STAY CLEAR OF PREMIER!Paid these guys $1,400 to fix a rattling noise. Got my car home, and it's still making the same noise. They said to bring my car back so I did. They charged me another $800 and did not fix the noise.I brought my car back a third time and they informed me they didn't have the correct tools to fix the noise I already paid them over $2,000 to fix.Now I need to bring my car to another shop after paying Premier $2,000+.We have been loyal customers of Premier for many years but do not recommend them to anyone after this horrible experience.

I was in town when my battery went out on me and Premier Auto Services was able to install my battery with short notice. They were great and highly recommend.

I am a 90 year old retired tech and have had my own automotive shop and dealt with many other shops over my lifetime as a Service adviser for multiple auto manufacturers. Because of my experience, friends are always asking me for repair recommendations.. I have trouble with that, since I do all my own repairs and have been away from the trade for so long. But I do believe PAS to be a fair, honest, reliable, courteous, and friendly place. Nobody is perfect, but they try harder than most.

I approached the auto service for an odd job since I've been bringing my Kia here for regular servicing. I called up to see if they could help me fix an issue with my 3rd row seat folding. The seat had folded but was not able to open back up to its position. Jenni asked me to bring the car in to take a look. On a quick inspection by the mechanic, they discovered that the cable that pulls the seat back into place had come out of its notch. They fixed it in 5 minutes. They also asked me to make sure I changed the handle since it was damaged from my prior attempts to open the seat up. I was very happy since I had a school field trip coming up and needed this fixed immediately. And the cherry on top was that they did not even charge me. This is what they call true customer service. These guys know what they are doing and do it best.

My car had engine problems during Christmas day. I called Premier the next morning and they were very responsive and courteous. I dropped off my car, they asked meif I needed a ride since it was raining hard. Joe who owns the place is super helpful. After a few hours, they gave me an honest assessment with no upsell. I appreciate the respectful, courteous and positive experience with Premier Auto. Looking forward to going there all the time for all my auto needs

Thanks for making my ride nice and smooth again. It's been a few years of shaking while driving. I brought it to other mechanics but the problem never fixed. A family friend referred me to Joe and I drove out from San Francisco to get fixed. They worked on it until the issue was resolved. Super hyped. Thanks Joe.

Joe is amazing, the kind of mechanic friend everyone wishes they had on speed dial.

I've had a slew of problems w a car I've been trying to fix. Stopped in on tuesday and asked the mechanic some advice. He gave me a hint but told me it could be a number of things (totally reasonable). He suggested I get a diagnostic (again totally reasonable - the guy surely has a ton of knowledge and I was thankful he spent a minute or two trying to give me a few hints). I am sort of at my wits end with the car, and was considering just paying the diagnostic, when out came who I assume to be the manager(?) - good looking guy, dark hair. I was a bit taken aback by how rude he was, but thought 'it's the end of the day..I'm just asking questions..He doesn't even know I'm considering just paying the diagnostic'. He was curt and made it very clear he just wanted me out of there. I was a bit taken aback by his behavior, but thought 'hey whatever, it's like 3:30, I just asked the mechanic questions, and he doesn't want his guy giving out free advice.' I get that. I do however think other methods of communication would've been a lot more appropriate. I figured I'd try fussing with it one more evening and then take it in for a diagnostic (maybe somewhere else because the guy was so amazingly unpleasant). They said they were busy until Thursday anyhow. Went home and it occurred to me I had never checked the fuse panel - totally a rookie move. Car is fixed. Now, I need to get it smogged. Trouble is, since I have attached and detached the battery so many times fussing with it, that it has to go through 'a full drive cycle' before it can be smogged. That is, the car has to go a few different operations and driven about 200+ miles. I looked up the directions for the drive cycle and they seemed pretty impossible(in sequence; after 8 hrs rest, turn on car and heater for 5 mins, go from 0 to 50 in 15 secs. stay there for 8 mins, decelerate to idle in 15 secs, go 0 to 40 for 1 min, go from 40 to 45 for 5 secs, stay there, back down to 40. Do that operation 6 times.... and it just continues like this for pages) Just sortof a ridiculous sequence of tasks that I can't complete in bay area traffic. It said at the bottom of the directions that the best way to do this is to put it on a 'dyno'. (I'm assuming it's the spinny thing a the smog that lets the car sit stationary, but run the wheels at selected speeds). I stopped by premier auto today(wednesday) to show them this paper and ask them if they had a dyno, that is, I walked up wanting to pay for a particular service to this place. A different mechanic and the same manager were outside when I pulled up. I still had the car running, paper in hand and was standing about 4 feet away from both of them to ask if they had a dyno and if I could hire them. Both of them flat out ignored me for just under 5 minutes. Again, we are all outside and I was standing 4 feet away from them. No "hello", "just a moment" or even a "we're very busy right now, can you come back in an hour?" .Nothing. I finally just softly said " I want to know if you guys have a dyno. Check out this drive cycle thing, it's impossible." The mechanic glanced at it and agreed that it was impossible and said sorry, we don't have one. Again perfectly reasonable. This manager guy though. Yuck. I don't even know if he turned to look at me. I have no idea. The guy could be absolutely amazing at his job or whatever, but he was just so disrespectful on both occasions, I can't even understand. I think my instincts from the first visit were right, and would politely discourage others from going here.

