My Mom's side were bankers, like the OG bankers that helped build Downtown Orange to what is it today. I share this because they took banking seriously, they were the loved neighbors to all the small businesses and local municipalities. Even though I was not around during these times I could feel the love when they talked about supporting their clients. I have been banking with the Orange County Credit Union over the past 10 years and I love them. I love them because even though I am living in the Bay Area I still get the warmth and sense of belonging like I am in town. Jennifer C. has been a friend and one of the most amazing customer experience providers I have ever met. She was an expert on every single curveball (sometimes irrelevant) question I have and was always quick to respond. Thank you Jennifer and the OCCU family for reminding me that customer experience goes beyond the giant banks... you make my days.

I am not sure if my review posted so I am posting it again.I needed to express my gratitude to SCOTT STEWART who helped make my dreams of owning out of state property possible. Scott was so kind and so patient with all my questions, helping me understand how things would go on both sides of the transaction. Time was of an essence and I was up against a contingence, Scott always answered the emails and phone calls and most times answered the phone right away ( which is rare these days) Scott has old school values when it comes to Customer Service , I felt so confident he would bring me to the finish line . He even offered to have the sellers call him directly if they had a concern about the funds arriving on time. I also was very lucky to have Eddie Higuera as my Loan Processor, The two of them make quite a dream team!!!!!From the bottom of my heart, Thank you Scott and Eddie, my dream has come true and I will miss talking with you both!!!!!! Beyond grateful.

I have been a long time member that has to finally throw in the towel. Mortgages are being mishandled here, The mortgage consultants have no urgency to complete process. On a purchase I applied for at one point in June, after contacting consultant multiple times, I went with another lender. Not telling credit union. I didn't hear back from that consultant nearly A MONTH! I finalized purchase elsewhere. So now in September I decided to refinance my investment property(currently held by occu at 4.375) due to rates now in 3s or lower. I applied And Nancy called me and stated I won't qualify because my new primary residence mortgage. My credit score nearly 800, all income verified. I stated "but my rental also has rental income more than offsetting expense" she said they can't use income because I took rental as a loss. When I reviewed my official tax transcripts, this was false and loss was taken in 2018 when I had converted property to rental. 2019 was positive income(on top of offsetting expenses.) so there was no reason for denial. Despite small mortgage rate savings I highly advise shipping elsewhere for mortgage refinance or purchase unless you want to risk the entire mortgage sale(or earnest deposit) due to mishandling. I think since they have my loan at 4.375 they want to keep me at those rates. Instead of refinancing.-David member since 2003. In process of trying to close out accounts and hoping to pull my mortgage.

I can tell you that this bank and location is the best because I've been coming here for years with no problem. But what really makes this Orange County's Credit Union exceptional is Ramses Gomez. Coping with a loss of a family member has not been easy. Yet alone dealing with the deceased assets. It was a situation I have never dealt with at a bank and I didn't know how to go about it. But Ramses Gomez made the process as smooth as possible. He went above and beyond to say the least. He was professional and compassionate. And if he didn't have an answer for me about something he would make a call and get back to me shortly. I highly recommend coming here and scheduling an appointment with Ramses Gomez. This man deserves a raise for his great work!

I just want to say during this time of uncertainty, I am beyond grateful to be a member of OCCU. They offered emergency loans to their members who have been with them atleast 60 days.I have never seen a credit union or bank do this. What kind people.I will never forget how they helped me during a time of need covid19...

The CoOVID-19 forbearance plan was very confusing , so much so , the people at the branch were confused . After spending all day either on hold or trying to log in , the forbearance process is by far a bad deal . Rather than just extend our loan by 3 months, they want you to pay 4 months of payments in 4 months ; a terrible idea ! This is a bad idea from the governor and OCCU !

I've wanted to love and support this CU for a long time. Been a member for 4+ years. I had two vehicle purchases and two personal loans and they have always offered a better rate than Unify. But when it comes down to the PEOPLE over PROFITS aspect that they claim, they fall way behind. We were talked into debt protection TWICE and when we actually had to use it due to my husbands lay-off, it NEVER worked. They were not responsive at all when I asked for information and help trying to file a claim. They do however, harass you because you cant pay. DUUUUH. We bought onto the DEBT protection and are behind because we CAN'T pay. Overall, I will keep my money here because it's close by. But I am planning on moving my main account and all my other financial needs elsewhere.

