I love redwood credit union always helping with my banking and loan needs. This specific location in particular needs improvement meaning more space more tellers. With the high demand of people i hope they can expand and get a bigger location to make waiting times shorter.

Everybody is on top of things there, good rates, friendly people, no abnormal account charges, the wait is a little long, that will probably improve.

When I retired 18 years ago I took my retirement (due to a disability), from a 4% CD at Equitable from my job to move it, upon a trust friend's suggestion, to RCU. The first "financial advisor (FA)", I use that term VERY loosely, put me into a "reverse mortgage" concept account. Finally, when I had the ability I read through it all and found I was paying $173/mos for this investment!! I was locked in but the next Financial Advisor (FA) put me in an account at 0.09%! I thought I was locked in and therefore had to take what I could get. Well, my retirement funds are today the same as it was 18 years ago! I searched on my own and saw that many banks had 4% CD's. I then called RCU to try to get my money and was given yet another FA. Within a couple of months he was also gone and my interest dropped to 2% because he neglected to tell me I had to write 3 checks a month to get the 4%!!!! I am old, poor and appalled at this financial institution who cared nothing about my retirement or even who I was. There's got to be a reason no FA's stay there long enough to know the name of their clients. Except, naturally, the first fool who lost me a lot of money that took me 16 years to get to where I started. So sick of people who can't or don't care to do their jobs well or at all.

24 years banking here and I got stopped at the door at 5:05 when they still had people inside. I told her I NEED to cash the check not deposit it that I need it all in cash and the ATM will not let me take it all out. Still turned me away now I have to go again to the bank tomorrow to withdraw my money . Now I'm in a terrible spot cause I don't have my money I NEEDED today for rent and bills. We all wanna go home on Friday I get it but she knows she put me in a bad spot.

This branch has some excellent tellers, however, there was one in particular, that is extremely rude. All the time. Generally I avoid him. Unfortunately, today was the day I should've just asked the person behind me to go ahead because I know how bad they can be. I was making a payment to my credit card: some of that was cash or paper money. Some of it was less than a rolled amount of change. He put his hands out and said no - no I can't take that! I let him know that was rude and why wouldn't he take a payment for my credit card? He said it's not their policy. I told him that was inaccurate and I actually know what the policy is which is: the bank will take money in coins that's less than a roll, they may ask if it is a rolled amount to have the customer roll it at the bank before they take it. But at no time have I ever been told my bank, that they will not take my money. I also know it's a policy that they will take five rolled coin rolls, but no more. He basically sat there and refused to take my money and said that he had to consult with his manager. When the manager came I explained the situation and she said yes I was correct and that was fine. Then I let her know that every time I come in and treated like garbage by this one teller. Then she had me speak to the branch manager in her office with the closed door. I was pretty upset by it and spoke to this branch manager who also told me I was correct and that she would talk to the teller about how he was rude to me. Hey- this guy has been rude to me every time I come in. When he first started, he botched a transaction of paperwork for my car loan payment, and I was charged a late fee that I later had to argue to get it waived. It's just very frustrating. I don't mind the long lines at the bank that's fine but I do mind 100% if somebody is treating me rudely at the banking institution in which I am a member.

I am 70 yrs old. I have had experience with many banks in my life but I have never had an experience like Redwood Credit Union. They are excellent in every way! Everything runs smoothly! No problems. No bs-just excellent customer service; easy access to a banker; everything good.

I love RCU but the branch in San Rafael always has a line out the door, and the tellers are stressed out and rude. The branch in Petaluma is a lot more friendly. Wish they had more branches that offered more services than just ATM. RCU really needs branches in the East Bay.

Normally this branch is pretty good. Haven't been there for a while. Went in on Friday Sept 2nd. There was a long line, to the door, and only 3 tellers working. Sure Fridays are probably extra busy. The 4th teller came out of a front room holding his phone, stopped by the vacant teller desk, then proceeded to go into a back room all while using his phone. On my way out I asked the greeter if they could have a forth teller working. She asked why, giving me a look like who are you. I said so these good people in this long line would have a shorter wait.Based on her rather odd look, I called the main Branch to see if they could resolve the issue. They wouldn't consider listening to anything unless they had full access to my account. Even if I didn't want to access my account. This is not good customer service, Redwood Credit Union has failed on this one. Apparently long lines are fine, just as long as everyone in the Branch is in their proper places. Helping customers is not so important.

The review is on the credit card only. I have an account with Redwood and a credit card. I opened it during the pandemic. For three years, there has not been 1 late payment or any negative situation. Also, there has not been one time when I was offered a credit increase or anything positive. So, do I recommend them? No, I don't. The credit union staff is friendly, attentive, and accurate. The service is good. I don't think the interest rates or loan offering is anything outside of any other credit union. If you are looking just for a simple credit card, no bells or whistles, then this is your place. If you are into credit that serves you, then perhaps another credit union or card would be better.

At the time of writing, I've just switched to RCU last week for checking, savings, and a new auto loan, and they've been wonderful to work with. The people are nice, the marketing is accurate, and it helps that the offers they have are often the best for financial good sense. This branch and their customer relations system is also great for trans people - I asked if they had a preferred name field for personal interactions (understanding that billing statements require legal name), and they do! There may not be front desk service awareness of that field, but someone was able to enter it and asked for pronouns too! It's so hard to find an LGBTQ friendly bank, and I think I have!
