In January, I met my colleagues at our storage unit in Foster City, and we rode together to the Home Depot in nearby San Mateo to purchase some racks to better organize all of the stuff our organization has accumulated over the years. As soon as we arrived, I went to find the restroom. To my surprise and great disappointment, I saw an employee not wash his hands when leaving the restroom. Disgusted, I went to notify customer care, but they were busy with other customers. It seemed like they were assisting people who were picking up items - I guess there is not a separate department for that. On top of that, I was not impressed with the condition of the racks we purchased and assembled when we got back to the storage unit. I took a photo that shows the dirt/grease smudges on the metal racks. Another one shows a wrapped part that only one of the boxes contained. Was it in there by mistake, or was it missing from the other box? Home Depot can and should do a lot better.

Once again I gave HD another chance, why? Came to pick up a larger item and person in customer service says he can't get to it because they're busy unloading things in shipping and receiving. Come back tomorrow but don't come between 7-9pm. Now I have to make another trip when they are busy. Why don't they put this information out there??

I was here for a scavenger for my youth group and the staff was very understanding and allowed it so that was nice. Other than that it is Home Depot and it has everything you would need and expect from a Hone Depot.

Amazing selection of plants. Friendly staff. Tried to find a hinge for a cupboard and found the process of matching my old one frustrating because the shelves were chaotic, but a staff member helped and when it appeared they did not stock the item gave me useful advice.

It's my favorite HD but I think they need to improve customer service.

This location is not good. Place is a mess. Employees hide instead of help you.Not recommended.

Shout out to Ali at Pro Desk. He helped me with special order delivery. He will call you with status update (very nice) before the delivery. Was very easy to call/reach him with order modification. Solved some complex return process very easy. First time leaving review here. He is exceptional. If you are a homeowner who wants personal help at HD, then Ali is the person to work with. Also, Robert who is very proactive in helping you out with loading/off loading.Thank you all

Be prepared to wait 30mins to get help getting something out of a locked box. Might just be faster to just order it from Amazon and save your time.

While shopping at Home Depot, I noticed a lot of unhappy peeps shaking their heads and muttering about the closed bathrooms. Portable toilets outside??? Here's why. Go figure.

Today, we bought a clearance refrigerator at Home Depot. Before the purchase, we asked if we could test the refrigerator's functions. The store employee refused to let me test it and guaranteed that the refrigerator was working properly. So I hired contractors to help me bring the refrigerator home. To my dismay, the refrigerator's cooling system was completely inoperable. When I went back to find the store clerk, he told me to either find someone to repair it or ship the refrigerator back in order to get a refund. My request was for them to send someone to pick it up themselves. Selling me a broken refrigerator is their problem, and I would have to pay an additional $300 to hire a contractor to ship it back. They refused to pick it up, leaving me to bear the responsibility of shipping the refrigerator back myself. I hope that they can either give me a working refrigerator in exchange or send someone to pick this one up. They deliberately gave me a hard time and made me wait for two hours and still told me that they couldn't find the carrier take the broken refrigerator back.

Larger than other Home Depots with plenty of parking and room to grow. Had everything we wanted and saw online before going to this store.

After checking multiple Home Depots without success, I visited the San Mateo store out of convenience. Two friendly ladies directed me to Pete, a knowledgeable gentleman. Thankfully, Pete not only knew exactly what I was looking for but also helped me secure the last five tiles in stock. He made my day after months of searching. If you find yourself in Home Depot in San Mateo, don't hesitate to ask for Pete. Thanks, Pete!

They need to get staff who can answer the phone. I was on hold for over an hour before I gave up.