They stole $135 of my cash from a venmo payment from the previous week and canceled my card when I had money already on it and tried to buy something on ebay. Avoid this place.

I have been a member with the Orange County Credit Union since the mid-1970s and I have always thought they were the best bank anywhere until recently. A short time ago they changed the online banking system which is atrocious, and whenever I talk about it the answer is it allows you more things to do. What more do you need to do then to check your account balance transfer money send money which could all been done on the old system. It used to be for 40 years that if you scheduled a payment to be sent by check as soon as it was sent it was immediately deducted from your account, basically a bank check. Now they send it out as a personal check and it will not clear your account until whoever you sent that check to deposit it and in some cases that is weeks, therefore you never know for sure what your bank balance is. I have asked why and if it could be changed back, it's supposedly has been under review for 6 months now. Three to four months ago I was asked by the manager at the Long Beach Branch, who I think is terrific, that because of my inquiry would I like to be part of the committee or at least have input into the problems and solutions and to this day I've heard nothing. Yesterday I needed to transfer money to my daughter and I had her account information on to make a transfer easy it has just disappeared, so I called the bank to make the transfer and my password has also disappeared they could only identify me by my Social Security and other information. This Bank used to answer the phone in the first minute of a call now it's 5 to 10 minutes. It is falling apart and they don't seem to give a damn. I'm going to hang with them a little longer and hope and pray that they could be the bank they once were and if not I'm a shop around after all of this time. Please fix it

This bank Is terrible. I've never had so many problems with a bank. My cards been compromised twice in 2 months and instead of the fraud dept calling me to ask if it was me they just flagged my card as stolen. I'm a single mom of 2 and I was over 100 miles Away from my house at my sisters house. If I didn't have Venmo and could borrow from someone I would have been stuck till Monday and missed work because I couldn't access ANY of my money for food or gas. One of the customer service reps suggested I open a 2nd account and link them online so I'd still be able to access my money if something like this ever happens again. So I go down to the branch to open a new account and I'm informed it's a 20-30 min wait to see someone and the branch was dead. I think I'll be looking into a new bank.

Recently joined and refinanced with OCCU. The experience from beginning to end was extraordinary! Our initial contact was with Norman, he was patient and took time to answer our questions and concerns. Once in process, our primary contact became Eddie H, he was beyond patient, courteous and very helpful. We always felt valued and they were both very quick to respond to our many questions. They kept us informed of our status regularly, we always knew what was next and where we were at in the process. We highly recommend OCCU to family, friends and anyone who appreciates excellent customer service!

Personal bankers are ok. They could use a little more training with customer service. Financial Advisor is super friendly and knowledgeable! Tellers are great! They are always so nice and efficient.

Love the tag line "Bank where the focus is on you". This place isn't any different from a bank which is part of the problem. Unfortunately OCCU doesn't quite understand the Credit Union movement or culture and I suspect that has to do with the rules and standards that they have in place. Long story short the service isn't any different from a WF or BofA. Further, I've been to multiple locations where their MO is to interview you in the lobby in front of everyone waiting so you can share all of your business with the crowd. Simply unprofessional and low end. It's a chop shop bank posing as a CU with an expansive field of membership. Hardly there for you. And the staff dress like they work at Frogs Bounce House not a financial institution. Seems the Execs are out of touch with the operation.

I called in last week spoke to a representative in the call center about two charges on my account I wanted to dispute since I didn't make them. I don't recall her name I just remember it started with an N. She told me to verify if I made those purchases before I continued with my dispute. Like hello lady I'm calling "my bank" because I know I didn't make those purchases. Afterwards she went on to say she would email me forms to fill out and I can email her back DIRECTLY. Well I'm still waiting on my forms. If you say you're going to work with a member please keep your word and do not have them waiting on you. Bad representation on your work ethic. Very dissatisfied with how poorly OCCU services have been.
