I’ve been meaning to write this review for years. I don’t enjoy leaving negative feedback, but I feel it’s important to share my consistent experience. Most of the individuals who work at this location come across as rushed and unfriendly. As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted with a curt “What do you got for us today?”—which feels more like a warning to have your QR code ready than a welcoming start. Customers are often steered toward using the automated Amazon return kiosk, which seems more about avoiding extra work for the staff than offering convenience. It places the burden entirely on the customer
Most of the polite employees I used to encounter no longer seem to be there—perhaps a reflection of how challenging the work environment might be. There’s one polite employee still standing, a nice young lady, but I anticipate she won’t be there for a long as she is likely under-appreciated by management. I hope she’s able to find work somewhere else where she gets the recognition she deserves.
It’s my understanding that UPS Stores are franchised, so I’m hoping that someone from national management might come across this review and take a closer look at the customer experience at the San Mateo Bovet Road location. If they were to walk in posing as a regular customer, I believe they’d quickly see what I mean. A simple visit would make it clear how far this store’s service culture has drifted from the standards people expect from the UPS brand.
I’ve also noticed that the store often responds to Google reviews, so they’re clearly aware of the concerns many customers have raised. The fact that these issues persist despite that feedback suggests a troubling reality—they simply do not care enough to make meaningful changes.
In contrast, the UPS Store on 2nd Ave. offers a completely different experience—so warm and respectful. Even though parking there is more difficult, I now go out of my way to use that location, where the customer experience feels genuinely valued.

The guy who does the notary is lazy and rude. He only works there from 11am to 3pm. I called at 2 and he told me he was there till 3. I then show up and he tells me to come back later because he is at lunch. He tells me while he is holding his sandwich and eating if. If you need notary don't go here.

The older Asian lady working there on Saturday morning is passive aggressive and rude, asking me to prepare the code beforehand (I only took an extra 10 seconds of time and there was no one in line behind me).
Another time she asked me to use the automated system for returns which I did not want to do and my package was too big for anyway. After I got done, she told me that I stood in line for 10 minutes for nothing.
Extremely rude and unprofessional.

We arrived to get a notary signature. We were the only ones. Quickly, 5 other customers arrived. Hana was by herself. We had an issue with our names. She politely asked other customers to wait 5 min. As she helped solve our issue, she took care of the others as well. None of the other customers griped. Thanks to them as well

First time here, very bad experience, just now, I went to return a few items I bought from Amazon, served by an older Asian woman, I went in and greeted her with respect and gratitude, as friendly as I have been to any place before, first time encountered such a situation, she looked very disgusted with me, waited for a while and replied to me coldly, I am okay. After I returned it, she did not reply to me with a receipt, I asked her, can you give me a receipt? She said very unhappy, I am not sure I can do it. Then another young man printed a receipt for me from her computer. I am also from Asia, I don't understand why she treats customers with such an attitude, can't UPS find employees with good upbringing and education? I hope others don't meet her serving you, she will bring you bad luck and bad mood all day!

Store is conveniently close to home.
Employees are very friendly, courteous. Also, they are extremely efficient which lends itself to very short wait times

The staff, Sally was really rude. I stopped by to let her scan the QR code for drop off. She said before you came here you should make the code smaller. I was like ok… then she said I should have cross out the old label before coming in. So I said, there will be a new label sticking on top of it. So why does it matter? Her attitude is bad. Never had so many issue just to drop off package.

I have been renting a box here for years.
Alex is a great guy.
I trust that my mail is received and kept safe until I can pick it up.
If you are returning Amazon stuff, please put it in your own box before you come here. People need to stop getting mad because they assume that the UPS store is supposed to box it for you.
And anyone leaving a review complaining about having to pack up their own returns is being a brat.

The associate was very helpful, knowledgeable. I would recommend everyone to use this facility for mailing and for notarizing any documents.

Great customer service but really cheap owner (or maybe it’s just UPS itself) - they charged me $2 to add extra tape on the top of the box, lol seriously? How cheap can you get ?

This is my go-to UPS store because parking is easy and service is fast. I’m always happy if Alex is working because he’s super helpful and friendly. I have dropped off a car load of large, prepaid packages and if there’s a line he just tells me where to leave my boxes and he takes care of them for me.
