladder control. She was told that she was “taking the easy way out” by putting her pet down and was VERY CALLOUS in the manner of tone and speech about this. What pet owner WANTS to put a pet down, a member of their family? Would you tell a person who wants assisted suicide that they are taking the easy way out and should instead keep paying for treatments that aren’t helping? She already went through VCA Lewelling with a different pet and let them convince her to keep running tests and scans and medications to prolong that pets life when all it did was delay the inevitable and made that different pets life not any better and it provided no comfort to the pet nor the family. The doctor and staff should be ashamed of how they speak to grieving pet owners. This is addition to years of terrible bookkeeping and records and time management skills, both prior to and during Covid times.

Set an appointment here for my two cats. A very knowledgeable staff. It was my cats first time going to the vet. We got accomodations for our cats at at fee. Very reasonable prices. Would definitely recommend for anybody that seeks a safe hands for your pets.

I called to make an appointment for my dogs to have their paws checked because they got burrs caught in there due to their walks in the park. One of my dogs was bleeding because her nails got scraped on the pavement. I just wanted a precautionary check as I didn't want it to get infected. They didn't communicate clearly before I came in. The cost was $128 per dog and that they would be staying for several hours before they could see them. I didn't want to take a chance they got sick since they don't have the canine flu shot yet. The waiting area floor and seats had dog hair which means they don't sweep or wipe down as often as they should. They air felt a bit musty. The exterior of building was not bad. They had good signage. It was easy to get to, several parking spots and a clean doggy potty area. The person at the front desk area who I was dealing with seemed very nervous and awkward when I was asking questions. After thinking about it for 5 minutes I decided not to use their services. It just didn't feel right since they didn't tell me price and I just had negative feelings about using their services.

Called 1.5 weeks ago. Offered a Saturday 6/10/23 8:00 am or 8:30 am appointment. Chose 8:00. Arrived early as instructed by the prior 3 days of reminders (email and text) 7:50 walked up to the door and the sign said OPEN COME INTO THE LOBBY. Door was locked. Few minutes later a polite young man opened the door and said we could come in when a room was ready. Few minutes later he opened the door and took us to a room. The vet tech came in and started asking us questions and on the chart our dog's birthday was wrong. She told us the dr was busy with an emergency. Understandable. Next she told us she could take Buster in the back. I said No. I'm wondering why she would offer to take him in the back if the dr was busy with an emergency? She offered an afternoon appointment. I asked today? She said No, not today, but let me check for an afternoon appointment another day. I'm wondering why an afternoon appointment when originally I was offered a morning appointment? At this point I was completely confused and nothing was making sense and we decided to leave. Husband said we will never go back and I agree!!! So does Buster!!!

These guys can't get their stories straight. It really should not be this difficult to find vet care(Editing my review from one star to two stars. Normally these "response from owner" messages never end well. This one, regardless of ending, made me feel like someone actually cared about why I didn't make an appointment with a vet that has far more 5 stars than not)

Big scam and big waste of time and money, they aren’t transparent about their prices or procedures and would continue to add charges for unclear procedures/exams despite constant disapproval or request for clarification. It’s clear they answer simple questions with complex answers to trick owners into spending their money before even considering your pet. Wasted an entire day and a good amount of money just trying to get a clear price estimate for a very simple procedure (which couldn’t even happen). Receptionist was also very cold and unfriendly but I appreciate the doctors’ helpful attitude. Entire process, including picking up my pet, was very slow moving and inconvenient
