Stepping into the world of grown-ups with my recently-turned-18-year-old meant tackling some real-life stuff, like opening her first bank account. We went with Citibank. A simple phone call and they squeezed us in for an appointment on the same day. We got lucky with Roberto Castillo. He knew just what we needed and gave us the lowdown on banking and credit, explaining it all to my daughter in terms that made sense. And he did it all with a smile and a warm attitude. The real highlight was when my daughter went to deposit her first paycheck. She had a figure in her mind, a nice round number, that she expected to see on that piece of paper. But when she finally broke the seal on that envelope, let's just say, reality hit her. She hadn't factored in taxes, so seeing a smaller number was a bit of a shocker. Life lesson learned! From start to finish, the experience was smooth and easy, and even fun. Roberto made the whole thing less intimidating and more of a learning experience. Citibank made what could have been a boring chore into a memorable event for a big life milestone. All in all, a good day in the world of adulting.

Beware Investment Advisors at Citi. Last Dec 2021, citi branch setup my mom to get investment advise. Advisor Anna persuade my mom to invest all her svgs into a Franklin municipal bond fund. Less than 1 mos, the fund dropped over $5k, and by 5th mos, it dropped $16k more than 11%. Noted my mom is 81 yrs old, do not speak English, and has NO grammar school, not any investment background. I filed a compliant to Citi investigation team. What it came back was she was in suitable investment because her tolerance level is "moderate", and investment knowledge is "moderate". How on earth does a 81 yrs old widow evaluated as "moderate" risk + experienced investor? Then I find out the decision of "suitable fit" was based on "new acct form" she signed. Anna asked my mom signed an open account form (in English), computer-typed by her, ck box "moderate" investment exp, and moderate risk. So my mom never knew what she signed, but was told in chinese that it was an open account form. I was present, and I did asked "shouldn't we wait until next year because Fed is increasing rate, and wouldn't this bond fund goes down?" Anna replied, she followed this fund over 20yrs, and it is very safe and will go back up eventually if it goes down one year. So far, my mom has lost $16,000 over 11% in this fund within 6 mos. And I later find out citi advisors receives commission from clients and being year-end, advisors must be desperate to meet quotas. Also, Please be aware there is no such thing as "Compliant dept" because there is no person's name who email you nor contact phone no. (Only they can talk justify they're right, but you can never talk to anyone! ) When you call and file a compliant, they take your compliant and after 1-mo reply your email with some ridiculous excuses that your investment is right fit, it is just your bad luck investing on the market. BE AWARE OF THE AGENT, "ANNA L" She service Arcadia, Irvine, SG valley. I had to trace her 3 branches to find her#.

i've been a customer for Citi Bank for almost 20 years. I've had account problems all week and all they do is transfer you to somebody else or tell you to call this other number and nobody has answers for you. The worst experience I've ever had. The department told me to show up to a branch and that's what I did. I was told by the manager himself I would get a call back, he never called me. I would have to show up. I even did it three days in a row cause i wasnt communicated. And all I heard was excuses and no answers. The lack of empathy and consideration for a long time customer was unbelievable. He said it was escalated and he might as well just be bsing me to get me out of there because that's what it felt like. that was my experience and I advise everyone to avoid it by not banking with them. as soon as you have an issue with them, you're someone else's problem.

The absolute worst bank EVER. Their overall lack of professional courtesy, customer care, and consummate smugness over the past many years is daunting. I pulled my business accounts 5 years ago for the same reasons. I should have moved my personal accounts, but never got around to it. They recently blocked my accounts (causing several checks to bounce) because they needed some "information from me".. three simple, non-relevant questions or at least nothing that would warrant blocking my accounts WITH OUT ANY NOTICE! After several convos over 1 1/2 days wasting at least 6 hours and no return call backs from my "relationship manager", I've decide to go to Farmers and Merchants and CB can continue to implode under its own ineptness and arrogance.

Worst bank ever! Do not waste your time and come here! The staff is rude and they will not respect you as a client. Also the process is so difficult to get anything done. Britney was very rude. Refusing to help and asking me to leave instead of helping me. GO TO CHASE BETTER!

