Kathy and Kayla were really pleasant and knowledgable. I also love that Byrds is a certified California green business and are working to make our community more sustainable. As someone who cares about the environment, my health and the climate -this is my go to store

Have been many times to Byrd’s to refill my soaps and buy gifts for friends. I’m not perfect but try to shop at Byrd’s and buy less from large online or box stores. Even just committing to go plastic free for specific items is a start. It may be a very tiny drop in the bucket, but it’s a step in the right direction. Don’t forget to bring your own containers to refill - though they sell containers for a nominal fee if needed.

This place is quickly becoming the heart and soul of the city. Great place to pick up natural bulk food, friendly knowledgeable staff - during my most recent visit with family there were local artisans selling jewelry and local olive oil producers with stands in the store

What a wonderful concept for a store! I was blown away by the wide variety of sustainable products. So many items are unique, thoughtful, and affordable. This makes it so much easier to contribute to the sustainability cause. I am grateful that this store is in a convenient location in downtown San Mateo, as I will be coming back on a regular basis!

Amazing and convenient store! Really great sustainable option to keep you environmentally conscious. You can refill various food items including spices, candy, and eggs. Other sustainable products include toiletries, makeup, and cleaning products. Wide range of items for every occasion! The staff was also super accommodating and friendly. Will definitely be coming back!

A really great place if you want to be more sustainable. Bring your own jars and fill them up with grains, nuts, treats. The toasted peanut butter is a must try. A lot of great household supplies with recyclable packages. I highly recommend visiting it.

I love shopping at Byrd's. I live about 30 minutes away so I have to plan ahead to go when I am passing by on my way to SF. Be sure to bring your containers and jars (they have some too) and make a shopping list. I like to tare all my jars before I start shopping. My favorite items are the Puretergent dish soap, Oneka shampoo, dried beans, spices (check out the cost of bay leaves which are a real steal!), 10% vinegar, Blueland products, pure maple syrup, and for a treat, the vegan organic jolly beans (jelly beans). I also just discovered the chili mango which is totally addictive. They will help you refill items that are a little more tricky like syrup. For me, going to Byrd's is a fun and also a rewarding experience, knowing that I made at least a small difference in reducing plastic waste. I've probably come here five times x 10 jars/containers = 50 less items in landfill! It's actually become a bit of an obsession for me - sometimes I'm shopping at other stores and I buy a product because it is in a great jar with a good lid/spout that I can reuse later to shop at Byrd's!

I saw Byrd's Filling Station on my IG feed and had to drive from Petaluma to check it out! They have food items in bulk, grains, dried fruits, nuts and so much more. Some vegan cheeses that are non dairy. Different cleaning products from dish soap, body soaps and lotions. There's so much more they have I can't even list! We picked up / refilled pure Castile almond soap, Rustic dish soap, organic plant based dry milk, a few Dr Bronners chocolate bars and a couple other items. If your in the neighborhood or even sort of close they are worth checking out. One cool thing is there's a weighing station you put your container on, take a RFI tag and touch the display and the tag has the weight information so when you check out it's easy!!

Fancy store where you could get most of household items filled. I got a walnut sourdough from them, it was delicious. I love the concept of reduce waste a ton, thank you for making it a reality

When it opened, I thought it was a store with just another gimmick. Visiting at the behest of my sustainability conscious daughter I was pleasantly surprised. What I personally appreciated the most, was the opportunity to try out various products without getting a whole package worth. We've been wanting to mix it up with various grains like farro, barley, lentils, and quinoa and I was able to get just enough for a single dish. When making a new dish from a new cuisine, I can get just what the recipe calls for instead of a whole jar. My son had been asking for avocado oil for cooking, so I was glad I could get just a few ounces before making a bigger commitment. For frequently used cleaning products, seems much more economical than buying a new plastic bottle that's mostly water. We will definitely be back.

One of my favorite stores ever! Easy bike or walk from Caltrain station (I take caltrain up from Menlo Park just to go to this store!) Such a wonderful selection of products and the employees are kind and helpful. Lots of neat little gifts and general grocery products. Highly recommend!
