Went in to get info about potentially getting a membership and the front desk worker was sleeping with his headphones on. Had to yell for him to hear me. Horrible customer service.

This gym pegs itself as a premium gym, but it is anything but. For $110 a month the facility and the services are severely lacking. In San Rafael, the locker rooms are filthy regularly, and I learned from a staff member that they are only cleaned once a week. Junk is on the floor, the wastebasket is almost always full, the floor tiles are dirty. In the men’s room for months, only one soap dispenser works (now none works!) and only one sink faucet works. This has been the case for several months. Often, there is no soap in the dispenser that does work. There are 20 lockers but almost all of them are locked even though not in use. I’ve notified the staff about this but nothing gets done to unlock them, so only a few of them are available to use. This is a gigantic inconvenience when the gym is full. It’s such a shame because with only a little effort the gym owners could show their clients that they care and that they are committed to quality.Update a few months later: no changes have been made in the men’s bathroom/locker room. One of two faucets and soap dispensers still don’t work. Trash is almost always overflowing onto the floor. Lockers are falling apart. High school kids workout regularly without shirts sweating on the gym equipment. This place is going downhill really quickly.

Joined Sonoma Fit San Rafael 9 months ago. It's been open about a year. Already showing signs of deterioration. Typical story: New gym with new equipment attracts clientele. Then gym slowly degrades into a dirty, poorly maintained facility. One example: In a short time, cleanliness has fallen behind and the men's restroom is perpetually dirty. Of the 2 water faucets, one has never worked. Of the 2 soap dispensers, one has never worked. It's laughable - you get soap from one dispenser and then have to use the water faucet on the other sink!Another issue: Several pieces of equipment are in disrepair. Other equipment has simply gone missing. Used to be 2 rowing machines... now just one. Used to be 2 assault bikes, now one. Some problems are just stupid design and planning from the outset. To throw one's towel into the basket one has to lift a lid off of a chinsy container. Gee, just what I want - to touch something that everyone else has touched. Poor planning but, this was probably the cheapest container Sonoma Fit could buy.Not the gym's fault, but lot of younger and, sorry to say it, but, low-class people go here. People who can't be bothered to rerack the weights, who are so stupid they play on their phones while other people are waiting to use equipment, or who gab loudly on their phones while at the gym.I thought the restaurant scene in Marin was bad but the lack of decent fitness clubs is even worse.

It's a single, pretty small space for a gym. In fact it doesn't really even look like a gym it just looks like about the space of Starbucks would take but they put Jim equipment in it and charge people $110 a month. I joined SF fitness for like I don't know. I think it's around $50 a month and it's way bigger and way better in like 5 minutes away. And no I don't get anything for saying this but I mean give me a break. The Sonoma fit up in Sonoma is good for the money but they should definitely charge less for this location. Barely qualifies as a gym. Believe it or not, the photo I attached is pretty much the entire gym. Gym. It's just one big room like a circuit training place. And yes people pay $110 a month to belong to this thing.

**BEWARE OF THIS FRANCHISE**After signing up I was told I had to wait up to 72 hours to gain access for 24 hours, and I was only able to go during staffed hours. But that just doesn't work for my busy schedule and is unfair to your members after paying $110 for 24 hour access. They heavily promote how convenient this gym is, but after 72 hours I still wasn't granted my 24 hour access. The whole reason I agreed to sign up was because of the 24 hour convenience. So thankful for the CA Buyers Rights, and My Father being an Attorney who helps me understand these contracts!! I was so excited to join... such a disappointment but I've learned my lesson with these fancy gyms. I was referred by my job but I let my coworkers know what's to expect. They didn't send my 24 hour access until after I terminated my membership... go figure, after I made a complaint..So if your thinking you will gain 24 hour access to the gym immediately after signing up... your wrong! They will make you wait, and then tell you to go during staffed hours. Doesn't make any sense and is ridiculous.

SOLID GYM BUILT FOR CONVENIENCE, LOCATION, and SELF-PLANNED - WORKOUTSThere was a pretty negative review on here, so I wanted to share my first experience. Before I start, It's important to know what type of exercise or gym experience you are looking for. Depending on your goals and what you want, this gym (or any gym) may be perfect or not for you. This location is known as one of their "boutique" locations. It has all the essentials to get your workout in. If you are looking for something that has all the equipment you want (or could want... .yes... even the hard to find accessories like bands, TRX, Landmine stabalizers...), in a good location to get your workout in and get home, this could be a great gym for you. If you are looking for group classes or a large array of cable machines, you you may want to consider checking out their other locations,The Pros:**Open 24/7: Not sure if anything else is open 24/7 in Marin, so this is really a great add. If you have odd hours, or want to have a place to go any time, this is a great perk. At times, for early risers or late-nigh owls, you may have to squeeze in a workout or skip entirely because of limited time. This is no longer an issue here and you won't have to rush your workout.**Brand New Equipment: Yes, this is always a great experience when everything works and brand new. EVERYTHING is BRAND NEW. Take advantage while you can!**State-of-the-art equipment: They have BRAND NEW Assault Bikes, pull up gear, rope, weights, sled, and great squat racks. This is hard to find, even in select gyms. Very cool to see this, and a big reason to join.**Clean, Nice Bathrooms and Lockers: They have clean bathrooms, along with a small area to store your things while you work out. Make sure to bring your own lock, but this is a nice convenience.**Location and Access: If you live and work in San Rafael, Novato, or Petaluma - this is a great place. You can get access to all locations with your membership. And if you are spending time a few days a month or week in one of the other cities, you can't beat it.Things to consider:Pricing: At the time of writing this, Regular membership is $99 per month when you sign up yearly, or $150 month-to-month, no commitment. While this can be a bit steep, its a great way to try out it for a month and see how you like it. Also, it sounds like they will allow a free session to try it out, and they also offer day and week passes. Great opportunity to see if this is right for you.All in all, a brand new gym with brand new equipment, in a great location.

Gym has nice machines and isn't very crowded for the small size. The downside - it's filthy. Nothing is cleaned, ever. The machines are covered in dust and sweat, the bathrooms are disgusting (no soap, broken sink) and the lockers don't work. I've tried talking to management and no one ever gets back to me. Save yourself and go to another gym.

Filthy gym and locker room. The men's locker room looks as if it hasn't been mopped in the four months since I joined. One sink is entirely broken and has been for months. They're consistently out of soap - how can anyone wash their hands properly?! It's a shame, the equipment itself is really nice. If only this gym got cleaned, this would be a really great gym to work out at.

I don't write reviews often, but man whoever is in charge of operations behind the scene is doing a terrible job. I don't understand how you can request a cancellation of membership a month in advance per their policy, and then still be charged two months after despite even being told that I would be refunded before the second charge. Now they say they have no record of my information to refund me despite the fact that I have provided more than enough evidence to dispute that claim. Even saw another review on YELP claiming that he was charged two months after canceling as well, so who knows how many other people this has happened to. My advice would be to steer clear of this place and pretend it doesn't exist.

This place did not work for me. It's really small, and the facilities are lacking. I canceled my membership and they made me pay for an additional two months... why? Plus, the monthly due is actually higher once you factor in the "yearly facility improvement fee" of $75. Best of luck to these folks.

It’s a good gym but some of us High school students have jobs so when we arrive at the gym the doors are already closed especially those who work on weekends

Love this gym. All new, with really good equipment. Quiet, calm. Friendly users. One of the best things is it's near my home, so it's convenient. Wish they had showers, but it's clean, comfortable and a good place to work out.