Along with the others leaving reviews, this Citi bank is a joke. Samia has no business being a branch manager and after multiple bad experiences we closed all accounts today, after branching there for 15+ years. Save your time and go elsewhere.

Worst bank ever as soon as I can figure out how to go to a branch I'm going to close the account I can't imagine anybody wanting to bank with Citi Bank. If there is less than one star I would do it

I have been a Citibank customer for over 40 years and visit this Tustin location because it is convenient for me. The building is always clean and tidy; the staff is friendly and really helpful; and there is plenty of up-close parking. The other thing that I like and respect about Citibank is that the company traces its roots all the way back to 1812. To me, that says alot about strong bank leadership and a secure balance sheet for the safety and security of your funds!

Terrible customer service. Similar to the other comments provided, if you can't do it, you can still be professional. Why, as a manager, would you antagonize someone's frustration? Your job is to smooth the waters, be solution oriented, and act as a MANAGER. You earned the title! What a disgrace. How unfortunate for your team to be witness to your unprofessional behavior and your poor example of service. If you worked for my company, you'd be fired. Good luck out there "manager." I'm sure Citi Bank is thrilled to be losing customers on your behalf. I am not surprised to see Samia's name in almost every negative review!! Like over two years ago guys!!! How does this woman still have a job with Citi Bank?!? Btw, this is an unclaimed listing on Yelp. We already know she doesn't care about people, but is Citi Bank even seeing our complaints!! Hey Citi Bank, do yourselves a favor and get rid of the bad seed SAMIA RAHEB before it's too late! Customers are dropping like flys!!

The worse money institution you will deal with lot of people told me to stay away of this bank, I wish I listened to them, I never dealt or treated the way this bank supervisors did to me. Be aware once you open an account with them you have NO rights and you no longer owns your money. NOW I HAVE TO REPEAT WHAT OTHERS TOLD ME, STAY AWAY FROM THIS BANK.

My 90 1/2 year old mom just lost her husband/my dad - she has met with the manager twice back in September 2017 showing the death certificate - where they made copies and was asked please take him off the account - On 1/9/18 I went there with my mom and sister - we had a letter from my mom's trust attorney to change the name on the account - we sat with the representative and she pulled up the account and my dad was still on it - so they haven't changed it at all - we were stunned - the gal said we would have to bring the death certificate in again - remind you we are just changing the trust name on the account - so the representative started looking at tutorials on "HOW TO" change the name on the account (my sister was sitting where she could see the screen) she didn't know what to do - three times she got up and went to talk to the manager the same one my mom saw back in September 2017 - my sister asked to use their bathroom and she was told to go use CVS's restroom across the parking lot - after 45 minutes they couldn't help us and the manager never came over to talk to us - mind you my mom is 90 and 1/2 years old had has a good amount of money in there - we got up to leave and my sister said across the bank to the manager and said, "At least you could have come over and talked with us". My mom is talking with other banks now!!! They get a zero for customer service A triple zero for treating our mom like that And worse than that; The manager and the representative are terrible and should be FIRED!

WORST CITI BANK EVER!!!!! My husband and I both had our IDs and debit cards stollen out of my bag. We went here to withdraw money. Rather than being treated sympathetically the "manager" treated us like we were criminals trying to get money from our OWN account. It literally felt like she was interrogating us. Mind you, my one year old is SCREAMING in my arms and I can barely think. Bottom line, we are now driving to ANOTHER CITI BANK to get OUR MONEY!

Citibank lied about their cash bonus promotion. Do not open account, they will not honor the bonus once the account is open. They are cheater and liars. This branch is horrible. Manager is rude and unprofessional. Citibank posted an add for opening a new checking account to receive a cash bonus. I met all the requirements but bonus was not posted to my account after opening account for over 6 months. I called to follow-up on the issue. I was told that I met all the requirements but Citibank would not honor their promotion. I closed my account immediately and I will never do business with Citibank again.

The manager at this branch is unbelievable! I just spent an hour on the phone with citibank trying to get a complaint in about her. Samnia. She is the worst branch manager at a bank I have ever encountered. I have clients that rely on my advice everyday for their banking needs and I will be sure to convince them to NEVER use this branch.
