Wells Fargo certainly proved to me today that they have earned the reputation they have which is terrible. Tried to convince my husband. I did not want an account with Wells Fargo and now I am 100% convinced they will never get my money. I came in after 35 years at Bank of America to transfer my money to Wells Fargo and open an account. They have no time for somebody bringing their money and wanting to set up accounts with them. They are too busy and do not want my money. In fact, the guy said try online. I don't want my money in a bank or a person isn't willing to speak with me about it. Absolutely amazing going to take my money to a different banking institution. Good job Wells Fargo.

This review is for BRENDA. I called to see if a charge had in fact cleared twice like it was showing online. I thought this was something simple yet it was difficult to get an answer. No exaggeration, every time Brenda would talk she insisted I just call the 1-800 number to get help. I had to keep insisting and pushing to get a simple answer.

Most of the time very good. Wanted to get my son his own checking account. Needed to schedule a banker because of Covid they weren't just doing walk ins. Left my number and they never called. Disappointed.

After 30 plus years with Wells Fargo they have lost my trust. It started with this branch Manager named Charles Madison. He is not a straight shooter and does not follow up like he promises. The corporate office is 2 months delayed on customer complaints. I'm taking my hard earned money to a different banking establishment.

Came in Monday 30 minutes before closing and ran up to Jeff, one of the officers at the desk. I've been told I have to place bank deposit slips reorder through the bankers at the desk. When I came to Jeff, though he didn't appear to be busy however, he presented himself as if I was interrupting him because he wasn't paying attention to people walking by. After I told him why I was there, in an absurd way he told me to sit down and showed him my id. During the entire initial process, there was no greeting, no "hello" no "how are you". It felt as if I interrupted his final 30 minutes from doing nothing as he was already done working for the day. For another 5-10 minutes, he was on the keyboard entering information from the preprinted bank deposit form I provided. And then he said he has to call in. I waited a few more minutes and asked if the process can be faster. His immediate response was to look at me bluntly and asked what was wrong. He then said the deposit slips are ordered through a third party vendor. He also said it's something I can do myself and that's said at the pre-printed form. I asked him to point out where it is printed he then wrote down the 800# and said I can make the order there. Afterwards, I went to the deposit line and made deposit I also came to the bank for. The tellers were nice to try understand what happened and even suggested to have the incident reported to their on-duty supervisor. I had been a WFB customer for over 30 years and had also been using this branch for over 5 years. Bad experience like Jeff is unfortunately the first time. I just hope it won't happen again!

What has happened to the banking profession?!!? Slow service, delayed service, untrained service. Managers equally untrained and unable to make managerial decisions on the simplest task. Great location - poor service / give your staff the tools to success. It starts at the top.

Edit: Apparently as a thanks for posting this review, a hold was just readded to my account and all my checks are bouncing this morning. I just spoke to a banker at the Foster City branch (love the foster city branch btw!!!) and she said she is just as perplexed as I am. Anyway, my original review: I like most of the people in this branch. I like Charles, I like the young blonde banker with the beard, most of the tellers. But the experience I had with the power tripping teller Cynthia (older woman) was so bad that it completely negates all positive experiences I've ever had at this location. Yesterday I came into Wells Fargo to deposit a check. The check wasn't going to stay in my account, it was from a major insurance company to pay bills from an accident. Cynthia told me there was a hold on my account for 2 weeks because my average account balance was too low. I said "okay, is there anyone you can talk to to get that released a little quicker?" She said no, that it's an automatic process, but that she would xerox my check and give me a call if it were released early (these were the first of many lies she fed me with false sympathy). The next morning I checked my Wells Fargo account and the money was in there. So I said great! I'll go to the bank, order a checkbook and pay off those bills I owe. (I have to say again the people who helped me order my checkbook were super friendly and professional). But before I left the building, I decided to go to the tellers to take some cash out as long as I was there. The teller I got happened to be Cynthia from the day before. When Cynthia saw that my hold was cleared she called the manager over, saying loudly and repeatedly "the hold I placed on his account was cleared. I placed a hold on his account, why was it cleared? I don't understand, I placed a hold on it." First of all, SHE put the hold on the account? Why the heck did she need to make a show of xeroxing my check and taking my phone number for when it was cleared? Why did she TELL me it was an automated process on the other bank's end instead of letting me talk to a manager? Second of all, why does she give a crap about MY money and whether or not I have access to it? She stubbornly sat at the screen talking about my average balance and how I shouldn't have access to money. She accidentally closed the window, then asked me to reinsert my card so she could show her manager. I should have just left, but I let them see my account one more time just so I could make sure it was all settled and she wouldn't do anything annoying behind the scenes after I left. The manager told Cynthia it was a "next day availability" check, to which Cynthia replied "oh" and backed off. No apology. They both joked to me, "which mall are we going to today?". Ha ha. The money is going straight to the healthcare system for the debt I owe from getting hit by a car. Wow. I'm checking my stockbroker right after writing this review and if I have any shares left of Wells Fargo I am selling. Usually wells fargo has amazing customer service on the personal level. At the Piedmont branch they even keep dog treats to give to my aunt's dogs. Wells Fargo charges you fees left and right, but the customer service is what keeps me on board. If they start to allow people like Cynthia on their staff, then I really might need to switch banks and encourage everyone else I know to do the same.

This is not the first time I have had a bad experience at this branch. Attempted to make a withdrawal and the bank tells you they do not have the money. This was not an overwhelming amount. I understand inventory but I also understand customer service. I stood and waited for 5 minutes for the manager while she helped another customer with a safe deposit box who just walked up to the counter during my transaction. She finished with her before coming over and telling me they did not have the funds for the transaction because their shipment isn't due until the next day. She offered half of the withdrawal and said I could go to another branch. I asked her if two people came up attempting to withdraw equal to the amount of half of mine would she grant it and she said yes. Here is a thought, let me withdraw the full amount and you can request a branch to branch transfer. A little work on your part in order to offer good service or you can handle it your way with bad service. Another transaction when I was withdrawing cash and I was asked what I was using the money for. How is that their business? In addition to that It was a little strange when the manager looks me up on Linkedin. Update - I just went to a much smaller branch, the one on 17th Avenue and they helped me without any issues. Much better service.
