I contacted Ammco Transmission in San Rafael to inquire about an estimate for replacing the transmission in my GMC truck. Despite explaining the severe symptoms and discovering excessive metal debris in the oil pan, I was directed to follow their diagnostic procedure to determine the transmission's failure. I expressed my preference to proceed directly with the replacement of a remanufactured unit, but the individual I spoke with seemed flustered. They assured me of a callback with a quote shortly, but I did not receive one. Subsequently, I contacted several other shops and dealers and received quotes within an hour from them all. I have since chosen a shop to proceed with the substantial repair.

I want to personally thank Shannon at Aamco for the quality of service, the outstanding job and attention to my vehicle along with the care for my family. I read reviews about going to the dealership instead of to this location. Believe me when I say That whatever issues you may have the dealership is the worst place to go. I have been to both and Aamco did an amazing professional job fixing everything the dealership destroyed. The dealership just didn't destroy my transmission but my faith in people to do the right thing. Aamco stepped up and repaired both!!! They are stand up people and go the extra mile to get things done right the first time! Thank you so much for all your help and attention to my transmission and faith in people. Sincerely!!!

I discovered Shannon about ten years ago. I was driving around the Canal District, and noticed the AAMCO sign. I was completely fed up with my mechanic of many years for a series of expensive misdiagnoses, so I pulled in. Shannon detected the problem immediately and repaired it for half the price that my current mechanic had charged to not fix it. I’ve been going to him ever since and have had nothing but great experiences. I trust Shannon and that means a lot these days. If he tells me something needs to be fixed, I fix it.

AAMCO Transmissions did a fabulous job fixing an exhaust issue with my car. Not only were they professional, but very friendly as well. They proactively gave me status updates and clearly explained the different steps they were taking to fix my car. I will definitely use them again if I have any car issues.

It’s not too often you get an exceptionally outstanding costumer service experience at a mechanic. But AAMCO in San Rafael really stands out as the best costumer service experience I’ve ever received, period. Shannon, the shop owner, is incredibly patient, informative, transparent, honest, and was dedicated to helping me out. Alberto, the suave technician, took time to answer any random question I had. He was respectful, kind and answered with honesty and confidence. AAMCO San Rafael has a good thing going; trustworthy folks, calm and friendly atmosphere, and a level of expertise that surpasses most. Thank you Shannon and Alberto! I appreciate you guys
