The servers work very hard to keep everyone served in a timely manner. We have never had a bad meal, or experience. We will drive from AG any day to eat at the Budget Cafe! (xoxo)

I love this place! Great pricing and lots of food though the burritos are hit or miss.

I have to admit I was a little apprehensive about going to a place called the 'BudgetCafe'. This place has been in SLO for ages. Ever since my father-in-law told me a bad food related story from this place, that happened many years ago, I was definitely not gonna go! I guess maybe it's now under new owners? And I heard the food was good, so my husband and I decided to try it. The atmosphere is old school diner feel. I tend to like that home style blast from the past feeling. I had the country scramble with a biscuit and my husband had pancakes and eggs and bacon. My scramble was delicious. Topped with cheese and had sausage, potatoes, onions etc. The biscuit was also delish! Husband said his pancakes were good and they were huge! Also served with boysenberry syrup. They have whipped butter, too. Price was reasonable and the food was good. Our waitress was nice and attentive! We will be back

One of the best spots to go to for breakfast. The staff are so sweet and welcoming. The food is sooo good. Worth every penny. Will definitely be my go to spot when I visit San Luis Obispo.

An outstanding restaurant in many ways. First, the menu is varied with great offerings, especially breakfasts. I've enjoyed eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns and toast often . Every time they exceed my expectations. Too, I've had the waffles and pancakes..simply outstanding, bathed in lots of butter and syrup ( maple and raspberry). There are many other breakfast items as well. All great!. I've also enjoyed the lunch items, especially the many sandwiches and daily soups ( navy bean & ham my favorite). Second, the great menu and quality of the food is significantly enhanced by the wonderful staff. Rhonda, the owner, and her team, are exceptional and create a home-style environment with their efficient, friendly service. It's SLO's " Breakfast Cheers, where everyone knows your name"....and genuinely cares about you. It's a must!!!

We've been to this cafe numerous times. The food is hit and miss as to the whether it is hot or cold... the first time when we went here as a large family group, things were great. However, when my spouse and I returned by ourselves the service would wane between good and poor. I'm not sure if they're short staffed or just non observant. Today, no one acknowledged us - we went ahead and seated ourselves, we had to ask for coffee and menus from the busboy. Needless to say we left the place after waiting about 10-15 minutes with no hello or welcome and after the waitress went and helped the two people who came in after us in the next booth. We won't go back for another try.

Been there several times and each time gets worse. Last two times food was cold and then today after waiting 15 minutes to get service we left. A couple came in after we waited 15 minutes and the waitress went up to them and took there order. There was another couple that got over looked also. The owner walked by us several times and never said a thing. Won't be back.

A small and cozy, papas and mamas type cafe. The food is good, the staff is friendly.I had a great time to chat with the owner (I assume). She is super friendly. The fruit cup is amazing, I’ve never seen the varieties of fruit such as banana, pineapple, green and red grapes, orange, red grapefruit, and kiwi. The salsa tastes so fresh. They grind the coffee beans and brew, which is impressive. It is a hidden gem!

Friendly service and I love the old diner atmosphere. The food was top notch, definitely the best I’ve had in slo for breakfast/diner food. I liked it even more than Louise’s to be honest. The pancakes were perfectly fluffy, the bacon and sausage was cooked just right and the gravy is to die for! I’m going to be going back over and over again.
