Totally radical place to take your toddler or under 12 kiddos!! a contained play zone with hidden tunnels and ladders and costumes! My kid who is 4.5 spent about 3 hours there and slept so well that night. So we went back three days in a row. Today is day four! Perfect for time when you don’t have a sitter, it’s vacation and you’re stuck in town or just need something new! The cafe is separate and you can watch your kid or sit and have a latte or pellegrino. If you’re not a wheat and sugar person, bring snacks! They only have pastries and oatmeal. 10/10 and would be 20/10 if there were some non grain and sugar food options like hard boiled eggs? Also could be good to have one dedicated staff member with bright vest in the chaos so that parents don’t have to play referee! We love you Fox & Kit!! ???Kid-friendliness: Literally best kid zone i’ve been too- controlled chaos with a latte lounge if you need a breather! Met lots of awesome local parents too! Great chill spot for connecting while kids have a blast and the smallness makes for kids connection more effective!!???

I love this place! My kids have so much at the indoor playground. What a genius of an idea! It’s a great rainy day activity for the kids! Although there is a time limits during rainy day and I get it!

There’s nothing else like it in the Bay. We drive here from Oakland monthly to experience it.The only way you get this kind of interior design and overall experience beauty is if the owners designed it themselves and continue to be present to care for it, and that’s what is happening here. A piece of art.

Great place to take your young kids to run and play while you enjoy a special cup of coffee, they do have a $12 charge for the use of the kids play room, best to bring a friend with their young ones and plan on hanging out for a good hour, not a 10 minute drop in.

It is a relaxing place to have coffee and have the kids play. The playing structure has fun for toddlers and up. The crawl space and hill will have the kids exhausted from running up. It's a never-ending playground space. Would definitely be back. They also serve delicious coffee, and the service is spectacular. Space can be rented out for events. They have street parking and parking building across the street.

First time coming for a kids birthday party event. So many great things to say about the place including cleanliness, aesthetic, service, and quality drinks. Great place for kids to play. I’m a big coffee nerd and they made a delicious cortado that was balanced, right size/taste/temp, with beautiful latte art. The baristas were all so nice and skilled, clean and organized to their craft, and presented all their drinks beautifully. Will definitely come back during normal cafe hours when I’m back in the area!

First time here. We took the train with the kids and made a morning out of it. Nice 10-15 min walk downtown to get to C Street. The atmosphere is super great for both kids and adults. The playground is completely separate even with a soundproof barrier, so the lounge can be comfortable without a bunch of kids screaming. My Chai Lattee was ok, nothing special, hence the 3 star on food/drink. For us, it was all about the playground, and it was super cool!!! Lots of room and fun obstacles. A couple of spots that are a little tougher for our 2 year old to navigate by herself, but other than that, she had a blast. Will definitely be back! As we left, I saw a customer being offered a punch card for the playground, we were not offered that, so I'll have to check it out next time.Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly. They have a costume closet for kids to dress up if they want. The bathroom has nice changing area. They have lots of cubbies to hold your shoes and stuff.

Rude Employee (maybe the owner)If I could, I would leave 0 stars. My friends and I went into the coffee shop to get some work done and get some coffee on a cold day, as per usual. It was maybe 10 minutes upon sitting down, a Caucasian worker walked up to me and stated I needed to purchase a coffee to be there. I wasn't sure if he was serious until he proceeded to state "These are $3000 chairs". I was at a loss for words. Then he goes to my friends and tells them they need to purchase a coffee to be there also. My friends and I have been there countless times and each time we have bought a coffee. Every time I have gone, I never bought a coffee until maybe 20-30 minutes after sitting down. No one once said anything to me. I had no issue during those times... Up until today, I have loved going there because the coffee was good and the staff was extremely nice. I have been boasting about this place to anyone who has asked me for a good place to study at. However, now I won't be going back, solely because of ONE individual (potentially the owner). Not only was his tone rude, but what he said was uncalled for. There were countless different ways he could have approached that scenario. I have no issue with the policy of buying a coffee in order to be there. Rather, my issue is with how he talked to me and what was stated. He lost three recurrent customers.

My friends and I are frequent customers here as a study spot. We usually buy a coffee and pastry every time. Today we sit down and settle in, intending to get a coffee later. What I'm assuming is the manager or owner told my friend "You need to buy a coffee if you want to be here because you are sitting on a $3,000 chair". He went ahead and told me that I had to purchase a coffee to stay. We decided to leave immediately and we will not be returning.

High quality coffee and espresso. Very fun play area for kids. One does have to wonder how often the soft rocks are cleaned though.

Out of the vast majority of coffee shops that I have frequented over the years, "Fox & Kit" has to be quite possibly one of the most unique ones that I have been to. Reason being is because that this is a coffee shop as well as a children's indoor play area. I know the concept is unusual but for those busy parents that want to indulge in a cup of coffee or espresso while their kids let out all their energy, the idea is actually well executed.Located directly on C St. and in between 4th St. and 5th Ave. in downtown San Rafael, this place has been operating since mid-2018. There is street parking nearby (that is metered) as well as a parking garage directly across the street (that charges $0.75/hr as of 2023). During my visit which was on the morning of Saturday 10/7/2023 at around 10:25am, it was a packed house with people enjoying their coffee inside and outside as it was an unusually warm autumn morning. As far as the interior part of this place, it actually feels a bit cramped with a variety of seat cushions, wooden tables, a loveseat w/coffee table, and even a couple of swinging egg chairs by the front window. During my visit, there was a lot of natural light that made this one of the more brighter places I have been to. The wooden beams here surrounding the ceiling complete with more wood that surrounds the children's play area. And as far as the play area, they offer astro-turf complete with an incline area as well as tunnels where kids play hide-and-seek.The menu offers you typical coffee/espresso drinks (hot or iced) as well as a nice variety of teas and quite a selection of kids drinks (hot cocoa, juices, etc.). Their food selection is quite limited but they do offer pastries including Danishes, croissants, and scones as well as breakfast burritos/sandwiches, a quiche, oatmeal, and yogurt. Furthermore, nothing here is vegan or gluten-free which can be a deterrent especially for this being in the heart of Marin County. I enjoyed a cold brew with oat milk and simple syrup that was satisfying and refreshing. All in all, "Fox & Kit" will have you covered if you're a busy parent and want to bring the kiddos with you for somewhere to play. Hours of operation are Mon-Fri from 8am-5pm and weekends from 8am-12pm. From an aesthetic view, this place is visually pleasing and charming. Its also a big hit amongst social media fans as many take photos of videos on the design and layout of this place. With that said and done, I am giving Fox & Kit a respectable four-star rating.

Beautiful shop, relaxing atmosphere. The coffee, green tea and chocolate croissant were delicious. Staff is super friendly.Parking: There were some spots to park on the street. Parking meter takes credit cards or coins
