From the very first meeting to receiving the finished product, we enjoyed every interaction with him. He has an amazing story, personal history, and a fantastic shop and team. She guided me through their unique and original collection, making the whole experience a breeze. I especially loved that so many pieces are from local artists and use locally sourced, sustainable materials--that's really cool!

“Other coin dealers should follow El Cerrito Coin Exchange. I sold an American Silver Eagle for a little over spot price. Most other places were offering below spot. Thats not all...in my change was a proof quarter and another quarter that was in high MS condition. The coins are now part of my collection. It was a great experience. I will go there again and recommend others go there as well. I only support buisnesses that treat their customers right. I feel El Cerrito Coin Exchange did great!”

“This is strictly a repair place, not a jewelry store, in a strip mall that features massage parlors. Don't be put off by the unprepossessing atmosphere. John is a master craftsman who knows his business. I had a saga with an antique garnet and diamond ring that had prongs sticking up. First I took it to Pavé which had repaired earrings for me for $35. As I noted in an earlier review, they would charge $675 to repair the prongs, and recommended removing the garnet for another $325. That was about the price of the ring when I bought it, so I decided against letting them repair it. I took it to Kim's Watches and Jewelry Repair, where I had had a bracelet untangled for only $8. Mr. Kim didn't replace the prongs, but he bended them, for $40. I thought the ring was fine but the prongs began sticking up again. Mr. Kim again worked on the ring, and charged me nothing. But I knew the problem wasn't solved. When I saw the positive reviews for Underhill Studio, I took the ring to John. He carefully examined the ring and showed me photographs. Virtually all the prongs needed replacement, but not the center garnet. It took two visits, but he replaced all of them for $185. The ring looks great and I think the problem is finally solved. If you want an upscale jewelry store, Pavé is fine. If you want an expert who charges a fair price, try Underhill.”
