Me and my family were being abused by my step father who would scream and hit my mom and my big brother. I liked the the place a little till they told us we had to get rid of our tv and our dog when we were sharing it with the other residents because the tv in the floor was broken and we even said CORA could keep the tv and use it but they said no because quote “Other people will bring their tv’s and pets”. I was like what and on top of that they offered therapy after they kicked us out instead of when my mom was begging them to give us therapy but no and .An Asian women told us we had 30 mins get our stuff then she said to my mom”Your sons better hurry up or I’m calling the police”. The whole matter was frustrating and it honestly felt like we were trash so I would not recommend this program to any families

I contacted CORA for about a year when I had to live with a very severely abusive husband- he had dislocated my child's arm, slammed me into walls and down on my spine when I was pregnant. He screamed at me constantly on a daily basis when I had to move back in with him for a period of time. CORA was great about therapy as I had to hide in the bathroom while my ex was screaming at me and accusing me of situations that he knew were untrue. However, they refused me emergency housing and protection when he is twice my size and I never even defended myself (I would be dead if I did; he is crazy). I found out the judge, Don Franchi has volunteered and is associated and he is the same family law judge I had when I experienced very extreme corruption in San Mateo County and there is an association. I cannot work anymore and now need to sue Don Franchi as well as well as CORA. I could have died due to this corruption, and this directly defies discriminatory laws in California.Just to add- I did reach out to the CEO, Karen, who honestly was incompetent in resolving the matter.

Suing them. I dealt with severe domestic abuse for over ten years from my ex husband and was begging them for protection. They stated because I had a heart condition it would be a liability. I called them over 100 times. I talked to the CEO finally today, Karen, as I am filing a civil suit against them and she just stated she could not provide information as to whether Judge Don Franchi volunteered there (based on other people I spoke with he is associated, and he is the most corrupt judicial official I have ever come across) and also refused to provide me a reason as to why they refused protection despite an emergency scenario. Karen just stated I need to get a subpeona, and that that is the only way I can find out if the judge don franchi and his unlawful corruption has ever been associated (even though I have already been informed he has and there is a ridiculous degree of nepotism associated with him and his wife, another lawyer couple, possibly Marianne Rossi but data deletion that is illegal and could be held criminally punishable has caused a lot of problems because of these parties for many people I have spoken to) and also I would need to get the JUDGE to force the information forcing another stating that he ever volunteered at any capacity, which should be public information unless you are trying to cover something up. CORA needs to be held accountable. And the CEO, Karen, needs to resign immediately.

I have a heart condition since childhood and almost died due to severe domestic abuse. My ex husband filed for a dissolution in a county neither of us had ever resided in two weeks after I left him to save my own life. Judge Don Franchi was my judge and he apparently works for CORA at some capacity and is affiliated. My ex husband severely abused me including throwing me into a wall and dislocating my youngest child's arm. I now have PTSD due to this. CORA refused me protection "because I have a heart condition". I WILL BE SUING and it is not just me this has happened to- the same judge who is affiliated with this corruption has destroyed other Mother's lives after speaking with women in San Mateo County.

I love the idea of this place but I have a feeling shady stuff is going on…they not only had/have bedbugs but the two months I was there they had me move 3 times not counting the times we went to a hotel because I refused to let my children get bitten up by those nasty bugs. We left a horrible situation and went to CORA…let me say it got worse! They put me and my two young kids out,no exit plan,no place to stay the next night and they wouldn’t let me come get our stuff. So much stuff never came back,it’s been 9 months and still haven’t found a place and my kids and I aren’t together because I didn’t want them to live in a car. I’m sure this program has worked for some but I know that if I was treated this way others have been too. I didn’t break any rules I just refused to live in those conditions. Leaving and going to CORA was the worst mistake of my life,it has ruined my life,I cry as I write this review. I leave this review in hopes that it saves another person from the heart ache and pain my kids and I have been through. I often wonder if it’s the color of our skin that made us disposable to them? All I know is they were supposed to help us,not put us in even more danger than before. I’ve heard that for them to kick us out with no place to go with maybe 12 hours notice was against the law,and for them to hold all of our belongings. But as long as I get my children back I’ll be able to take it as a learning lesson…never put your trust into something that seems too god to be true.

I tried for over a week to reach their 24 hour hotline and office. Finally got a live person on their hotline 11 attempts and the person who answered the phone was DRUNK. After cutting me off when trying to explain my situation I was told to 'go home' . I was stabbed and tried to leave and a 'trained' representative tells me to go back to the person who assaulted me?? My experience was absolutely disgraceful.

I reached out to this organization to get help leaving a partner after being stabbed and harassed. After 11 attempts to both their office and hotline I finally got a live person on their hotline. She was clearly drunk and or intoxicated. After trying to explain my situation, she cut me off and told me to go home. AFTER BEING STABBED!! As the only organization in my area to call, I am appalled. Leadership at CORA. You ought to be ashamed at the lack of training and compassion of your staff

I truly do not have enough words for this organization and the humanitarian love, respect, and amazing people involved. Each day, I keep on reminding myself that I will pay-forward in the countless ways that they have supported me. CORA Center, and their remarkable staff, are those I pray for everyday. They are selfless, operate with kindness, and I remain blessed to cross their path. It was an honor to have the opportunity to engage with them, and even knowing, that if I ever need them again.

I worked for CORA for two months recently and wanted y'all to know my thoughts as an employee and as a former battered person. The individuals that work there are DEDICATED and deeply care about the people they serve. They give so much heart and so much time to serving our community. (Most of which is never seen and therefore cannot be properly appreciated) They go to great lengths to secure as much help as they can for clients. Recently they put on a Back to School Party for parents and their children handing out beautiful backpacks filled with goodies the kids need to attend school. CORA has therapy for children and adults and I got to see first hand the difference they make. I was once in that situation and just to have yourself be heard is amazing. But they do so much more! I am on to my next adventure but CORA is now on of my designated companies I donate to. I also plan on volunteering there in the near future. Check out their website. They are so deserving of your time and money.
