Really try to support local shops but this place claims to take special orders and then loses them or never places them. I had to rush order for extra $25 when they flaked.

Copperfield's Books is an awesome store/chain. In these Amazon, instant-gratification-centric times, I love taking a slowed-down and more conscientious approach to buying books whenever possible. Yes, the prices will be higher than Amazon and other online retailers. If something is not in stock, you may have to wait for them to order it, but waiting and supporting a small local business feels worth it to me. Their employees have always been kind and helpful to me over the phone and in person. They have an excellent selection of books packed into their brick-and-mortar storefront, and on the rare occasion they don't have what I'm looking for, they're willing to order it. I've been particularly impressed with their graphic novel selection. I've had consistently good experiences here, at their Napa and Petaluma locations, too, so I've got to give them five out of five stars across the board.

i am happy they are surviving. good place to hang out on saturdays and purchase books. I like to hang out there at high noon reading books and drinking a hot cup of tea. I am there every saturday. come meet me there.

My favorite north bay bookstore. San Rafael branch is nice, the Petaluma main store is worth a trip.

All bookstores get 5 stars. Part of the enjoyable experience of downtown San Rafael. Well stocked inventory with good sales tables. Good greeting card inventory.

Nice bookstore, they had 2/4 in stock, so we ordered the others. All of them were above market price which totaled me an extra $18 unfortunately. Amazon and big business is to blame. I’ll chalk this up to supporting local, support if you can.