I just bought a 1991 Nissan Sentra. Old car, so smogging is always a pain. I took it to the smog shop and it failed. I looked around online for a catalytic converter and options why it could fail. A new Cat is like $800 and then installation is few hundred bucks. That doesn't mean it will pass smog though. There are more options too that I could buy. I'd just be wasting money at a gamble to get it to pass. So I took it to PAS and told them it doesn't pass. I left it there for a few days and got a call from them. Car is all smogged. They fixed my car with just changing the spark plugs and doing an oil change. They even took it to the smog shop and did the smog. I was so happy! I didn't have to pay a ton of money to get the car going. These guys really know what they are doing.

Four years ago I gave Premier a great Yelp review, and I was happy to do it! This is what happened during my most recent visit: I took my recently purchased older model jeep to Premier when it started making a scary noise. The minute I pulled up Nick said it sounded bad and likely I'd need a new engine. Sure enough the next day he confirmed that we needed a new engine and they could do it for $9000. They charged us $138 diagnostic fee. My husband told me to get a second opinion. I called Golden Gate Jeep who I purchased the vehicle from. They have a shop in San Rafael and Phil specializes in Jeeps. He said "no way do you need a new engine." The jeep was a one-owner car and the previous owner babied it. Phil was that owners mechanic for the life of the car. I had the car towed to San Rafael. Today Phil called to confirm that not only do I not need a new engine, but the problem was a loose bolt knocking against the clutch. He's not charging me for his time, and the parts were all of $150. Had I listened to Premier, I would have wasted $9,000 on a new engine that I did NOT need, and I still would have walked away with the same bolt/noise problem. By the way, when I first told Premier (Nick) I was taking it elsewhere for a second opinion I said "hey we've been longtime customers, if it turns out you are wrong and I don't need a new engine, it would be great if you'd be flexible on pricing next time we bring one of our cars in for service. Just give me a credit of a portion of the $138 diagnostic fee towards my next service." Nick looked at me like I had 5 heads and said he had to be paid for his time whether he was right or wrong. No. Can. Do. We have used Premier routinely in the past to service all of our vehicles, and they've always done a great job. I trusted Joe and his team. Its possible Joe may have recently sold the business, and perhaps the experienced mechanics quit. I don't know, but we won't be going back and I can no longer recommend them in good conscience.

I used to dread having to take my car in for service. The dealers always try to rip you off, and it was so hard to find an independent repair shop that you can trust. Well, those days are over for me! When I need to have one of my cars serviced, I head to Premier Auto Service. They are dependable, competent and honest. I highly recommend them for most car service and repairs. It is not a fancy operation - there are no loaner cars, or fancy lounges (although there is a comfortable room for waiting), no parts department, etc. And it's a little hard to find (turn up the driveway between Gianni's and The Cabinet Center), then turn left). But they are nice, will keep in touch with you, and did I mention they are honest?
