We bought a place in SLO about a year and half ago with the thought we'd eventually retire there. I wanted to deal locally and was referred to McGee Insurance Agency. I've had excellent experiences working with Jack on our Homeowners policy so ulitmately switched all of our auto and a Bay Area residence to McGee. I like their responsiveness and great service which too many firms just don't seem to provide these days. I'd highly recommend them.

Tim has been our insurance agent since we moved here back in 1992. He insures our automobiles and home. We have two kids who are at the driving age now. Whenever we need to add or subtract a car from our policy, the process has been incredibly smooth and we even got a refund back because I forgot to let them know when we sold a car (thank you for that!). Luckily, our accidents have been kept to a minimum and with each incident, Tim and his amazing team have been very helpful and fast! This company is amazing! Quick to respond, help and bring insurance immediately when needed. (Like when purchasing a new vehicle!)They also go over your insurance policies every year to make sure you are getting the best price and to see if there are any changes to suit your needs.Besides that they are have truly exceptional people skills. Amy from McGee was very helpful in beginning the process of getting insurance setup (home & auto), despite a short timetable ahead of Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, they asked hardly any questions about our home and once the documentation came...there were many mistakes (mainly assumptions made) and I didn't feel comfortable signing the DocuSign (despite them saying later that it didn't matter, come again!?). Since it was the Thanksgiving Holiday, I was unable to reach them via phone or email (4-days), which is understandable.Ultimately, I did not sign-off...but the insurance went into effect anyhow! In the meantime, I had gone with another insurance company (USAA), who I'm very happy with.I tried working with both McGee and Mercury on getting a refund for the one-day of insurance I never intended to have, but they refused AND tacked on a 10% fee ($66.76). Since they had collected my bank account information, there was no chance for a chargeback or similar remedy.Despite McGee saying they have considerable influence over the insurance companies they represent, that was definitely not the case in this unusual circumstance. I commend them helping to act and cancel the unwanted insurance, but am disappointed they could not do more.
