Bayside/Joinville Park is a nice, multi-use public park in San Mateo, CA. It is a quiet, clean, and well-maintained area with a large field, grass fields, a baseball diamond, and softball and soccer fields. The park features a good playground with a slide and jungle gym that is partly shaded, along with tennis courts where people play pickle ball. It offers access to water and a cool walking path by the Mariner's Lagoon, making it a nice place to look at birds like Night Herons and other shore birds. The park includes a picnic area with reservable tables and grills, perfect for a BBQ or a large group. There is an outdoor swim center that gets busy in the summer. Restrooms are open and fairly clean, though some maintenance issues have been noted. For dog owners, there is a dog park located across a pedestrian bridge. Parking is usually easier to find on the street near the playground than in the common parking lot, as the driveway entrance is not clearly marked. This community park is a perfect place for the whole family to rest, exercise, walk a dog, or take a break.
Decent turf field for soccer, plus a baseball field, as well as a large grassy area for other sports. There is also a play structure for young kids, and a picnic table area with a useful bathroom. Parking lot is usually pretty packed on the weekends, but there’s plenty of street parking within a 5 minute walk.
