Thankfully we have a Microcenter in the bay area now so I don't think I'll have to go back here. They usually have a decent inventory, but everything is locked up in cabinets and employees seem to actively try to avoid interacting with you. I have about a 50% success rate of being able to buy something here without giving up trying to get someone's attention or waiting for the one employee helping customers to be free. Prices are generally higher than online retailers. I don't think their main business is retail, at least I hope so for the businesses sake. After Fry's shut down they were the only name in town for 5 years aside from maybe Best Buy, but they failed to do much with that.

Have gone here the last two years for help, guidance and assistance with my laptop. The staff have been nothing but extremely helpful, polite and understanding. I highly recommend this store to anyone who needs any computer support no matter what type. Thank you for your help and dedication. Shout out to Charlotte! Thanks !!!

In short, I don't appreciate this store's management taking advantage of consumers by selling hard to find hardware 10% over MSRP and giving such a slim return window(14 days).
If you're in the loop on PC hardware, you know that consumer GPUs are hard to come by upon release. This has been the fact for years. Bots nab them quickly online for scalping on eBay, and retail locations often get very little stock if at all.
Twice in the last decade, I've bought a GPU from this location upon release. Both times they were marked up. Most recently, I bought a 9070 xt. There could only have been about two dozen units, given that they started running out before the line ended. This means that Central Computers is happy to take advantage of customers willing to wait outside before opening for an extra profit that wouldn't even clear a measly 2k.
Central Computers is a small chain, sure. They aren't struggling though. They have 5 locations and billboards all around the Bay, one of the most tech-centric areas on the continent, with surprisingly little competition other than Best Buy for physical retail. They've expanded continuously over the last decade. If every store had stock, it would mean less than an extra 10k. That's negligible for a business this size. It's just greed.
As someone that works in IT, Central Computers will likely remain as my last resort, but nothing more.

Not the biggest store, but when it comes to PCs, they most likely have everything you need. And their prices are excellent. Much less distracting than a trip to Fry's used to be.

Not much customer service on their return side; they over price their cd keys and they don’t carry a good selection of older generational models. Amazon has better prices. Some staff are better than others.

Lots of good computer components. Good for a few parts or looking around but not enough space for more parts

Wanted to build a new PC and not order from Amazon. I was going to drive to LA and Microcenter when I found Central Computers. Placed an order online and the price without tax was actually cheaper than Microcenter. They didn't have stock of the 7800x3d CPU at this store but were able to let me pick it up the same day from another store.
I even had a small issue during the build that when I called them, they were willing to help me debug the issue. Great to support a local business that treats its cusotmers right!
