The Co-op is good about vegan food but not yet great. They recently moved their vegan refrigerated foods to a cabinet just for vegan food. That was a good call, and I'm hoping it will encourage them to continue to increase their vegan offerings. It's a tiny store with a very large health and beauty section.
The Co-op also has a cabinet for deli items, though it's rare to find anything vegan in there, and the locally prepared food is expensive.
I've been a member of the Co-op for many years and most appreciate their vegetable section, as most items are organic or at least no-spray, and many of these beautiful foods are local. I have sold my apples and avocados to the Co-op, which are never exposed to poison, but I can't call my produce "organic" because ORGANIC has a specific legal definition. I'll also have chayotes and oranges for them next year. I appreciate that they take produce from locals.
The Co-op also puts out a regular email newsletter that highlights this or that fruit/vegetable and almost always has at least one vegan recipe.

Great experience. We're lucky to have a coop in this town. Only thing is I wish I found some locally made tofu

The SLO Food Co-op perfectly met our needs, coming home from vacation. We were able to do our shopping for the week with a beautiful selection of local produce, fresh breads, vegan dairy, tofu, and all our staples, at fair prices. The staff were friendly and a sign read that a personal shopper is available for any reason.

If you're traveling through SLO and looking for a great place to pick up some picnic sandwiches and items this is your place! It's not the biggest grocery store in SLO but it's the best. The quality of their produce alone is second to none. Their in-house made soups, pasta salads, curry and that amazing salsa is also second to none. Some of the freshest bread in town, a great health/vitamin supplement section and competitive prices on a lot of things when compared to other larger stores. Friendliest people in town. It does not get more to the core of what SLO used to be (and still is) than this store.

Co-ops a favorite because of principle. Not much in way of vegan eats out the door i.e., ? salad, variety of sandwiches or just cold slaw. May find something different here than usual markets. Not far from downtown SLO.

We came here on a hot day because my daughter wanted lemonade and I wanted a healthy version, plus lunch. We found a great lemonade with only 3 ingredients, plus got a yummy lunch. The deli isn't made to order, but they have some nice pre-made options ready to go. We shared a PB&J, plus a curried chicken salad that we all liked, and a box of crackers. There is a little table outside where we ate. It was all a really nice experience. The staff was so nice and everything was yummy. The bathroom was really clean. They even offered the kids a free piece of fruit and a sticker at checkout! Oh, and we saw that you can bring your own container to fill with local honey (or other bulk items.) We want to come back and do that sometime.

I mean, do we really need to say it? Just walk in the door, if you're not satisfied then you probably haven't left the country in awhile. It's a DAMN good place to be. Visit them today and leave the country next week!

The breakfast burrito is really good. It's got the sweetness from the sweet potato and the lemon tang plus yogurt, eggs, black beans. And it's organic too! Thank you to the chef who prepared this and created the recipe. It's the BEST breakfast burrito I've had from any market or local co-op. The $6.99 price is unbeatable. Service was friendly and there's a restroom for customers. You can use the microwave.

Best in town for customer service, local produce, and all groceries. It's very convenient to shop for everyone, plus if you are a member, there are great discounts!
