William Randolph Hearst Memorial Beach is a state beach across from Hearst Castle. It is a nice, quiet, small beach with a short walk from the parking lot. The beach offers magical and peaceful walks and views. It has a pier that can be spotted from the highway, but as of 2024 the pier is closed due to damage and blocked off, so fishing from it is not possible. The site has plenty of picnic tables and several parties are seen having picnics. It is a great place to sit next to the water and listen to the waves. However, the grassy area needs mowing and the railings and steps need painting. The main bathrooms are closed, but there are portable toilets available. Alternatively, there are clean public restrooms with four single stalls located at the site. Swimming is not advised as there is no lifeguard and the waves look dangerous. The beach is not obstructed by hotels and buildings.
