Stoked that SLO has a climbing gym and that it's a great gym. Wall room is big and has a nice variety of routes. A couple more auto belays would be nice. Two regular gym areas for resistance training and cardio, and a campus/climbing specific area as well. Kid friendly gym with auto belays on a kid wall. Tons of college students. Lounge area with WiFi to study or chill. Parking can get pretty impacted in peak hours. Try Pizza Republic two blocks away it's perfect for after a climbing session.

I had my first experience climbing at this gym...and I mean climbing ever because (many people will get a good laugh out of this) I worked for Crux for about 8 years! I did some general maintenance for them but the notorious owner girl never once offered a discount or trade-out to climb, she almost did not want customers it seemed...it was a wild ride working with her and some of the hardest stuff to clean I have had...glad to be done with that! I will say I got to see her mellow with age over the years but she was always a unpredictable character and seemed detached from the real world. Few people know she lived at the gym and was irritated by people coming to climb...I would love to know the full story of Crux! But I like this gym, its casual...possibly too casual with 2 mins of training you can go up a 40ft wall attached to safety belay gizmo then walk to the boulder section with no safety rope and totally forget you are not locked-in, I nearly pushed straight back at about 14ft high expecting to be lowered to the ground. Otherwise an amazing gym and killer workout...I would love to go as much as possible. I will finish with a negative though...hate the pictures of mask-wearing workers on the top of site page!! Get rid of that symbolism of fear and lying please, i realize it is probably to make the fringe weirdos feel safe but why not appeal to the strong instead of the weak?

Best climbing gym in the area, reasonably inexpensive and the routes are always being updated.

Good routes, nice staff, poor grading. It was a good atmosphere but the routes were graded very softly. Soft grading is bad grading. Even my ego was becoming inflated after I climbed a grade, sometimes two, harder than I would have.

Nice place. Route setting is pretty good, bouldering walls are updated regularly, lead wall less so. 24-hour access for members. Member climbing in the roped area before the gym opens, though I often find it's still locked. Doesn't have the fancy amenities you'd find at big city gyms, but no worries. Tension board is a big bonus! The best (also, only, to be fair) climbing gym in SLO.My main gripe is the kids camp that runs all summer. Really kills the vibe - kids running under you while bouldering, lots of screaming, camp takes up the roped area most of the day. But, hey, it's a business and I get it. 11:30 is the window if you need to avoid the kid-crowd and want to do laps in the roped area.

Super dope! Place to be yourself and climb a very wide variety of routes. Has awesome member benefits.

Best climbing in the SLO area! Can get busy from 4-7pm daily which also makes parking difficult. Best bet is to come outside of those hours. The top rope routes can get repetitive as they are only changed every 30-45 days. Lots of bouldering space available and workout spaces too!

Great place for beginners and experts a like, the bouldering wall was very non-intimidating for a first timer like myself but only the best could actually climb all the routes. I took a star off because it's very expensive for such little services, at $110/mo ($68 if you pay for the whole year at one time) it's just hard to stomach, especially because I'd want to go with my wife.

Pretty good routes, though generously rated compared to NorCal gyms. Some are basically just creative pull ups, but there are creative routes in the mix. Would be 4-5 stars, but it seems they have fired their janitor. The gym floors has gotten filthier and filthier this year, which is a bit disappointing because they used to keep it pretty clean. Brought it up to the staff, but was rudely dismissed, another newer problem with the gym that didn't used to exist (ruder/less friendly staff in general)

Hey this gym is great!, little cold for my taste but maybe I'm a baby. Was helped by Emma and Evan throughout the day and both were down to earth and professional to the fullest. Climbed just about everything besides auto belays and I appreciated the safety checks for the top rope and lead test. There were some kids running around in the bouldering area which I personally don't like for safety purposes but it wasn't happening on a consistent basis. Would recommended to others when in the area and plan to come back in the future when I drive through the area :)

Wanted to check this place out because it was the closest gym to our Airbnb. It was definitely worth the hour drive to get here! The staff were incredibly nice and helpful, especially Evan and Emma. The environment of the gym is super comfortable with a lot of variety for bouldering and lead climbing. Felt very homey and welcomed even though it was my first time here. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a new gym to try out!
