Very pleased with Penske. I called the night before and they brought a truck and trailer to the location closest to me the next morning. The customer service was awesome and the whole process was very easy.

I want to say first, Brian "no last name" is my reason for this review. I got off the phone with him 10 minutes ago. He is rude, condescending, laughed at me, told me word for word "I'll tell you right now, Penske doesn't care about you." I asked "are you an employee of Penske?" YES "so to clarify, you are representing penske and you DO NOT care about me....your customer." He laughed at my safety concerns driving a 16 foot truck rather than the 12" that I reserved. I explained I drive a little 4 door and if they could keep that in mind....I was being set up to crash their giant truck that I didn't rent. But they don't care, again he made that very clear. I understand Brian may have been having a stress full day but he had plenty of opportunities to provide actual customer service. Instead he took those opportunities and used them to put me down and act like I was stupid for asking..,.asking for what I reserved.... TIP**** I booked a 12 foot truck for about $300 no mileage fees for three days with a pickup and drop off at different locations. Same truck dropped off at the same location for one day with 1.29/mile was going to cost about $700. So if u have the ability to drop it somewhere else and rent the moving truck for a few days you save like....60% ish Again, Brian is a nightmare and should probably work for an insurance company or maybe just stick to washing the trucks in the back with 0 customer interaction. Please never call anyone again, you suck at talking to people and your rating in customer service is -400. BRO you work for a truck rental company, if you don't like your life FIX IT stop working there if you are so miserable. Hopefully management sees this and does something about this boys attitude problem. He also had 0 information besides: 1. the truck I rented isn't the truck I'll be getting and no Penske doesn't care if they're forcing you to drive a 16" truck with 0 experience 2. I had the option to pickup at 8 am while reserving online. BRIAN tells me they actually open at 9 and I'd be sitting there for a while if he hadn't called (imagine a self satisfied "hehehhe" right here) 3. My personal favorite info he had was "I have no knowledge on the drop off location (tehehehe?? Wtf?) so call them yourself Overall -2000000000 billion stars for Brian's garbage customer service. Speaking of garbage, looks like south county sanitation has an opening for you. You might enjoy tossing garbage into a truck 10x more than your current job. Good luck!

This store is so clean it shows how much they take pride in this location. Bryan was very friendly and helpful and the truck with the lift gate was easy to work and extremely helpful! I will rent from them again.

Needed a truck to move our son into his college apartment. After looking online at the various options Penske appeared to be the best choice. Reserved a 12 foot truck online in September, 2 weeks prior for our trek to San Luis Obispo. I showed up at 8a at the Poway, CA location that i selected and was in the truck and out of the lot in 5 mins. The truck was like new and easy to drive. They even had a 12% AAA discount. After arriving and unloading at our destination we decided to drop off the truck the same day, even though the rental minimum was 3 days(all the rental companies are like that). The drop off site was closed but they offer an after hours drop off box which was convenient, easy, and safe. Would definitely recommend and use them again as a first choice. Penske pricing, rental process, and vehicle condition was 5 stars.

2 words. Unlimited mileage. Makes this a bargain compared to U-Haul. New clean truck worked great mechanically. Had places to charge phones & plug in speaker.

Had a great experience renting a truck from this Penske office. The quote was exactly what I was charged, and the gentleman helping me check out was great. The truck I needed was available last minute, and was brand new.

If I could give negative stars, I would. Two guys run this operation, both are total as* holes. First they tried to charge me an extra $200 for the delivery of the truck from Bakersfield. That was NOT in the "firm" quote I got 3 days earlier when I reserved the truck. I told them that. Their reply was to say: You pay it or you don't get the truck. I said, then I'll do it next weekend when the truck is here. They told me that I was had to have been told about the charge (basically calling me a liar). I was not told, and I had a photo of my notes. I said "call this number." They did, and were told to knock off the $200. They tried to strong arm me into $24 per day insurance (which my personal insurance does cover) - they said it wont because it's a commercial vehicle. On that, they lied (I had called my agent the day before). Upon checking out the truck for dents I took pictures of the 2 dents. Really annoyed the guy. Really? At this point, I don't trust them at all. Upon return I parked on the street because it wasn't obvious where I should park to return (I could not get behind the gate where I picked it up), so the street (wide open) seemed a good option. So I go in the office, and the guy barks at me "where's the truck?" I said, "it's on the street, where do you want it?" He says: by the sigh RIGHT THERE where is says Penske Truck RETURNS parking (emphasis on returns). So I move the truck in front of the sign, which does NOT say "returns". It only says "Penske parking". That could mean a host of things. Clarity would be nice. So I go back in the office and politely say "I would have parked it there, IF it had said "returns." He said, it does. I point out it does not. (He can't see if from the office). He says "well, where did you pick it up?" I said "in the back, behind the locked gate, so I put it on the street where your other truck is." He says, "that's not supposed to be there." I said "how am I to know that?" Really... what am I? A mind reader. I would gladly pay more to avoid these guys. Both of them (about 50-60 years old) are total dicks. Go anywhere else. They are associated with SLO City Storage.

The agent running this Wouldn't accept a paper AAA card, claiming it had to be plastic and swipable which added 70$ to my total. I was. It aware AAA made plastic cards as I have always had paper.. on top of that I declined all insurance when I ordered online but he added "LDW" for 80$ as I was checking out without any questions.. Will never rent from them again.
